The Igloohome Retrofit Lock (model OE1) converts an existing euro profile cylinder into a Bluetooth-controlled smart lock - without any drilling, external hardware changes, or modifications to the outside of the door. The device mounts on the interior face of the door, clipping over the existing cylinder's thumb-turn or key. A magnetic door sensor is included to detect door state and enable auto-lock the moment the door closes. The existing physical key continues to operate the cylinder from the outside (the euro cylinder IS the mechanical override - see locks without a separate key override), unchanged.
For Airbnb and short-stay hosting, the Retrofit Lock pairs with igloohome's algoPIN technology and Airbnb Connect to automate guest access entirely. When a booking is confirmed, a unique time-limited PIN code is generated automatically and emailed to the guest 1 to 48 hours before check-in - no key handover, no rekeying, and no action required from the host. The code expires automatically at checkout. Because algoPIN codes are validated on the lock itself, they function whether or not the property has an internet connection at check-in time. For PIN code entry from outside, the igloohome Keypad must be added separately - without it, guests use Bluetooth via the igloohome app or the existing physical key.

Remote Access and Wi-Fi (Optional - Wi-Fi Bridge Required)
The Retrofit Lock communicates via Bluetooth 5.0 and does not connect directly to Wi-Fi. Without the optional igloohome Wi-Fi Bridge (EB1) (sold separately), the lock operates as a standalone unit - Bluetooth access, algoPIN code generation, Airbnb Connect, and auto-lock all function without internet at the property. Adding the Wi-Fi Bridge (EB1) connects the lock to your property's 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network and enables remote unlock from anywhere via the igloohome app, real-time access notifications, and on-demand activity log retrieval. Will It Fit My Door?
What is a euro profile cylinder, and how do I know if I have one?
A euro profile cylinder has a distinctive keyhole shape: a circle at the top with a narrow rectangular tail below it, forming a shape a bit like a keyhole in a cartoon. Looked at from the edge of the door, the body is elongated rather than round. It is the standard cylinder across Europe and is common in Australia on aluminium entry doors and multi-point locking systems. The most common Australian residential format - the oval cylinder - is round-bodied and will not work with this lock. If you are not sure which you have, photograph the interior face of your cylinder and send it to Terry's, or work through the Does It Fit My Door guide. What backset does the Retrofit Lock need?
Greater than 32mm from the centre of the euro cylinder to the edge of the door. The lock body needs that clearance to sit on the door face without fouling the frame. If you have never measured a backset, our guide to measuring your lock backset walks through it, and what happens when you get it wrong explains why it matters. I have a double cylinder - key both sides. Does that rule the lock out?
Not automatically, but it adds one check. The Retrofit Lock clips over the key or thumbturn on the inside. If your cylinder is one that blocks the outside keyway when a key is left inside, you would be locked out any time the Retrofit Lock is fitted over an inserted key. Test it before you order: put a key in the inside, go outside, and see whether your outside key still turns. If it does, you are fine. If it does not, either change to a cylinder that allows it or move to a different lock - we stock cylinders and barrels for smart locks.

My key head is a bit chunky. Will it still fit?
The limits are 5mm thickness, 39mm head width and 33mm head depth. Above 33mm depth - up to 38mm - the included Retrofit Extender gives the extra clearance, so a deeper key head is not a dealbreaker, it just means fitting the extender during installation. The same applies to a thumbturn: up to 29mm depth is supported, with the extender needed above 24mm. Measure before you order rather than after.

Because the lock mounts on the inside face. On an outward-opening door the lock body would sit on the hinge side of the closing action and the geometry does not work - and in practice an outward-opening door usually puts the cylinder and the frame in the wrong relationship for the sensor too. igloohome specifies inward-opening only, meaning the door swings into the house as you walk in. Handing itself is not a problem: the lock calibrates to a left-hand or right-hand door automatically during setup.

No - neither is supported on the Retrofit Lock, and there is no accessory that adds them. If fingerprint is what you want, the igloohome Deadbolt Go is the same platform with a fingerprint reader and its own keypad, though it replaces a deadbolt rather than overlaying a cylinder. For RFID, the igloohome Smart Mortice Lock V2 reads cards and fobs. Installation and Setup
What tools do I need, and how long does it take?
A #2 Phillips screwdriver, which is not supplied, and the Allen key, which is. Nothing else - no drill, no hole saw, no chisel. The mounting plate fixes to the cylinder with the Allen key and adhesive, the lock body screws onto the plate with four M3 screws, and the door sensor sticks to the frame. The longest part is usually the app setup and calibration rather than the hardware. If you would rather not do it yourself, see advice and installation.

