FORGE A7X Automatic Push Pull Smart Lock - 3D Face, Tuya Bluetooth
At A Glance
(Bluetooth)
(Add Gateway)
The FORGE A7X Automatic Push Pull Smart Lock (FESMTLKA7XATCA) adds 3D face recognition to FORGE's automatic push pull design: walk up, look at the lock and the motorised latch opens, then relocks itself 30 seconds later.
It opens seven ways - 3D face, fingerprint, PIN code, RFID card, NFC, the Tuya app over Bluetooth and a mechanical key - in an antique copper finish. FORGE's page says remote use needs a Bluetooth gateway, sold separately. It runs on 8 x AA batteries and suits doors 35-100 mm thick on a 60 mm-backset mortice.
The fingerprint-only version is the FORGE A7. Made in China for FORGE, an Australian brand based in Ringwood, Victoria, with FORGE's 2-year warranty.
Usually ships in 24 hours.
Owned by FORGE Electrical (Australia) · Manufactured in China. Our independent FORGE brand profile sets out how the range compares with the other brands we stock.
Access Methods
From the inside, a single touch on the button opens or locks the door; the latch is motorised, so the lock does the work. Only the administrator's credential and the key open the door while it is locked from inside.

Tuya App - Bluetooth
The A7X connects to the free Tuya app on your phone over Bluetooth - FORGE lists the connection as Bluetooth, Tuya app compatible ![]()
. The lock's settings menu has a Tuya Bluetooth setting that puts it in pairing mode (leaflet page 2). Register your administrator on the keypad first, then pair the lock in the app with your phone beside the door.
Over Bluetooth the app works when your phone is near the lock - what a lock can do without Wi-Fi. FORGE's page says the remote functions - letting a friend in from elsewhere and setting up temporary passcodes for guests remotely - need a Bluetooth gateway, sold separately. The FORGE Zigbee 3.0 and Bluetooth gateway is the Bluetooth gateway FORGE sells for its Tuya locks; FORGE's Bluetooth pairing guide shows how a Tuya gateway is added to the app and then picks up a Bluetooth lock. What a gateway does is explained in Chapter 08.
Which platform suits you is set out in our TTLock vs Tuya comparison and which smart lock platform is right for you. For on-demand remote unlock and scheduling from one app, compare a TTLock model with a gateway.
Key Features
- Fully automatic push pull action - the motorised latch locks and unlocks itself; a single touch on the fingerprint reader or the inside button does the rest - smart locks on push pull doors.
- Relocks itself 30 seconds after unlocking (FORGE).
- 3D structured-light face recognition - real people only, users 1.3-1.95 m tall, best at 0.7 m (FORGE) - liveness detection explained.
- Fingerprint and PIN (up to 100 combined), RFID card, NFC (per FORGE), the Tuya app over Bluetooth and a mechanical key.
- Inside lock: when locked from inside, only the administrator and the key can open the door - what an inside lock disables.
- Anti-peep codes; five wrong attempts within a minute lock the keypad for 3 minutes with an alarm, and forcing the lock sets off an audible alarm (FORGE).
- Zinc alloy front and back panels, 68 x 420 mm; 304 stainless steel lock body; suits every opening direction.
- 8 x AA alkaline batteries for up to 400 days (FORGE), a voice low-battery warning and a USB-C backup power port - what happens when the battery dies.

Available Finish Options
Antique Copper
(This Product)
STK FESMTLKA7XATCA
Antique copper trim with a black face, as FORGE pictures the A7X - FORGE's page also calls it brushed copper.
FORGE Push Pull Smart Locks
This product is the bold row. All are fully automatic push pull locks on a mortice - compare door fit and backsets on each page, and see smart locks on push pull doors - the three pathways and all push pull smart locks.
Accessories and Spares
FORGE offers no add-ons in the A7X's options; its page names a Bluetooth gateway, sold separately, for remote use. Other gateways and bridges are in our modules and Wi-Fi gateways range.
Battery and Emergency Power
The A7X runs on 8 x 1.5 V AA alkaline batteries - FORGE rates them at up to 400 days. Face recognition draws more power, and FORGE's leaflet says all eight batteries must be fitted to use it. Batteries are not included. The lock gives a voice prompt when they run low. If they go flat, power the lock from a power bank through the USB-C port beside the keyhole and open it normally (leaflet page 1), or use the mechanical key. More on what really affects battery life and power and battery FAQs.
Weather Rating - Not Published
FORGE does not publish an IP rating for the A7X. Fit it where the outside handle is sheltered from driving rain - under a porch or awning - and see IP ratings explained and coastal environments.
FORGE A7X - Technical Specifications
Dimensions
FORGE gives the A7X's handle panels as 68 x 420 mm, inside and out. Check the door thickness (35-100 mm) and that the door edge takes the 6068 mortice - measuring for a push pull lock.

