Borg BL4401 MG Pro Mechanical Digital Gate Lock – Lever/Lever – Marine Grade Pro – Black
The Borg BL4401 MG Pro is a medium-heavy duty fully mechanical digital lock in a lever/lever configuration, designed specifically for external wooden and timber gates and doors. It uses the same lever keypad housing as the BL3400 gate lock series but is supplied with a 60mm anti-thrust tubular latch suited to wooden gate and door applications. Marine Grade Pro construction with 316 stainless steel internal components and MG Pro black marine grade external coating delivers 1,000 hours of salt spray resistance.
The external lever is free-turning until the correct PIN is entered, then releases to retract the latch. The inside lever is always free to turn for immediate egress. An optional holdback function allows the inside lever to be held open for free passage. The lock is fully mechanical, requires no batteries, and accepts doors and gates from 35mm to 80mm thick. Code change uses the traditional Borg tumbler system – the lock must be removed to rearrange the internal tumblers. For on-door code change without removal, see the BL4401MGPROECP.
Usually same day if ordered before 11am AEST (excluding weekends and Qld public holidays)
316 stainless steel internal components with MG Pro black marine external grade coating. Tested to 1,000 continuous hours of salt spray. Suitable for coastal, beachside, canal-front, and marine environments.
Borg warrants corrosion resistance for 12 months from date of sale under specified conditions.
The BL4401MGPRO uses a tumbler-based code system. To change the PIN, the lock must be removed from the door. The cover plate is removed, and red coded / blue uncoded tumblers are rearranged using the supplied tweezers. Code length is adjustable from 3 to 7 digits with the spare tumblers provided. Over 8,000 combinations are available. For on-gate code change without removal, see the BL4401MGPROECP.
Entirely mechanical. No power source, no wiring, and no battery maintenance at any point.
For heavy duty: consider the Lockwood DX, Borg 7701, or Carbine CDL7000 Series.
The BL4401 MG Pro accepts one active PIN code at a time.
Installing on a narrow aluminium gate frame?
Planning to mount a Borg 2000 or 4000 series lock on an external gate with a 50mm × 50mm (or larger) aluminium frame?
Worried the standard 60mm latch included in the box won't fit the frame?
You're right — it won't.
To fit correctly on aluminium gate frames, you'll need the correct extended latch.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I change the PIN code on the BL4401MGPRO?
Code changes require removing the lock from the door. With the keypad face-down on a flat surface, remove the two red cover plate screws (take care – the plate has springs attached). Press and hold the C button, then use the supplied tweezers to rearrange the red coded and blue uncoded tumblers to set your new code combination. Replace the cover plate, refit the lock, and test the new code several times before closing the gate. The code can be 3 to 7 digits long using the spare tumblers provided. For on-door code change, see the BL4401MGPROECP.
Is this lock suitable for aluminium gate frames?
The BL4401 MG Pro is designed for wooden and timber gates. If fitting to a narrow aluminium frame (50mm x 50mm or similar), the 60mm tubular latch will not align correctly. An extended latch (BLS272000) is required for aluminium gate frame applications. For purpose-built metal box-section gate locks, consider the BL3400 or BL3430 series instead.
What is the difference between 8,000+ and 4,000+ code combinations?
The BL4401MGPRO (non-ECP) uses the tumbler code system which offers over 8,000 combinations because the code length can be set from 3 to 7 digits. The BL4401MGPROECP uses the Easicode Pro push-button system which is non-sequential (any order of the coded buttons opens the lock) and offers over 4,000 combinations. Both provide strong security for residential and light commercial applications – the difference mainly affects how the code is set and changed, and whether lock removal is required.
Additional Information
The tumbler code system requires the lock to be off the door to change the code. Set and confirm the code on the workbench before installing the lock on the gate. This is much easier than on-gate code setting and avoids having to remove a fitted lock for the first code change. Test the new code 3 to 4 times on the bench before fitting.
Monthly: clean the keypad and lever surfaces with a light spray of silicon-based lubricant (GT85 or equivalent); remove excess with a soft cloth. Do not use oil-based lubricants. Annually: remove the lock and spray internally through the button holes; test all buttons and the lever. Refer to the Borg Servicing Guide PDF for full maintenance instructions.
The BL4401 uses lever handles on both sides rather than a knob. A lever requires less grip force and torque, making it suitable for heavier or outward-opening gates and for users who may find a knob difficult to turn. For knob-style keypad locks in a marine grade construction, see the BL2601 or BL3400 series.
All Borg locks are warranted against mechanical defects in materials and workmanship under normal use and service for a minimum of 12 months from date of sale. The warranty does not cover damage arising from misuse, vandalism, or improper installation. The lock must not be dismantled — doing so will invalidate the warranty.

How a Warranty Claim Works
