Borg BL2020SC Mechanical Digital Lock – Knob/Knob Back-to-Back – Satin Chrome
The Borg BL2020SC is a fully mechanical digital lock in a knob/knob back-to-back (BTB) configuration. Both sides of the door have an identical knob keypad — the correct PIN must be entered to operate the knob from either side. There is no free inside egress; code required to enter and exit.
This is the compact BL2000 series equivalent of the BTB knob/knob format — lighter in duty and smaller in profile than the BL5101SC, suited to internal and sheltered external doors where space or budget is a consideration. Satin chrome finish. Over 8,000 combinations with the traditional tumbler code system (lock removal required to change code). Fully mechanical — no batteries. Suits doors from 35mm to 54mm thick.
Usually same day if ordered before 11am AEST (excluding weekends and Qld public holidays)
The BL2020SC has a knob keypad on both sides. Both knobs are clutched — free-turning only after the correct PIN is entered. There is no free inside egress: code must be entered from whichever side you are on. The same code operates both sides.
The inside knob requires the correct PIN before it will retract the latch. Confirm this suits your application and complies with any applicable fire egress or building regulations before purchasing.
Tumbler-based code system. To change the PIN, the lock must be removed from the door. Remove the 4 red screws, carefully lift the cover plate (springs attached), hold the C tumbler depressed, then use the supplied tweezers to reposition the red (coded) and blue (uncoded) tumblers. Over 8,000 combinations; code length adjustable 3–7 digits.
Entirely mechanical. No power source, no wiring, and no battery maintenance at any point.
For heavy duty: consider the Borg BL7701, Lockwood DX, or Carbine CDL7000.
Accepts one active PIN code at a time. The same code operates both sides.

Installing on a narrow aluminium gate frame?
Planning to mount a Borg 2000 or 4000 series on an external gate with a 50mm × 50mm aluminium frame? Worried if the standard latch included in the box will fit?
You’re right — it won’t.
To get this lock working properly on gate frames, you’ll need a shorter latch.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between BL2020SC and BL5101SC?
Both are knob/knob back-to-back satin chrome locks requiring code from both sides. The BL5101SC uses the BL5000 series body — heavier duty, larger profile, cycle tested to higher ratings. The BL2020SC uses the smaller, lighter-duty BL2000 series body. Choose BL2020SC for lighter-duty applications where the compact BL2000 profile suits the installation; choose BL5101SC where a more robust body is required.
How do I change the PIN code?
The lock must be removed from the door. Remove the 4 red screws, carefully lift the cover plate (springs are attached), hold the C tumbler depressed at all times, then use the supplied tweezers to reposition the red (coded) and blue (uncoded) tumblers. All square cut-outs must face outward; coloured marks must face upward. Test before reinstalling. Codes are non-sequential — buttons can be pressed in any order. Spare tumblers adjust code length from 3 to 7 digits. Set and verify the code on the bench before installation if possible.
Can each side have a different code?
No. The BL2020SC operates on a single shared code. Both sides use the same PIN. If independent codes per side are required, see the BL5051SC or BL5151SC which have independent coding chambers.
Is this fire rated?
The BL2020SC is not listed with a fire door certification in the available documentation. If fire door compliance is a requirement, confirm with Borg Locks Australia or your fire door certifier before specifying. For fire rated back-to-back locks, the BL5051 or BL5101 series may be more appropriate.
Additional Information
The tumbler code can be set on the bench before installation. Set and verify the code before mounting both sides. This avoids removing a fitted keypad for the first code change and confirms the lock operates correctly before installation.
Both sides require code entry. Confirm this complies with emergency egress requirements for your specific application. In escape routes or rooms where free exit is legally required, a BTB lock requiring code entry from inside may not be compliant. Confirm with your building certifier or fire safety consultant.
All Borg locks are warranted against mechanical defects in materials and workmanship under normal use and service for a minimum of 12 months from date of sale. The warranty does not cover damage arising from misuse, vandalism, or improper installation. The lock must not be dismantled — doing so will invalidate the warranty.

How a Warranty Claim Works
Warranty claims for Borg products in Australia are processed through LSC, the authorised Australian importer and distributor for Borg Locks. If the returned item is found by LSC to be defective, it will be repaired or replaced. Products must be returned to the LSC office with freight charges prepaid within the warranty period. A detailed assessment report is provided to the customer after examination.
Contact Terry’s Locksmiths first — we will assess the issue and manage the warranty process with LSC on your behalf. You do not need to contact LSC or Borg Locks UK directly.
