Borg BL2601 MG Pro Mechanical Digital Knob Lock – Marine Grade Pro – 316 Stainless Steel – Matt Black
The Borg BL2601 MG Pro is the manufacturer's highest-specification fully mechanical digital knob lock for outdoor and coastal environments. Designated Marine Grade Pro (MG Pro), it is constructed from 316 stainless steel throughout – including the latch – and is finished in a matt black Marine Pro coating engineered for extended resistance to salt air, UV exposure, and harsh weather. The lock has been independently tested to 1,000 hours of continuous salt spray, and Borg warrants corrosion resistance for 12 months from date of sale.
The BL2601 MG Pro uses a clutching knob mechanism: the external knob remains free-turning until the correct PIN is entered. The inside lever is always free to turn for immediate egress. An anti-thrust deadlatch pin secures the latch automatically when the gate or door closes. The lock is fully mechanical, requires no batteries, and has no wiring or power connection of any kind.
The code is set via an internal tumbler system. Code changes require removing the lock from the door, rearranging red coded and blue uncoded tumblers using the supplied tweezers, and refitting. Code length is adjustable from 3 to 7 digits. The code is non-sequential – digits can be entered in any order. For on-door code change without removal, see the BL2601 MG Pro ECP with Easicode Pro.
The BL2601 MG Pro accepts doors from 35mm to 80mm thick, making it suitable for a wider range of gate and door constructions than the standard marine grade range.
Usually same day if ordered before 11am AEST (excluding weekends and Qld public holidays)
The BL2601 MG Pro is built from 316 stainless steel throughout, including the latch body. 316 SS provides significantly higher resistance to chloride-induced corrosion than standard stainless or marine grade finishes, making it the correct specification for pool gates, waterfront properties, and saline coastal environments.
The BL2601 MG Pro has been tested to 1,000 continuous hours of salt spray, and Borg warrants corrosion resistance for 12 months from date of sale. This is a significantly higher specification than standard marine grade products and is designed for the most demanding coastal and outdoor access control applications.
The BL2601 MG Pro is entirely mechanical. There is no power source, no wiring, and no battery maintenance. Code entry and latch operation are purely mechanical at all times.
For heavy duty: consider the Lockwood DX, Borg 7701, or Carbine CDL7000 Series.
The BL2601 MG Pro accepts one active PIN code at a time. Multiple codes cannot be stored simultaneously.
The BL2601 MG Pro uses a tumbler-based code system. Changing the PIN requires removing the lock from the door, rearranging the internal red coded and blue uncoded tumblers with the supplied tweezers, and refitting. For on-door code change without removal, see the BL2601 MG Pro ECP with Easicode Pro.
Installing on a narrow aluminium gate frame?
Planning to mount this lock on an external gate with a 50mm × 50mm (or larger) aluminium frame?
Worried the standard 60mm latch included in the box won't fit the frame?
You're right — it won't.
To fit correctly on gate frames you will need the correct extended latch.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between the BL2601MGPRO and the BL2600MGBC?
The BL2601 MG Pro is a higher specification product. It is constructed from 316 stainless steel (the same grade used in marine and food-processing equipment) and has been tested to 1,000 hours of continuous salt spray exposure. The BL2600 MG uses standard marine grade materials and finish. For properties within a few hundred metres of the ocean, on canals, or adjacent to pools, the BL2601 MG Pro is the better-suited product.
How do I change the PIN code?
The BL2601 MG Pro uses an internal tumbler system. To change the code, the lock must be removed from the door. With the keypad face-down on a flat surface, remove the two red cover plate screws and press and hold the C button. Use the supplied tweezers to rearrange the red coded and blue uncoded tumblers to your new code combination. Replace the cover plate, refit the lock, and test the new code several times before closing the gate or door. Record the new code on the Code Card.
Is there a version with on-door code change?
Yes. The BL2601 MG Pro ECP uses the same 316 SS construction and Marine Pro finish but adds the Easicode Pro (ECP) on-door code change system. This allows the code to be changed while the lock is installed on the door using the included code change key. Choose the ECP version if code changes will be performed regularly on site without removing the lock.
Will this fit my aluminium gate frame?
The 60mm backset latch supplied in the box is designed for standard door applications. On narrow aluminium gate frames (50mm x 50mm or similar), the standard latch will not align correctly. An extended gate latch (model BLS272000 – left and right hand options available) is required. Search BLS272000 on the site before completing your order if you are fitting to a gate frame.
Is the BL2601 MG Pro suitable for pool gates in Queensland?
The lock provides keyless access and 316 SS corrosion resistance appropriate for pool gate environments. However, pool gate compliance in Queensland is governed by the Pool Safety Standard under the Building Act 1975 and requires specific self-closing and self-latching mechanisms. Compliance must be confirmed with a licensed pool safety inspector before specifying any lock for a pool gate. Terry's can advise on the correct gate latch and installation configuration.
Additional Information
The lock ships with a factory preset code printed on the Code Card in the box. Change the code before installing the lock – it is far easier on the bench than after fitting. The code change procedure requires the lock to be off the door every time, so getting this right before first installation avoids an immediate removal and refit.
Standard stainless steel (304 grade) provides adequate corrosion resistance for most indoor applications, but in coastal environments with salt-laden air – particularly within 500 metres of the ocean or on canal-front properties – 304 SS can develop surface rust or pitting within months. 316 grade stainless adds molybdenum to the alloy, significantly improving resistance to chloride-induced corrosion. The BL2601 MG Pro's 1,000 hour salt spray test verifies this performance under independent testing conditions.
Even with 316 SS construction, periodic maintenance extends service life in extreme coastal environments. Monthly: wipe down with a silicon-based lubricant (such as GT85) applied by light spray; remove excess with a soft cloth. Do not use oil-based lubricants such as WD-40 – these attract dirt and degrade internal components. Annually: remove the lock and spray internally through the tumbler holes; test all buttons and knob function. Full servicing instructions are in the Borg Servicing Guide PDF below.
The anti-thrust pin beside the latchbolt must NOT enter the hole drilled for the latchbolt in the strike plate. If it does, the deadlatch function will not activate and the latch may be vulnerable to shimming. Adjust the strike plate position so the anti-thrust pin sits on the face of the strike plate when the door or gate is fully closed. Check this during installation before the gate is put into regular service.
All Borg locks are warranted against mechanical defects in materials and workmanship under normal use and service for a minimum of 12 months from date of sale. The warranty does not cover damage arising from misuse, vandalism, or improper installation. The lock must not be dismantled — doing so will invalidate the warranty.
