The Yale Assure Keyed Deadbolt (model YRD226HKMBK) is a touchscreen electronic deadbolt that replaces an existing single-cylinder deadbolt on a standard 54mm timber bore. It gives you keyless PIN entry at the door, app control from your phone, and a genuine mechanical key override for the days when technology is not the answer.
The Yale Home Module is included in the box, so the lock pairs with the Yale Home App

Battery, Power and Backup
The Assure Keyed runs on four AA alkaline batteries housed in the interior escutcheon, and typically gives around twelve months of normal household use. The low battery indicator on the touchscreen flashes red well before the batteries are exhausted, and with the Connect Plus Hub 2 fitted you also get a low battery notification in the app. A smart lock has no mains dependency at all - see Chapter 01 - how smart locks are powered.

Remote Access and Smart Home
Out of the box, the included Yale Home Module gives you Bluetooth control from the Yale Home App at the door, plus Apple HomeKit. Everything else - locking from the office, live notifications, guest code management from another city, Alexa and Google Home - needs the Yale Connect Plus Hub 2.
The Hub 2 supports up to 16 Bluetooth Yale devices, runs on 2.4GHz Wi-Fi only, and should sit within about 9 metres of the lock, with 4.5 metres recommended for best reliability. The Hub 2 will not join a 5GHz network. Modern routers that merge both bands under one network name cause most of the dropouts people blame on the lock. The key cylinder uses the C4 keyway and can be rekeyed by a locksmith, so a new owner or a lost key does not mean a new lock. Terry's can rekey it to match your existing C4 house keys where the system allows.

Off by default. Turn it on and the deadbolt throws itself again after a set delay, so a door is never left unlocked because somebody forgot. With DoorSense calibrated, the app version can wait until the door is actually closed first.

If you lose your phone you can also sign into your Yale Home account on another handset, or use the Lost Phone function on the Yale website to log every device out. Auto-Unlock works on one lock per household account
Auto-Unlock can only be enabled on a single lock in your Yale Home keychain, normally your main entry door. My code will not register
Codes must be 4 to 8 digits, the same code cannot be issued to two users, and the check and gear keys cannot form part of a code. What are the Hub 2 limits?
Up to 16 Bluetooth Yale devices and 30 Zigbee devices, on a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network only. Past about ten connected devices you may notice slightly slower response. Install it within 9 metres of the lock, ideally within 4.5 metres, and avoid steel frames and brick, stone or concrete walls in the path.

My phone is on 5GHz - will setup work?
Not while the phone is on the 5GHz band. Put the phone on 2.4GHz for the Hub 2 setup, then switch it back afterwards. A "signal appears weak" message during setup is normal and does not affect performance. What happens without a hub, or when the internet is down?

The touchscreen does not wake
Use a larger area of skin. The screen is capacitive and needs contact across at least three areas - the flat of a hand or several fingers, not a fingertip. If it still does not respond, check the keypad harness is fully seated and not pinched.

This warranty applies to genuine Yale products purchased new in Australia from ASSA ABLOY or its authorised resellers. It operates in addition to your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.

- Keep your proof of original purchase (invoice or receipt).
- Contact Gold Coast Smart Locks - operated by Terry's Tradies Pty Ltd and its associated websites, trading names, and subsidiaries - as your authorised retailer, and follow the steps on our Returns & Warranty page.
- Return the product securely packed to protect it in transit, together with your proof of purchase and your name, address, email and phone number.
- ASSA ABLOY assesses the claim. Where the warranty applies, they will (at their option) repair the product, replace it with the same or closest equivalent Yale product, or refund the price you paid.
Claims made directly to ASSA ABLOY require a Case Number from their Customer Service Department before goods are returned - products sent back without a Case Number may not be accepted. Costs of returning a product are the customer's responsibility.
What Is Not Covered
- Normal wear and tear.
- Misuse, abuse, accident, or use outside Yale's published technical specifications.
- Improper maintenance or neglect, or failure to follow ASSA ABLOY's care and maintenance recommendations.
- Use of batteries other than those specified; batteries themselves are not covered.
- Unauthorised alteration, modification or repair by anyone other than ASSA ABLOY authorised personnel.
- Custom orders made to components or specifications supplied by someone other than ASSA ABLOY.
- Goods that were not new when purchased, second-hand goods, or products not originally sold in Australia through ASSA ABLOY or an authorised reseller.
- Products with brands, marks, plates, numbers or other ASSA ABLOY information defaced or removed.
- Use of substitute, replacement or non-genuine ASSA ABLOY parts or cylinders.
- Corrosive exposure, including vapours, chemicals, abrasive compounds, contamination, pollution, coastal air, salt spray and high humidity.
- Removal, refitment or replacement of products, and any associated charges.
Important Notes
Batteries, finishes and stainless steel
Batteries are consumable and are not covered. Cosmetic finishes and appearance are excluded. Stainless steel resists staining but is not stain-proof - tea staining is a natural process and is not covered where cleaning and maintenance guidelines have not been followed.

Damage from salt spray, coastal air, high humidity and other corrosives is excluded. In Gold Coast and coastal locations, choose a suitable finish and follow the care and maintenance guidance to protect your hardware and preserve your cover.

This manufacturer's warranty is in addition to other rights and remedies you may have under the law. Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and to compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if they fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.

Works as described, easy install
Installed as a replacement for an ageing smart lock. Easy to install, with good instructions and intuitive set-up. Finish looks good outside and in, and it's a simple procedure to add and remove entry codes. My only gripe would be that the instructions for the door close sensor aren't in the pack - a quick google and they're on the Yale site though, and setup is pretty straightforward as well. No need to use the app if you're not adding the full suite of smart features either - just set up through the lock.