Platform and Data
Platform. The A7X uses the Tuya app over Bluetooth. Remote use goes through a Bluetooth gateway on your home Wi-Fi, sold separately.
Where your data goes. Tuya is a Chinese company headquartered in Hangzhou with regional data centres; by Tuya's own published country table, Australian accounts are provisioned to its Central Europe data centre, and there is no Australian data centre. Day-to-day use over Bluetooth at the door does not need the cloud. For the platform-by-platform picture see where each smart lock platform hosts its data, and for how Tuya compares with TTLock data sovereignty in our TTLock vs Tuya comparison.
Installation
The A7X fits a 6068 automatic mortice into the door edge, with the outside and inside handle panels bolted through the door and cabled to each other. FORGE's leaflet shows each step with drawings.
- Mark the door from the template with the handle about 1.0-1.2 m above the floor, then drill and cut the mortice pocket (leaflet page 1).
- Fix the mortice with the four M5 x 10 screws - or the ST4.2 x 25 self-tapping screws on a timber door - and set the transmission rod on the panel centreline.
- Fit the outside panel with its threaded sleeves, feed the cable through the top hole, then plug the outside panel and mortice cables into the inside panel's board.
- Fit the inside panel, the 8 AA batteries and the rubber stoppers; check the sensor latch throws the deadbolt, the OPEN / CLOSE button, the inside emergency knob and the key.
- After installing, re-pair the two panels: push a pin into the reset hole for 3-4 seconds until the lock beeps twice (FORGE's leaflet).
- Unsure about the cut-out? Terry's offers installation across the Gold Coast - and see misalignment, the number one install mistake.
- Register faces with nobody standing behind you, in even light - the lock talks you through it (move closer, turn, look up or down).
Which way a door is handed is explained in how to tell which way your door or gate opens.
Frequently Asked Questions
FORGE says its 3D structured-light camera only unlocks for a real person, not images - liveness detection explained.
FORGE gives 1.3-1.95 m, with the best detection at about 0.7 m from the lock.
Not on its own - FORGE's page says remote functions need a Bluetooth gateway, sold separately, such as the FORGE Zigbee 3.0 and Bluetooth gateway.
No - fit 8 x AA alkaline cells. Face recognition needs all eight fitted.
60 mm, on the 6068 automatic mortice.
Additional Information
- Face recognition uses more power. Expect shorter battery life if it is used often, and keep spare AA cells.
- Remote use needs a gateway. Over Bluetooth the app works at the door only.
- Batteries are not included. Buy 8 x AA alkaline cells with the lock.
- Keep the mechanical keys away from the door (key storage ideas).
- Fire resistance claim. FORGE states the A7X is certified for residential fire resistance to EN 1634-1:2014+A1:2018, a European test standard. It is not an Australian fire-door rating - for a door that must keep its fire rating, see our fire door range and ask us first.

FORGE A7X Automatic Push Pull Smart Lock - FAQ, Setup and Owner's Guide
Everything below is here to help you choose, fit, set up and live with the FORGE A7X. For general smart lock questions see our Smart Lock FAQ (Chapter 13), and for measuring and fitting the Buyer's Guide.
Choosing a FORGE Push Pull Lock
The motorised latch throws and withdraws itself - a fingerprint or code opens it, and it relocks 30 seconds later. You just push or pull the handle.
Through the settings menu's face option - stand at the distance the lock asks for with nobody behind you, and follow the voice prompts (leaflet page 2). FORGE's leaflet says face users can hold up to 99.
Tuya App and Remote Use
The Tuya app, over Bluetooth (leaflet page 2). FORGE lists the connection as Bluetooth, Tuya app compatible.
Only with a Bluetooth gateway on your Wi-Fi, sold separately - FORGE's page says the remote functions need one. The FORGE Zigbee 3.0 and Bluetooth gateway is FORGE's Tuya gateway.
Near the door - Bluetooth is a short-range link, so pair and manage the lock standing beside it.
Credentials and Security
Up to 100 fingerprints and passcodes combined: 1 administrator and 99 users (FORGE).
Five wrong tries within a minute lock the keypad for 3 minutes and sound an alarm (FORGE).
Locked from inside, the door opens only to the administrator's credential or the key - useful at night, but make sure everyone inside knows how to get out (best practice).
FORGE lists NFC as an unlock method. Ask us which NFC tags or phones work before relying on it.
Power and Batteries
8 x AA alkaline, not included - up to 400 days per FORGE.
Plug a power bank into the USB-C port beside the keyhole and open it normally, or use the key.
Installation and Fit
60 mm - it uses the 6068 automatic mortice. There is no backset choice for this model.
35-100 mm per FORGE - the supplied parts can be cut shorter for thinner doors.
Yes - FORGE says it suits all opening directions. See how to tell your door handing.
