Borg BL5001 MG Pro ECP Mechanical Digital Lock – Lever/Lever – Marine Grade Pro – Easicode Pro – Black
The Borg BL5001 MG Pro ECP is a medium-heavy duty fully mechanical digital lock in the BL5000 series, combining Marine Grade Pro construction with Easicode Pro (ECP) on-door code change. The external lever is clutched until the correct PIN is entered; the inside lever is always free to turn for immediate egress. 316 stainless steel internal components and MG Pro black external coating deliver 1,000 hours of salt spray resistance, making it suitable for coastal, external gate, and marine environments.
The lock is fire rated to AS 1905.1-2005 for use on fire door assemblies (up to 4 hours depending on the doorset) and cycle tested to 100,000 operations. An optional free passage function allows the lever to be held in the open position using the F button, without requiring code entry for each pass. The lock is fully mechanical, requires no batteries, and accepts doors from 35mm to 80mm thick.
Usually same day if ordered before 11am AEST (excluding weekends and Qld public holidays)
Successfully tested up to 4 hours (depending on doorset) on fire door assemblies in accordance with AS 1905.1-2005 Fire Resistant Doorsets.
316 stainless steel internal components with MG Pro black marine external grade coating. Tested to 1,000 continuous hours of salt spray. Suitable for coastal, beachside, and marine environments.
Borg warrants corrosion resistance for 12 months from date of sale under specified conditions.
The PIN code can be changed while the lock is installed using the included code change key. Insert the key over the Φ button, rotate 90° clockwise, hold, press C to clear, enter the new code, confirm, then release. No lock removal required. An optional code change deactivation plug is included.
After entering the correct code and rotating the lever, press the F button to engage free passage mode – the lever becomes free-turning without requiring code entry for each use. To exit free passage mode: rotate the lever and press C until an audible click is heard. The free passage function can be permanently deactivated using the supplied deactivation plug if not required.
Entirely mechanical. No power source, no wiring, and no battery maintenance at any point.
For maximum heavy duty: consider the Lockwood DX, Borg 7701, or Carbine CDL7000 Series.
Accepts one active PIN code at a time.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I change the PIN code?
With the door open, enter the current code. Insert the code change key over the Φ button at the top of the keypad, rotate it 90° clockwise, then press and hold it fully. Press C to clear the existing code, enter your new code digits, press all the digits again to confirm they are set, then release and remove the code change key. Press C or rotate the lever to finalise. Test the new code at least 5 times before closing the door. The code is non-sequential – if set to 1234, entering 4321 or 3214 will also open the lock.
How does the free passage function work?
Enter the correct code, rotate the lever, then press the F button while the lever is still rotated. The lever will now be free-turning, retracting the latch without requiring code entry. This is useful for periods of active through-traffic. To exit free passage mode: rotate the lever and press C until an audible click is heard – the lock resets and will require the code to operate again. If free passage is never needed, insert the included plug behind the F button slot to permanently deactivate the function.
What is the difference between BL5001MGPROECP and BL5001?
The BL5001MGPROECP has ECP on-door code change (no removal required), Marine Grade Pro construction (316 SS, 1,000hr salt spray), and suits doors up to 80mm thick. The BL5001 uses the tumbler system (lock removal required to change code) and suits doors up to 54mm thick. The BL5001MGPRO (black variant of the BL5001) also has Marine Grade Pro construction but still requires lock removal for code change.
Can I change the handing of the lock?
Yes. All BL5000 series units are factory set for right-hand doors. To change to left-hand: remove the rubber grommet at the base of the keypad handle, use the included hex wrench to remove the grub screw, lift the handle, rotate 180°, refit and retighten. Repeat for the inside handle. Handing is determined from the outside of the door: right hand = hinges on the right; left hand = hinges on the left, regardless of door swing direction.
My door is thicker than 60mm – which spindle do I use?
Two spindles are supplied (80mm and 90mm). Use the longest that fits. The general rule is: door thickness + 30mm = minimum spindle length (15mm needs to seat in each lock body). For example, a 50mm door needs a 80mm spindle minimum. If the spindle is too short it may slip out if the door is slammed. Do not cut the spindle shorter than necessary.
Additional Information
Monthly: apply a light spray of silicon-based lubricant (GT85 or equivalent) to the keypad and lever surfaces; wipe off excess. Do not use oil-based lubricants. Annually: remove the lock and spray internally through the button holes; test all buttons and lever operation. Refer to the Borg Servicing Guide PDF for full instructions.
The BL5001MGPROECP is fire rated to AS 1905.1-2005. When specifying for fire door use, confirm that all other hardware in the assembly (hinges, seals, closers) is also fire-rated and compatible with the doorset certification. The 4-hour rating is the maximum and depends on the doorset tested – confirm the doorset manufacturer's hardware schedule before specifying.
If the spindle is cut too short it may slip out of position if the door is slammed, resulting in users being locked out. Always use the longest spindle that fits. For doors thinner than required by the spindle, do not trim more than necessary. The spindle blade must be angled to the top opening edge of the door when inserted through the latch case.
All Borg locks are warranted against mechanical defects in materials and workmanship under normal use and service for a minimum of 12 months from date of sale. The warranty does not cover damage arising from misuse, vandalism, or improper installation. The lock must not be dismantled — doing so will invalidate the warranty.
