Häfele Genesis DL8800 Smart Lock - Coogee Lever - Black
The Häfele Genesis DL8800 is a multi-credential smart lock built on an Australian mortice lock platform. It provides five access methods — touchscreen PIN code, RFID card or tag, fingerprint biometrics, mobile app control, and mechanical key override — and is certified to Australian fire door, lockset, and accessibility standards.
The DL8800 operates on Häfele's Smart Living App platform (available on iOS and Android), providing user management, access history, timed PIN codes, and remote unlock capability. Remote access and app management features require pairing with the Häfele Zigbee Gateway (Cat. 985.03.024, sold separately). Without a gateway, the lock operates fully via its onboard access methods.
The body is constructed from stainless steel with forged steel front and back plates and is factory tested to AS4145.2 (Australian standard for locksets and door hardware). An Australian-profile oval cylinder is included, with master keying options available to suit site keying systems.
The Häfele Genesis DL8800 is tested and certified for use on AU/NZ rated fire doors. Certified for E-Core and Firecore door systems. Pyropanel certification is pending. Tested to AS1530.4 (Fire resistance in construction).
Disability Act Compliance (DDA)
- The DL8800 lever handle is DDA compliant to AS1428.1 (Design for access and mobility).
- The Coogee lever design assists users with limited grip strength or reduced dexterity.
- DDA compliance relates to the lever handle design only and does not imply full building access compliance for the installation.

Remote App Access (Optional - Zigbee Gateway Required)
The DL8800 communicates using Zigbee wireless protocol. Remote access features — including remote unlock from anywhere in the world, timed PIN codes, access authorisation management, and access history review — are only available when the lock is paired with the Häfele Zigbee Gateway with Wi-Fi/USB Cable (Cat. 985.03.024, sold separately). The gateway connects to your home or office 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network and bridges the lock to the Häfele Smart Living App. If your router merges 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands, this can cause connectivity issues — see our guide to Wi-Fi band steering and gateway selection before installing.
Without a gateway, the lock operates fully as a standalone unit using its onboard access methods: touchscreen PIN, fingerprint, RFID card/tag, and mechanical key.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does the DL8800 connect directly to my home Wi-Fi?
No. The lock communicates using Zigbee protocol. To access remote features via the Häfele Smart Living App, the lock must be paired with the Häfele Zigbee Gateway (Cat. 985.03.024, sold separately). The gateway connects to your 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network and bridges the lock to the internet. If your router merges 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands, see our article on why smart locks sometimes drop off Wi-Fi for network setup guidance.
Is the DL8800 suitable for fire-rated doors?
Yes. The DL8800 is tested and certified to AS1530.4 for use on AU/NZ fire-rated door assemblies. It is certified for E-Core and Firecore door systems. Pyropanel certification was pending at the time of publication — confirm current status with Häfele Australia before specifying for Pyropanel assemblies. For a full explanation of fire door types and compliance, see our guide to fire door types and smart lock certification and Chapter 05 - Fire Door Smart Locks in the Smart Lock Buyer's Guide.
Can this lock be integrated into a master keying system?
Yes. Order the No Cyl Lock Kit (912.20.787) and pair it with either the MK C4 Oval 570 Cylinder (911.75.222) for C4 master keying, or the MK Restricted Oval 570 Cylinder (911.75.226) for restricted keying systems. Confirm your keying requirements with your locksmith or Häfele distributor before ordering.
What RFID credentials does the DL8800 use?
The lock uses Häfele Mifare credentials. Replacement key cards (912.20.905) and key tags (912.20.906) are available separately. Use Häfele-supplied Mifare credentials for guaranteed compatibility. Third-party Mifare credentials may work but are not manufacturer-confirmed.
My door is thicker than 50mm - can this lock still be fitted?
Yes. An accessory screw pack with extended spindles (Cat. 912.20.785) extends the compatible door thickness range to 50-70mm. For doors 50-70mm thick, an oval cylinder extension piece (Cat. 916.85.190, M4 screws not included) is also available. The standard screw pack included with the kit suits 30-50mm doors.
Additional Information
The DL8800 is certified for use on E-Core and Firecore fire door assemblies to AS1530.4. When specifying for fire door use, confirm that all other hardware in the assembly — including hinges, strikes, and door seals — is also fire rated and compatible. Pyropanel certification was listed as pending in the manufacturer brochure; confirm current certification status with Häfele Australia prior to installation. See also: apartment fire doors - what locks are actually compliant and our overview of asbestos risk in older apartment fire doors before drilling.
The DL8800 supports scramble code entry, which allows additional random digits to be entered before or after the actual PIN code. This prevents observers from identifying the correct code through shoulder surfing or wear patterns on the touchscreen. The scramble digits are ignored by the lock; only the correct sequence within the string unlocks the door.
The No Cyl Lock Kit (912.20.787) is intended for installers integrating the DL8800 into an existing site keying system. A master keyed oval cylinder is ordered separately and fitted at installation. Confirm cylinder suitability with your locksmith or Häfele distributor to ensure compatibility with your existing keying system before ordering.
IP55 confirms the lock has been tested for resistance to water spray from any direction and protection against dust ingress. This makes the lock suitable for installation on external entry doors in residential and light commercial environments. IP55 does not mean fully waterproof — avoid sustained high-pressure water contact or direct immersion. For a plain-English explanation of what IP ratings mean and how they are tested, see Chapter 11 - Australian Smart Lock Standards.
The Coogee lever handle is DDA compliant to AS1428.1 (Design for access and mobility). Compliance relates to the lever handle geometry and operation only — it does not certify the entire installation as accessible under the Disability Discrimination Act 1992. For NDIS, SDA, and aged care applications, refer to Chapter 09 - DDA, NDIS & Accessibility in the Smart Lock Buyer's Guide. The DL8800 is also featured in our guide to DDA smart locks for NDIS and disability housing.
The brochure for this product refers to a total storage capacity of 300 codes. The individual limits are: 10 administrator IDs, 100 fingerprints, 290 PIN codes, and 290 key cards/tags. These pools are not fully independent — total stored credentials must remain within the overall lock memory capacity. Manage credentials through the lock's programming mode or the Häfele Smart Living App.
