Lockwood Cortex Digital Lockset - CTX5782 with 5782 Narrow Mortice Lock, 30mm Backset, Satin Chrome, Key Override
The Lockwood Cortex CTX5782SC/5782 is a commercial grade standalone digital lockset combining a capacitive touchscreen keypad and integrated RFID card reader with the Lockwood 5782 narrow stile mortice lock. It delivers PIN code and card-based electronic access control without requiring network infrastructure, wiring, or a power supply - operating entirely on four AA batteries.
The CTX5782 is the narrow stile variant in the Cortex range, designed specifically for aluminium framed doors and other narrow stile door types where a standard 60mm backset cannot be accommodated. It uses a 30mm backset 5782 narrow mortice lock and includes a key override cylinder. It also enables two exclusive mortice-only features: Code Lockout (using the cylinder to electronically lock out all card and PIN users) and Latch Holdback (using the cylinder to hold the latch back for high-traffic periods). Both functions require the VCam accessory.
Unlike the CTX530 and CTX3772, the CTX5782 is not fire rated. Free egress from the inside is always available regardless of access mode or programming state.

Installation Tips
- A 28mm hole saw is required for door preparation. Use the supplied CTX5782 door preparation template to mark drilling positions accurately before cutting.
- Select the correct spindle length to suit the door thickness. See the spindle selection diagram below.
- The 5782 mortice lock body is deeper than the 3772 - confirm clearance within the door stile before installation, particularly on narrow aluminium profiles.
- Confirm the door stile width and internal clearance can accommodate the 5782 lock body before ordering. This is a special order item and cannot be returned.
- For Code Lockout and Latch Holdback functions, the VCam accessory must be fitted. These functions are not available without the VCam.
- Do not specify this lock for fire-rated doors. The CTX5782 has not been fire rated.
- Initial setup can be completed in under 15 seconds for a basic single-code configuration.
Frequently Asked Questions
- Why would I choose the CTX5782 over the CTX3772?
The CTX5782 is specifically designed for narrow stile door types - most commonly aluminium framed commercial doors - where the door stile is too narrow to accommodate a 60mm backset mortice lock. If your door can accept a 60mm backset, the CTX3772 is the preferred choice as it is also fire rated. Confirm your door type and backset requirement before ordering, as the CTX5782 is a special order item and cannot be returned. - Is the CTX5782 suitable for fire doors?
No. The CTX5782 is not fire rated and must not be specified for fire-rated door assemblies. If a fire-rated Cortex digital lockset is required, select the CTX530 (530 tubular latch, no key override) or the CTX3772 (3772 mortice lock, key override) - both are fire rated up to 2 hours per AS1905.1-2005. - What is the difference in depth between the CTX5782 and the other Cortex models?
The CTX5782 escutcheon panels are 52mm deep, compared to 32mm on the CTX530 and CTX3772. This greater depth is due to the 5782 narrow stile mortice lock body. Confirm that the door profile and any adjacent hardware can accommodate this depth before installation. - What happens if the batteries run flat?
The Cortex includes a Battery Emergency PINS function that allows entry when batteries are critically low. The Smart Battery Check function provides accurate battery level reporting and ignores false battery recovery readings. The key override cylinder provides mechanical access independent of battery state as a final fallback. - Can this lock work with our existing access cards?
The Cortex supports both iClass and Mifare card formats - covering approximately 90% of existing access control card systems used worldwide. If your site currently uses iClass or Mifare cards, those cards can be programmed into the Cortex with no effect on your existing system.
Additional Information
- Backset and Door Stile Confirmation is Critical:
The 30mm backset and narrow lock body of the 5782 are specifically engineered for aluminium framed doors. Before ordering, confirm that the door stile width, internal cavity dimensions, and any frame reinforcement can accommodate the lock body. This is a special order, non-returnable item - errors in specification cannot be corrected after ordering. - VCam Accessory:
The VCam is a small accessory fitted under the mortice faceplate that enables the Code Lockout and Latch Holdback cylinder-operated functions. It is not included in the box and must be purchased and installed separately if these functions are required. Without the VCam, the CTX5782 operates as a standard electronic lockset with key override only. - Escutcheon Depth:
At 52mm deep, the CTX5782 panels are significantly deeper than the CTX530 and CTX3772 (both 32mm). This must be accounted for during door preparation and when specifying adjacent hardware, furniture, or frame components on both sides of the door. - Capacitive Touchscreen Security:
The capacitive touch buttons have no moving parts and cannot wear to reveal a frequently entered PIN. The Cryptic Code function allows random digits to be entered before or after the real PIN without affecting authentication, preventing shoulder-surfing attacks. - Upgrade Path:
The CTX5782 can be upgraded to the DX5582 mechanical keypad system if electronic features are no longer required or if the site transitions away from electronic access control. - Australian Compliance:
The CTX5782 meets Australian Electrical Regulatory Compliance (RCM) and European Electric Compliance (CE). It is rated to Australian Lock Standard AS4145.2:1993 at Security Level SL8 and Durability Level DL8.
