Igloohome Wi-Fi Bridge - Remote Access and Notifications for igloohome Locks

The Igloohome Wi-Fi Bridge is a compact gateway accessory that connects compatible igloohome smart locks to the internet, enabling remote lock and unlock from anywhere in the world, near real-time push notifications, and on-demand activity log retrieval — all via the igloohome app (iOS and Android). It communicates with locks using Bluetooth and connects to your home or office network using 2.4GHz Wi-Fi.

Without the Bridge, igloohome locks operate fully as standalone devices — PIN codes, Bluetooth digital keys, fingerprint access, and RFID credentials all continue to function normally without any internet connection. The Bridge adds a remote access layer on top of those existing access methods without replacing or interfering with them. If the Bridge loses power or goes offline, the lock continues to work normally through all of its onboard access methods.

One Bridge supports up to five igloohome locks or devices. For Airbnb hosts and property managers, the Bridge adds the ability to receive near real-time entry notifications, create or revoke PIN codes remotely, and review access history without needing to visit the property. The Bridge also enables remote unlock, which can be used to let in tradespeople, visitors, or guests at short notice.

Wi-Fi icon
2.4GHz Wi-Fi Only - 5GHz Is Not Supported
The Bridge connects to 2.4GHz Wi-Fi networks only (802.11 b/g/n). If your router broadcasts a single merged network name that covers both 2.4GHz and 5GHz (band steering), the Bridge may fail to connect during setup. Ensure you can connect to your router's 2.4GHz band specifically. WPA2-PSK or WPA-PSK Wi-Fi security is required - open networks and WEP-encrypted networks are not supported. See our guide on why smart locks sometimes drop off Wi-Fi for troubleshooting steps.

Key Features

  • Remote lock and unlock from anywhere in the world via the igloohome app, provided the Bridge has internet connectivity.
  • Near real-time push notifications when a linked lock is unlocked, when a lock battery is low, and when the Bridge loses or regains internet connectivity.
  • On-demand activity log retrieval from linked locks - review who accessed a lock and when, directly from the app.
  • Remotely create, edit, and delete PIN codes and access credentials for linked locks without visiting the property.
  • Links up to five igloohome locks or devices per Bridge.
  • Communicates with locks via Bluetooth; connects to the internet via 2.4GHz Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g/n, WPA2-PSK or WPA-PSK).
  • 24-hour automatic Heartbeat status check - keeps lock battery level, Wi-Fi status, and Bluetooth signal strength updated in the app.
  • Night Mode turns off status indicator LEDs without interrupting connectivity - activated by double-pressing the Multi-function button.
  • App diagnostics screen shows Bridge Wi-Fi signal strength and Bluetooth signal strength to each linked lock.
  • Mains powered via USB-C cable (included); no batteries required in the Bridge itself.
  • Compact 64 x 64 x 24mm body (net weight 40g) with adhesive mounting tape included for wall or surface mounting.
  • Step-by-step guided setup through the igloohome app.

Suitable Uses

  • Airbnb and short-stay hosts who want near real-time notifications when guests arrive and the ability to create or revoke access codes remotely between bookings - without replacing the existing algoPIN offline entry system that already handles keyless check-in.
  • Multi-property operators using Hospitable, Uplisting, RemoteLock, Hosthub, or similar property management software who need to confirm arrivals and review access logs across properties without site visits.
  • Homeowners who travel frequently and want the ability to remotely unlock for trusted visitors, tradespeople, or family members on short notice.
  • Installations where activity logging and audit trail are required - the Bridge enables on-demand log retrieval via the app, eliminating the need for an on-site Bluetooth sync to recover logs.
  • Any igloohome lock installation where remote access is needed but the lock itself does not have built-in Wi-Fi.

Power

  • The Bridge is powered via the included USB-C cable, connected to a USB-A power adapter (not included) plugged into a standard wall outlet.
  • The adapter must supply a stable 5V, 1A DC output. Adapters with inconsistent or insufficient power output may cause connectivity issues. Most standard 5V/1A USB-A phone chargers are suitable.
  • The Bridge requires a permanently powered wall outlet - it is not battery powered and does not function when unplugged.
  • After powering on, the Bridge takes approximately one minute to initialise. When initialisation is complete, both the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth LEDs blink, indicating "Ready to Pair" mode. This mode remains active for 10 minutes; press the Multi-function button once to re-enter it if needed.

Setup and Configuration

The Bridge is configured entirely through the igloohome app (iOS and Android). The five-step process takes approximately five to ten minutes:

  1. Power up: Connect the USB-C cable to the Bridge and plug the other end into a 5V/1A USB-A adapter in a wall outlet. Wait approximately one minute for the Bridge to initialise - both LEDs will blink when ready.
  2. Sync your locks first: Before adding the Bridge, open the igloohome app, select each lock you intend to link, and perform a Bluetooth sync (lock - Settings - Sync). This preserves any activity logs stored on the lock before the Bridge takes over log retrieval.
  3. Add the Bridge to your account: In the app, go to Add and Manage - Bridges - + and follow the on-screen instructions. Select the Bridge ID shown on the back of the unit and confirm the pairing.
  4. Connect to 2.4GHz Wi-Fi: Enter your 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network name and password when prompted. The Bridge connects only to 2.4GHz networks.
  5. Link your locks: Select Create Link, choose each lock to connect, and use Test All Links to confirm each connection is working.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will my lock still work if the Bridge loses power or goes offline?

