The lock is rated to AS4145.2-2008 Security Level 8 (SL8) for physical security and Durability Grade 8 (D8) — the highest grades available under the Australian lockset standard. It is endorsed by the Security Construction and Equipment Committee (SCEC) at Security Level 3 (SL3) when installed with an approved keying system, making it suitable for government and secure-facility applications.

The MS2602 supports single-action egress in compliance with Australian building egress codes. The cylinder egress turn operates in a downward motion. The dormakaba MS2602 is fire rated to 4 hours when installed correctly in a compliant fire door assembly. This makes it suitable for fire doors in commercial buildings, stairwells, and emergency egress applications. All other hardware in the assembly — including the door closer, hinges, and seals — must also be fire rated and compatible with the certified doorset.

AS4145.2-2008 SL8 / D8 — What These Grades Mean:
AS4145.2 is the Australian Standard for locksets and locksets for hinged doors. The security level (SL) grades rate physical resistance to attack, from SL1 (light duty residential) to SL8 (highest commercial security). The durability grade (D) rates mechanical cycle life, from D1 to D8. Fire Door Installations:
For fire door applications, confirm that the complete door assembly is certified — including the door leaf, frame, closer, hinges, seals, and all hardware. Lock certification alone does not make a fire door compliant. In Queensland, fire doors in Class 2-9 buildings require maintenance under AS1851 and QDC MP 6.1. Cylinder and Function Selection:
The MS2602 is a versatile lock body, but selecting the correct function configuration requires understanding how the door needs to operate on both sides. For emergency egress, single-action egress (required under the NCC for certain occupancies), or privacy functions, the cylinder and adaptor combination must be matched precisely to the function code. Incorrect selection can result in a door that does not comply with egress requirements. Engage a licensed locksmith to specify and install the correct configuration, particularly on fire doors and in commercial buildings.

Anti-lockout Function:
The MS2602 includes an anti-lockout (kick-off) mechanism as standard on applicable function configurations. This prevents the lock from being accidentally left in the locked position from inside, ensuring egress is always available. Note: the anti-lockout function is standard on most vestibule, entrance, and patio configurations, but is NOT standard on the T (Turn Exit Door Lock) function.
