Borg BL4401 MG Pro ECP Mechanical Digital Gate Lock – Lever/Lever – Marine Grade Pro – Easicode Pro – Black
The Borg BL4401 MG Pro ECP is a medium-heavy duty fully mechanical digital lock combining a lever/lever configuration with Easicode Pro (ECP) on-door code change. Designed specifically for external wooden and timber gates and doors, it uses the same lever keypad housing as the BL3400 gate lock series but is supplied with a 60mm anti-thrust tubular latch suited to wooden gate and door applications. A 316 stainless steel internal components, MG Pro black marine grade external coating, and 1,000 hours salt spray testing make it the correct choice for harsh coastal and marine environments.
The external lever is free-turning until the correct PIN is entered, then releases to retract the latch. The inside lever is always free to turn for immediate egress. An optional holdback function allows the inside lever to be held open for free passage – removable if not required. The lock is fully mechanical, requires no batteries, and has no wiring of any kind. It accepts doors and gates from 35mm to 85mm thick using the supplied fixing kit.
Usually same day if ordered before 11am AEST (excluding weekends and Qld public holidays)
316 stainless steel internal components with MG Pro black marine external grade coating. Tested to 1,000 continuous hours of salt spray. Suitable for coastal, beachside, canal-front, and marine environments where standard finishes corrode prematurely.
Borg warrants corrosion resistance for 12 months from date of sale under specified conditions.
The PIN code can be changed while the lock is installed using the included code change key. No lock removal, no tools, no programming device required. An optional code change disabling plug is included to prevent unauthorised code changes once set.
Entirely mechanical. No power source, no wiring, and no battery maintenance at any point.
For heavy duty: consider the Lockwood DX, Borg 7701, or Carbine CDL7000 Series.
The BL4401 MG Pro ECP accepts one active PIN code at a time.
Installing on a narrow aluminium gate frame?
Planning to mount a Borg 2000 or 4000 series lock on an external gate with a 50mm × 50mm (or larger) aluminium frame?
Worried the standard 60mm latch included in the box won't fit the frame?
You're right — it won't.
To fit correctly on aluminium gate frames, you'll need the correct extended latch.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between the BL4401MGPROECP and the BL4401MGPRO?
Both are marine grade pro lever/lever locks designed for wooden and timber gates and doors. The ECP model allows the PIN code to be changed on the door using the included code change key – no lock removal required. The non-ECP model (BL4401MGPRO) uses the traditional tumbler system, requiring the lock to be removed and the internal tumblers rearranged. The ECP model also accepts slightly thicker doors (up to 85mm vs 80mm) and offers 4,000+ code combinations; the non-ECP offers 8,000+.
How do I change the PIN code?
With the door or gate in the open position, enter the current code. Insert the included code change key into the hole in the * button and hold it down. Press C to clear the existing code. Enter your new code, then press all the digits once more to confirm they are set. Release the key from the * button, then press C or rotate the lever to finalise. Test the new code at least five times before closing the gate. If a mistake is made, press C to cancel and start again from step one.
Does the lock work on aluminium gate frames?
The BL4401 MG Pro ECP is designed for wooden and timber gates. If fitting to a narrow aluminium frame (50mm x 50mm or similar), the standard 60mm tubular latch included in the box will not align correctly. An extended latch (BLS272000) is required for aluminium gate frame applications. For purpose-built metal box-section gate locks, consider the BL3400 or BL3430 series instead.
Is this lock suitable for pool gate compliance in Queensland?
The BL4401 MG Pro ECP provides keyless access and auto-latches on door closing, which aligns with the self-latching requirement of the Queensland Pool Safety Standard. Full pool gate compliance requires confirmation with a licensed pool safety inspector, as requirements include self-closing mechanisms, latch height positioning, and gate clearance specifications. Terry's can advise on the correct latch and installation configuration for your specific gate.
Additional Information
The BL4401 uses lever handles on both sides rather than the knob used on BL2600/BL3400 series. A lever requires less grip force and torque than a knob, making it suitable for heavier or outward-opening gates and for users who may find a knob difficult to turn – including elderly users or those with limited hand strength. For applications where knob operation is preferred, see the BL2601 or BL3401 series.
Monthly: clean the keypad and lever surfaces with a light spray of silicon-based lubricant (GT85 or equivalent); remove excess with a soft cloth. Do not use oil-based lubricants such as WD-40 – they attract dirt and degrade internal components. Annually: remove the lock and spray internally through the button holes; test all buttons and the lever operation. Refer to the Borg Servicing Guide PDF for full maintenance instructions.
The 60mm backset latch is included in the box. 50mm and 70mm backset latches are available separately to suit different door and gate frame configurations. Confirm the correct backset before installation and order the correct latch if required before starting the job.
All Borg locks are warranted against mechanical defects in materials and workmanship under normal use and service for a minimum of 12 months from date of sale. The warranty does not cover damage arising from misuse, vandalism, or improper installation. The lock must not be dismantled — doing so will invalidate the warranty.

How a Warranty Claim Works
