Yale branded products sold in Australia are covered by manufacturer warranties issued by ASSA ABLOY Australia Pty Ltd. Warranty coverage varies by product type, with separate periods applying to mechanical components, electrical and electronic components, and keys.
This overview summarises the structure of Yale warranty coverage in Australia. Full terms, limitations, exclusions and claim procedures are set out in the official Yale Warranty document.

Finish & Material Notes
- The warranty does not apply to finishes or cosmetic and appearance damage.
- Stainless steel does not mean stain-free. Tea staining is not covered where cleaning and maintenance guidance has not been followed.
- Batteries are not covered by the warranty.
What the Warranty Covers
- Defects in material and workmanship within the applicable warranty period.
- Assessment by ASSA ABLOY or an authorised reseller to determine whether the warranty applies.
- Repair, replacement with the same or closest similar Yale product, or refund of the purchase price at ASSA ABLOY�s option.
Common Exclusions
- Normal wear and tear.
- Misuse, abuse, accident or use outside published technical specifications.
- Improper maintenance or neglect.
- Use of improper batteries or battery-related damage.
- Unauthorised alteration, modification or repair.
- Custom orders made to non-standard specifications.
- Old, second-hand or imported products not originally sold in Australia through authorised channels.
- Use of substitute or non-genuine ASSA ABLOY parts or cylinders.
- Exposure to corrosive environments including coastal air, salt spray, chemicals, contamination or high humidity.
- Removal, refitment, replacement, labour or associated charges.
Warranty Claim Process
- Retain proof of original purchase.
- If purchased from an authorised retailer or reseller, return the product to that original seller with claim details and proof of purchase.
- If claiming direct with ASSA ABLOY, contact customer service first and obtain a Case Number.
- Securely package the product and include proof of purchase.
- Clearly mark the Case Number on the outside of the packaging for direct claims.
- ASSA ABLOY will assess the claim and determine repair, replacement or refund if the warranty applies.
Australian Consumer Law
Yale warranties operate in addition to rights available under the Australian Consumer Law. Goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law.
Customers may be entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. Customers are also entitled to have goods repaired or replaced if they fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.