Yes. igloohome locks are fully self-contained and operate independently of the Bridge. PIN codes, Bluetooth digital keys, fingerprint access (where supported), and RFID credentials (where supported) all continue to work normally when the Bridge is unplugged, offline, or being set up. The Bridge adds remote access features on top of the lock's existing onboard functions - it does not replace them. For more on how igloohome's offline PIN system works, see Chapter 07 - Airbnb and Short-Stay Rentals in the smart lock buyer's guide.

My router uses one Wi-Fi name for both 2.4GHz and 5GHz - will the Bridge work?

Possibly, but band steering (a single SSID covering both 2.4GHz and 5GHz) is the most common reason the Bridge fails to connect during setup. When a band-steered router assigns the Bridge to the 5GHz band, setup fails because the Bridge only supports 2.4GHz. The most reliable fix is to create a separate 2.4GHz SSID in your router settings. If your router does not support this, check whether it allows you to force specific devices to 2.4GHz. See our blog on why smart locks sometimes drop off Wi-Fi for more detail and troubleshooting steps.

How many locks can one Bridge support?

One Bridge can be linked to a maximum of five igloohome locks or devices. If you need to manage more than five compatible devices at one location, a second Bridge is required. Each Bridge is managed and named separately in the igloohome app.

How far can the Bridge be from the lock?

The Bridge communicates with locks via Bluetooth, and the maximum line-of-sight distance varies by lock model. Within the igloohome range at Gold Coast Smart Locks, the Keybox 3 has the shortest range at less than 4m, the Retrofit Lock at less than 7m, and the Smart Mortice Lock V2 variants at less than 10m. These are line-of-sight figures - walls, doors, cabinetry, and electronic interference all reduce the effective range. Place the Bridge as close to the lock as a permanently powered wall outlet allows. The app's diagnostics screen shows Bluetooth signal strength to each linked lock and will indicate if the signal is weak. See the compatibility table above for distances by model.

Is a USB-A power adapter included?

No. The USB-C cable is included in the box, but a USB-A power adapter is not. Any USB-A adapter with a stable 5V, 1A DC output is suitable. Adapters with inconsistent or low-quality power output may cause connectivity issues. Standard 5V/1A phone chargers or USB wall adapters typically meet this requirement.

Additional Information

Band Steering and 2.4GHz Setup:
The most common reason the Bridge fails to connect during setup is band steering - where a modern router broadcasts a single Wi-Fi network name that merges both 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands. When this happens, the device joining the network is automatically assigned to whichever band the router prefers, and the Bridge ends up on 5GHz. Because the Bridge only supports 2.4GHz (802.11 b/g/n), setup fails at the Wi-Fi connection step. The solution is to log into your router settings and separate the 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks into two distinct SSIDs, then connect the Bridge to the 2.4GHz one. Also note that routers using WEP encryption or running with no password are not supported - WPA2-PSK or WPA-PSK is required. Once setup is complete and the Bridge is connected, it typically maintains a stable connection. See why smart locks sometimes drop off Wi-Fi for a full breakdown, and Chapter 08 - Smart Lock Gateway Comparison in the buyer's guide for placement guidance.
Placement for Reliable Performance:
The Bridge must simultaneously be within Bluetooth range of the lock and within Wi-Fi range of the router. Both conditions need to be met. In a typical residential installation, the entry door is often at a distance from the Wi-Fi router, so the Bridge needs to be placed somewhere along the path between the two - close enough to the lock for Bluetooth, close enough to the router for a strong Wi-Fi signal, and adjacent to a powered wall outlet. For the Keybox 3, the maximum line-of-sight Bluetooth range is only 4m, which is quite short; placement is particularly critical for that product. Use the app diagnostics screen (Add and Manage - Bridges - Diagnostics - Run diagnostics) after setup to check both the Wi-Fi signal strength and the Bluetooth signal strength to each linked lock. If either reading is poor, reposition the Bridge.
Airbnb Hosting: The Bridge as an Optional Upgrade:
igloohome's algoPIN system already handles keyless Airbnb check-in without any internet connection - guests receive a time-limited PIN that validates offline on the lock regardless of Wi-Fi status. The Bridge is not required for this to work. What the Bridge adds for Airbnb hosts is: a near real-time notification when a guest arrives and unlocks the door; the ability to see when the Keybox 3 is opened for key retrieval; on-demand access log review from the app without visiting the property; and the ability to remotely create or revoke PIN codes between bookings. For hosts managing multiple properties with Hospitable, Uplisting, RemoteLock, or similar platforms, the Bridge also enables remote unlock for situations where a guest is locked out or an access code needs to be overridden.
Night Mode:
Night Mode disables the Bridge's Wi-Fi and Bluetooth status indicator LEDs so they do not emit light at night. It is useful when the Bridge is mounted in a bedroom, hallway, or other area where the LEDs would otherwise be visible after dark. To enable Night Mode, double-press the Multi-function button quickly. Double-press again to disable it. The Bridge continues to operate normally in Night Mode - remote unlock, push notifications, and activity log retrieval are all unaffected. Night Mode does not put the Bridge to sleep or reduce its connectivity.
Sync Locks Before Adding the Bridge:
igloohome's setup documentation recommends performing a Bluetooth sync on each lock before linking it to the Bridge. The reason is that once the Bridge is linked, it begins retrieving activity logs from the lock automatically. If the lock holds unsynced logs from before the Bridge was connected, those logs may not transfer correctly. The sync step (lock - Settings - Sync in the app) ensures all existing logs are saved to the app before the Bridge takes over. This step is quick and takes only seconds per lock, and it should be completed before proceeding to the Bridge pairing steps.
