Borg BL2605 MG Pro Mechanical Digital Knob Lock – Rim Mount Deadbolt – Marine Grade Pro – Matt Black
The Borg BL2605 MG Pro is a fully mechanical digital knob lock fitted with a rim-mounted surface deadbolt instead of a standard tubular latch. This makes it specifically suited to external doors and gates where the door section is too thin, too narrow, or otherwise unsuitable for a conventional tubular latch installation. The lock is part of the Marine Grade Pro series, finished in MG Pro 2 black marine grade coating and tested to 1,000 hours of continuous salt spray exposure.
Operation is deadbolt-based: entering the correct PIN code on the keypad withdraws the bolt, allowing the door to be opened. Locking from inside is done by turning the inner thumb knob to throw the bolt. Unlike tubular latch products, the deadbolt does not automatically engage when the door closes – the bolt must be manually thrown from inside each time to secure the door. The lock is fully mechanical, requires no batteries, and has no wiring of any kind.
The BL2605 MG Pro uses the traditional Borg tumbler-based code system. Code changes require removing the lock from the door. For an on-door code change version, see the BL2606 MG Pro ECP, which uses a hook bolt designed for sliding doors.
Usually same day if ordered before 11am AEST (excluding weekends and Qld public holidays)
The BL2605 MG Pro uses a surface-mounted rim deadbolt instead of a tubular latch. The deadbolt body mounts to the inside face of the door – no mortice boring into the door edge is required. This makes it the correct choice for thin-section aluminium gates, glass-framed doors, or any application where drilling a standard 25mm barrel hole through the door edge is not possible or practical.
Unlike tubular latch models, the rim deadbolt does not automatically engage when the door closes. To lock the door from inside, the inner thumb knob must be manually turned to throw the bolt. Confirm this operation suits your application before purchasing.
The BL2605 MG Pro uses Borg's MG Pro 2 marine grade external coating, providing increased protection against saltwater corrosion and UV degradation. Suitable for pool gates, waterfront properties, marina facilities, and coastal environments where standard finishes degrade prematurely.
Tested to 1,000 continuous hours of salt spray exposure. Borg warrants corrosion resistance for 12 months from date of sale under specified conditions.
The BL2605 MG Pro is entirely mechanical. No power source, no wiring, and no battery maintenance at any point in the product's lifetime.
For heavy duty: consider the Lockwood DX, Borg 7701, or Carbine CDL7000 Series.
The BL2605 MG Pro accepts one active PIN code at a time.
The BL2605 MG Pro uses a tumbler-based code system. To change the PIN, the lock must be removed from the door, the internal cover plate removed, and the red coded and blue uncoded tumblers rearranged using the supplied tweezers. For on-door code change, the BL2606 MG Pro ECP (sliding door hook bolt with Easicode Pro) is the related ECP variant.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why would I choose the BL2605 rim deadbolt over a standard tubular latch model?
The BL2605 is designed for situations where a conventional tubular latch cannot be installed. Tubular latch installation requires boring a 25mm hole through the door edge, which is not possible on thin-section aluminium gate frames, hollow-section gate posts, or glass-framed doors. The BL2605's rim deadbolt mounts to the inside face of the door – no edge boring is required. It is also suited to applications where a deadbolt throw (rather than a spring latch) is the preferred security mechanism.
Does this lock automatically lock when the gate or door closes?
No. The BL2605 MG Pro uses a rim deadbolt, not a spring latch. The bolt must be manually thrown from inside by turning the inner thumb knob. Unlike tubular latch models, the door does not automatically secure on closing. If automatic relocking is required, this product is not the correct choice.
How do I reverse the lock for a left-hand door?
Both the keypad and the rim deadbolt body must be reversed separately. For the keypad: remove the cover plate, move the handing pin from the R hole to the L hole using the handing disc, and refit. For the rim deadbolt: remove the cover plate, horizontally flip the deadbolt body, and refit the cover plate. Refer to the BL2605 Handing Instructions PDF for detailed diagrams.
How do I change the PIN code?
The BL2605 MG Pro uses the traditional Borg tumbler system. The lock must be removed from the door. With the keypad face-down on a flat surface, remove the cover plate screws and press and hold the C button. Rearrange the red coded and blue uncoded tumblers to set the new code using the supplied tweezers. Replace the cover plate, refit the lock to the door, and test the code thoroughly before closing the gate or door.
What is the difference between the BL2605 and the BL2606?
The BL2605 uses a rim-fixed deadbolt and is designed for hinged doors and gates. The BL2606 MG Pro ECP uses a hook bolt designed for sliding doors, where the bolt hooks into the sliding door frame track. The BL2606 also features Easicode Pro on-door code change. If your door slides rather than swings, the BL2606 is the correct product.
Additional Information
Unlike tubular latch models where only the latch needs to be reversed, the BL2605 requires both the keypad and the rim deadbolt body to be individually handed. The keypad uses a handing pin and disc mechanism; the rim deadbolt is reversed by removing the cover plate and flipping the bolt body. Both must be set to the same hand. Test the knob rotates freely in the correct direction after reversing – the knob should rotate freely in one direction and be solid in the other before the code is entered.
The BL2605 includes both a morticed lock keep and a surface-mounted strike, giving installers flexibility depending on the gate post or door frame construction. On thin-section aluminium frames where morticing is not possible, the surface-mounted strike can be used. Confirm which strike configuration suits your frame before installation.
The Borg BL2605 series maintenance instructions specify the following schedule: Weekly – clean the surface of the lock with marine grade chrome polishing liquid and spray the exposed bolt and deadbolt components with WD-40 or equivalent. Annually – remove the lock, spray the inside through the tumbler holes with WD-40, spray all fixings and the deadbolt, then test all buttons and the knob for smooth operation. Note: the BL2605 series instructions specify WD-40 (unlike the general Borg servicing guide which recommends silicon-based lubricant) – follow the product-specific instructions.
The factory preset code is printed on the Code Card included in the box. Change the code before fitting the lock – it is significantly easier to work with the lock face-down on a flat surface than after installation. Once the lock is fitted to the gate or door, any code change requires full removal. Set and verify the new code at least three to four times on the bench before mounting.
All Borg locks are warranted against mechanical defects in materials and workmanship under normal use and service for a minimum of 12 months from date of sale. The warranty does not cover damage arising from misuse, vandalism, or improper installation. The lock must not be dismantled — doing so will invalidate the warranty.

Borg Digi-Mech 2605 Marine Knob Rim Mnt D'Blt BLK
The team at Terry's Gold Coast Smart Locks are very helpful, and professional. The delivery was fantastic. The lock it's self , is very well built, and esthetically pleasing. It is very easy to follow the instructions to change lock side, and combination. The gate thickness size, is a bit deceiving as I fitted it perfectly to a thinner gate( 28 mm thick), only having to cut down the securing screws length to suit, unfortunately after already making spacer plates that were not required. My only issue is, and it is only because I felt the description was deceiving , and should be made clear is. The code that you input has no specific input order. ie the code numbers can be inputted / pressed in any sequence to unlock(no double digits). So as long as you press all your coded buttons and none of the non code buttons it will unlock. So if the code buttons eventually show signs of wear, or show clean, versus dirty, someone could get the code. It is something to consider pre purchase. Hence loosing a rating star. Apart from that , all in all we are very happy with the Borg lock. Thanks Jim and staff
