Digital Mechanical Locks
Purely mechanical push-button code locks. No batteries, no circuit board, no app and nothing to update. The code is set and changed on the lock itself. For high-traffic doors where a flat battery is not an acceptable failure mode, this is the format that keeps working.
Why mechanical still wins on some doors
Electronic locks fail in predictable ways: batteries, moisture ingress at the PCB, and cycle wear on small motors. A mechanical digital lock has none of those failure paths. What it gives up is remote management, audit trails and multiple user codes.
Where these are specified
- Commercial back-of-house doors, plant rooms and store rooms
- Gyms, pool gates, clubhouses and shared strata facilities
- Site sheds and construction access where power is unreliable
- Any door where the same code is fine for everyone who uses it
- Doors that see hundreds of cycles a day and cannot tolerate downtime

Common questions
It depends on the model. Some allow a code change in situ using a change key or tool; others require the lock to be removed from the door and internal cams reset. Neither is instant, so plan code changes rather than treating them as routine.
Usually one. A small number of models support a second code or a code plus a key override, but multiple individually managed users is not what this format does. If you need that, you need an electronic lock.
