Borg Mechanical Digital BL2127 Marine Grade EasiCode Pro Deadbolt – Back-to-Back Keypads – Matt Black

The Borg BL2127 is the back-to-back (BTB) version of the Borg BL2107 — a fully mechanical pushbutton deadbolt with Easi-Code Pro (ECP) on-door code change. Both the outside and inside of the door have a full keypad, with the correct code required to retract the deadbolt from either side. There is no free inside egress: the inside keypad must be operated to unlock the door from within.

Built from a cast housing with stainless steel buttons and finished in black marine external grade coating (MG Pro), tested to 1,000 hours salt spray for use in coastal, marine, and saline environments. Easi-Code Pro allows the code to be changed while the lock remains installed. An optional code change disabling plug is included for both keypads — preventing unauthorised code changes from either side.

The BL2127 uses a 25mm throw mortice deadbolt with a dual 60/70mm backset follower included as standard. The inside knob provides codeless locking — the door can be locked from the inside without entering a code. To unlock from inside, the correct code must be entered on the inside keypad. The lock suits doors from 35mm to 85mm thick and is rated for external medium duty doors and gates.

Back-to-Back Keypads – Code Required Both Sides
Both the outside and inside of the door have a full keypad. The correct code must be entered to retract the deadbolt from either side. There is no free inside egress. To lock the door from inside without code, turn the inside knob — this throws the deadbolt without requiring code entry (codeless locking). To unlock from inside, enter the code on the inside keypad.
Caution icon
No Free Egress from Inside
The inside keypad requires the correct PIN before the deadbolt retracts. Confirm this suits your application and complies with any applicable fire egress or building regulations before purchasing.

Easi-Code Pro
Codes can be changed while the lock remains installed on the door. Both keypads share the same code; the code change procedure is performed from either side.

Easi-Code Pro — How to Change the Code

The code can be changed with the lock installed on the door. The door must be in the open position. You must know the current code before changing it. The code change procedure is the same on either keypad — both keypads will then operate on the new code.

  1. Enter the existing code on either keypad.
  2. Insert the code change key into the hole in the * button. Press fully and hold until step 5.
  3. Press the C button to clear the existing code.
  4. Enter the new code.
  5. Release the code change key from the * button.
  6. Press C to set the new code.
  7. The new code is now active on both keypads.
  8. Test the new code 5 times on both sides, confirming it withdraws the bolt, before closing the door.

If a mistake is made during code entry while the * button is held, press C to cancel and start again from step 3. The C button acts as a reset during programming without releasing the * button.

Maintenance Guide

Monthly:
Apply a light spray of silicon-based lubricant (such as GT85) to both keypad surfaces and all exposed elements of the deadbolt assembly. Remove excess with a soft cloth. Do not use oil-based lubricants such as WD-40 — these attract dirt and can damage internal components.
Annually:
  1. Remove the lock from the door.
  2. Spray the inside of both keypads with GT85 or similar silicon-based lubricant through the tumbler holes on the reverse. Remove excess with a soft cloth.
  3. Spray all fixings, accessories, and the deadbolt with silicon-based lubricant.
  4. Push each button on both keypads and operate the deadbolt several times to confirm smooth operation and that all buttons return fully to their outward position.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between BL2127 and BL2107?

The BL2127 is the back-to-back version — it has a keypad on both sides, requiring code entry to unlock from either side. The BL2107 is single-sided — keypad outside only, with a free inside knob for locking and an inside handle that can operate the bolt from within without a code. Choose BL2127 where controlled access from both sides is required; choose BL2107 where free inside egress is needed.

Can I open the door from inside without the code?

No. The inside keypad requires the correct PIN to retract the deadbolt. To lock the door from inside, turn the inside knob (codeless locking). To unlock from inside, enter the code on the inside keypad. Confirm this suits your application and complies with any applicable fire egress regulations before installing.

Do both keypads share the same code?

Yes. Both the outside and inside keypads share a single active code. The code change procedure can be performed from either keypad — once changed, the new code is active on both sides immediately.

What does the code change disabling plug do?

The optional disabling plug is inserted into the * button hole on a keypad. This physically blocks access to the code change function from that side — preventing the code from being changed from outside and/or inside. Two plugs are included (one per keypad) and can be installed or removed independently at any time.

What does "codeless locking" mean on a BTB deadbolt?

Codeless locking means the door can be locked from the inside by turning the interior knob without entering a code. This is useful when you want to secure the door quickly from inside. To unlock from inside requires entering the code on the inside keypad. The deadbolt cannot be operated freely from either side without code entry — only locking (throwing the bolt) is codeless from inside.

Is the BL2127 suitable for pool gates?

The BL2127 is rated for external medium duty doors and gates and is salt spray tested to 1,000 hours. However, confirm your local pool gate compliance requirements — Australian pool barrier regulations typically require self-closing and self-latching mechanisms that a deadbolt may not satisfy on its own. Additionally, requiring code entry from inside to exit may conflict with pool safety egress requirements. Confirm with a licensed pool safety inspector before specifying.

Additional Information

Spindle Orientation:
When positioning the spindle, ensure it faces towards the top opening edge of the door as viewed from the keypad side. Use the longest spindle supplied — a spindle that is too short may move out of position if the door is slammed. If the spindle needs to be cut, only cut from the inside handle side. The keypad side must not be cut as the full bladed portion is required.
Dual Backset Follower:
The deadbolt includes both a 60mm and 70mm follower as standard. Select the correct follower to match your door's mortice position before installation. No additional parts are required for either backset.
Marine Grade Coating:
The MG Pro black coating is tested to 1,000 hours salt spray. Regular monthly silicon-based lubrication is recommended to maintain corrosion resistance and smooth operation in coastal environments. Do not use oil-based products.
