Borg BL2600 MG Mechanical Digital Knob Lock – Marine Grade – 60mm Backset – Satin Chrome
The Borg BL2600 MG is a fully mechanical digital knob lock built for outdoor and coastal environments. Designated as Marine Grade (MG), it is constructed to resist the corrosion and UV exposure typical of Queensland gate and outdoor door installations. It operates without batteries and requires no electrical connection or wiring of any kind.
The lock uses a clutching knob mechanism – the external knob remains free-turning until the correct PIN code is entered, preventing forced rotation. The inside lever is always free to turn, providing immediate egress. An anti-thrust deadlatch pin ensures the door or gate secures automatically on closing.
Code change on the BL2600 MG is performed via the internal tumbler system, which requires the lock to be removed from the door. The code is set by rearranging red (coded) and blue (uncoded) tumblers inside the keypad using the supplied tweezers. Code length can be set between 3 and 7 digits. For a version with on-door code change, see the BL2601 MG Pro ECP.
Usually same day if ordered before 11am AEST (excluding weekends and Qld public holidays)
The BL2600 MG is rated Marine Grade, indicating corrosion-resistant materials and construction suitable for outdoor gates, exposed coastal locations, and environments subject to salt air, moisture, and UV exposure.
Marine grade finish provides enhanced resistance to corrosion compared to the standard Borg range. Suitable for pool gates, coastal homes, and outdoor access points where standard stainless or chrome finishes may degrade over time.
The BL2600 MG is entirely mechanical. There is no power source, no wiring, and no battery maintenance. Code entry and latch operation are purely mechanical.
For heavy duty: consider the Lockwood DX, Borg 7701, or Carbine CDL7000 Series.
The BL2600 MG accepts one active PIN code at a time. Multiple codes cannot be stored simultaneously.
The BL2600 MG uses a tumbler-based code system. To change the PIN, the lock must be removed from the door, the internal cover plate removed, and the red (coded) and blue (uncoded) tumblers rearranged using the supplied tweezers. For on-door code change without removal, see the BL2601 MG Pro ECP with Easicode Pro.
Installing on a narrow aluminium gate frame?
Planning to mount this lock on an external gate with a 50mm × 50mm aluminium frame?
Worried the standard 60mm latch included in the box won't fit the frame?
You're right — it won't.
To fit correctly on gate frames you will need a short latch.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I change the PIN code on the BL2600 MG?
The BL2600 MG uses a tumbler-based code system. To change the code, the lock must be removed from the door. Turn the keypad over, remove the two red cover plate screws, then press and hold the C button. Use the supplied tweezers to rearrange the red coded tumblers and blue uncoded tumblers to set your new code. Replace the cover plate, refit the lock, and test the new code several times before closing the gate or door. Note the new code on the Code Card for reference.
What is the difference between the BL2600 MG and the BL2601 MG Pro ECP?
Both are marine grade mechanical digital locks. The BL2600 MG uses the traditional tumbler code system, which requires the lock to be removed from the door to change the code. The BL2601 MG Pro ECP features Easicode Pro, which allows the code to be changed on the door using the included code change key – no removal required. If code changes will be needed frequently on site, the BL2601 MG Pro ECP is the better choice.
Will this lock fit on my aluminium gate frame?
The 60mm backset latch supplied in the box is designed for standard door applications. On narrow aluminium gate frames (50mm x 50mm or similar), the standard latch will not align correctly with the gate frame. An extended gate latch (model BLS272000 – left and right hand options available) is required. Search BLS272000 on the site for the compatible gate latch before ordering.
Can I enter the code digits in any order?
Yes. The BL2600 MG is non-sequential. If the code is set to buttons 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5, the lock will open when all five of those buttons have been pressed, regardless of the order they are entered. This means the code can be pressed 5-4-3-2-1, 3-1-5-2-4, or any other sequence as long as all five coded buttons are pressed before turning the knob.
Is the BL2600 MG suitable for pool gate compliance?
The BL2600 MG provides keyless access control and corrosion-resistant construction suitable for pool gate environments. However, pool gate compliance in Queensland is governed by the Pool Safety Standard under the Building Act 1975, which sets specific requirements for latching, height, and self-closing mechanisms. Confirm compliance requirements with a licensed pool safety inspector or building certifier before specifying any lock for a pool gate. Terry's can advise on the correct extended latch and installation approach.
Additional Information
The lock ships with a factory preset code shown on the Code Card included in the box. It is strongly recommended to change the code before installing the lock. Code changes require the lock to be off the door, making it far easier to do on the bench before fitting. Once installed, any future code change will require removing the lock from the gate or door and repeating the tumbler process.
Because the code is non-sequential, it is not possible to observe a correct sequence by watching someone enter their code. However, button wear patterns over time can indicate which buttons are in use. Where security of the code is important, consider changing the code periodically and using a code that includes buttons spread across the keypad rather than grouped together.
Despite marine grade construction, periodic maintenance is recommended to extend the service life of the lock in coastal environments. Monthly: wipe down the keypad and latch with a silicon-based lubricant (such as GT85) and remove excess with a soft cloth. Do not use oil-based lubricants such as WD-40 – these attract dirt and degrade internal mechanisms over time. Annually: remove the lock, spray internals through the tumbler holes with silicon-based lubricant, and test all buttons and the knob. See the Borg Servicing Guide (PDF download below) for full servicing instructions.
The anti-thrust pin beside the latchbolt deadlocks the bolt when the door or gate closes. It is critical that the anti-thrust pin does NOT enter the hole made for the latchbolt in the strike plate. If it does, the strike plate position must be adjusted so the anti-thrust pin sits flat on the face of the strike plate. Check this during installation before the gate is put into regular use.
When fitting the spindle, always use the longest spindle possible for the door or gate thickness. If the spindle is cut too short, a hard slam of the gate can cause the spindle to slip out of position, preventing the gate from being opened from either side. Use the 100mm spindle where door thickness permits before considering the 85mm spindle.
All Borg locks are warranted against mechanical defects in materials and workmanship under normal use and service for a minimum of 12 months from date of sale. The warranty does not cover damage arising from misuse, vandalism, or improper installation. The lock must not be dismantled — doing so will invalidate the warranty.

How a Warranty Claim Works
Warranty claims for Borg products in Australia are processed through LSC, the authorised Australian importer and distributor for Borg Locks.