Where exactly does the door sensor go?
On the door frame, opposite the lock, with the adhesive backing. The measurement that matters is the distance from the centre of the multi-function button on the lock to the centre of the sensor: it must be 90mm or less, or the lock cannot tell the door has closed and auto-lock will not fire. Clean the frame with a wet wipe first and press it on firmly. If your door frame is deeper than 50mm, mount the sensor perpendicular to the lock instead: unscrew the two screws on the back of the sensor, take the casing off, and stick the magnet itself to the frame.

From there it runs itself: each confirmed booking generates a code, and the guest is emailed 1 to 48 hours before check-in, on a delay you choose. The lock is beeping at me. What is it telling me?
The pattern is the message. Four rising tones with the LED flashing green twice means it unlocked. One long beep with the LED green for two seconds means it locked. A blue LED means it is connecting over Bluetooth. Three descending tones is the obstruction alarm - something is stopping the bolt. Six sets of four short beeps is the low battery warning. Three ascending tones confirms a successful pairing, and four descending beeps with a blue LED means it has been unpaired.

This is the quiet advantage of a retrofit lock over most smart deadbolts: the mechanical override is not a hidden emergency keyway added as an afterthought, it is the original cylinder, untouched, that the door already had. How do I change the batteries?
Turn the screw on the bottom of the lock to unlock, push the cover down and remove it. There are finger holes in the side of the compartment to help lift the cells out. Going back in, round terminals are positive and plate terminals are negative. Refit the cover, push it up and turn the screw back to locked. If the lock will not power up afterwards, the orientation or the cover seating is almost always the cause.

If the motor is still weak on good batteries, the door may genuinely be too heavy or too stiff for the lock, which is a compatibility answer rather than a fault. My strata will not let me change anything on the door. Is that a problem?
This is the lock's single best use case. Nothing changes on the outside of the door - not the handles, not the cylinder, not the finish. The whole device is on the inside face, held on the cylinder and the door, and it comes off again leaving the door as it was. If you ever move, it goes with you. How to Make a Claim

- Gather the required documents: your original invoice, a video clip clearly showing the defect, and proof of ownership.
- Contact Terry's Tradies Pty Ltd and its associated websites, trading names, and subsidiaries - your authorised igloohome reseller - using the Returns & Warranty page above. Warranty claims must be lodged from the country of original purchase.
- igloohome may conduct diagnostic tests to determine the nature and cause of the defect. Their assessment is final.
- If the claim is approved within the warranty period, igloohome will repair the product, replace it with the same or closest available product, or refund the amount paid - at igloohome's discretion. Repaired or replaced products continue to be covered for the remainder of the original warranty period.
- Any replaced or fully refunded product becomes the property of igloocompany and must be returned in accordance with their returns policy. Delete all personal data from the device before returning it.
Exclusions
This warranty does not cover, and will be voided by, any of the following:
- Damage from impact, shock, accident, fire, flood, earthquake, lightning or other acts of nature
- Exposure to sand, extreme temperatures or environmental conditions outside the product's specifications
- Battery corrosion or chemical corrosion
- Abuse, mishandling, improper installation, improper operation, or failure to follow igloohome's care and maintenance recommendations
- Use of incorrect electrical supply or voltage
- Damage caused by software, apps, accessories or peripheral equipment not supplied or approved by igloohome
- Unauthorised alteration, modification, adjustment or tampering
- Replacement of parts with components not supplied or approved by igloohome
- Missing accessories or external parts, unless reported within 3 calendar days of original retail purchase
- Cosmetic damage to the outer surface or finish (e.g. scratches, dents, stains)
- Deterioration due to normal wear and tear, including corrosion or rust
- Damage occurring during transit, delivery, packing, unpacking, or installation not carried out by an igloohome-authorised installer
- Non-failure problems such as reception/incompatibility issues, software updates, password resets, routine servicing, battery changes, cleaning or product demonstrations
- Software and consumable items, even if packaged or sold with the product
- Minor imperfections within design specifications that do not materially affect functionality
