Austyle 49429 Entrance Mortice Lock - 60mm Backset - Satin Stainless Steel
The Austyle 49429 is a 304 stainless steel entrance mortice lock body designed for use with the Austyle 59405 Lever Latch Set and the Austyle 59407 Digital Lever Entrance Set. It provides the mechanical locking function for standard hinged timber and aluminium doors where one of those digital levers is the access control unit. The 49429 features a 60mm backset, 85mm centre-to-centre spindle spacing, and a 240 x 22mm faceplate in a satin stainless steel finish.
This mortice is sold separately. The 59406 Lever Entrance Set already includes the 49429 in the box - purchase the 49429 separately only when ordering the 59405 lever latch set (which does not include a mortice), or as a replacement for a worn or damaged mortice in an existing installation. Refer to the Mortice Selection section below if you are unsure which mortice your door requires.

Mortice Selection - Which Lock Body Do You Need?
The Austyle 59407 digital lever is compatible with three different mortice lock bodies. The 59405 uses the 49429 only. Confirm your door type and backset before ordering.
A mortice lock seats into a pocket routed into the edge of the door, rather than fitting through a bored cylindrical hole. If you are not sure whether your door is prepared for a mortice, our guide to bored cylindrical vs mortice door prep explains the difference. Use our guide to measuring your lock backset to confirm which backset your existing door preparation uses.

Frequently Asked Questions
No. The 59406 Lever Entrance Set already includes the 49429 mortice in the box. Purchase the 49429 separately only when ordering the 59405 lever latch set (which does not include a mortice), or as a replacement for an existing installation.
The 49429 is a standard entrance mortice with a 60mm backset and 240 x 22mm faceplate, designed for standard hinged timber and aluminium doors. The 49425 is a sliding door mortice with a 28mm backset and 270 x 22mm faceplate, featuring dual locking bolts for sliding door and shallow-backset aluminium door applications. If your door has a 60mm backset, the 49429 is the correct choice. See our guide to measuring your lock backset if you are unsure.
Austyle confirms compatibility with the 59405 and 59407 digital lever sets only. It is not listed as compatible with other Austyle lever models. Do not assume interchangeability with products outside this confirmed pairing.
No. This product is the mortice lock body only. Cylinder, strike plate, and all fixing hardware are supplied with the compatible digital lever set (59405 or 59407) and are not included with the 49429.
Additional Information
The most common ordering error is purchasing a mortice with the wrong backset. Measure from the edge of the door to the centre of the existing cylinder or bolt hole. If the measurement is 60mm, the 49429 is the correct choice. If the measurement is closer to 28-30mm, you likely need the 49425 (28mm) or the 49421 (30mm, 59407-only, not sold separately). See our guide to measuring your lock backset before ordering. For a full explanation of door preparation types and how mortice locks fit, see our guide to cylindrical vs mortice door preparation.
When the 49429 mortice is installed with the 59405 lever, the spindle hub arrow must point downward. When installed with the 59407 lever, the spindle hub arrow must point toward the handle. These are different rules for the two levers - installing with the wrong arrow direction is the most common cause of the lock failing to operate after installation. See our guide to the spindle position installation mistake.
