McGrath A231 Slimline Digital Smart Lock – Hinged Doors
The McGrath A231 is an ultra-slim 5-in-1 digital smart lock engineered specifically for hinged (swing) aluminium and timber doors where space is limited. With an exceptionally narrow 31 mm lock body, the A231 is one of the slimmest smart locks in the McGrath range, making it ideal for narrow stile door frames.
Lock configuration and user management are handled through the McGrath Locks App using Bluetooth as standard. Access can be issued via PIN codes, RFID credentials, fingerprint recognition, Bluetooth eKeys or a mechanical key override. Optional remote access is available when paired with a compatible McGrath Locks Wi-Fi gateway.

Battery, Power & Backup Access
- Powered by 4 × AAA alkaline batteries (not included).
- Typical battery life up to 12 months (based on approximately 10 uses per day).
- Low battery alerts provided audibly at the lock and within the app.
- USB-C emergency power input allows temporary operation using a power bank.
- Mechanical key override ensures access in all power conditions.
- Terry’s Locksmiths strongly recommends the use of Duracell batteries.
Wi-Fi Remote Access (Optional)
This smart lock does not include native Wi-Fi connectivity. Remote access and management features are available only when the lock is paired with a compatible McGrath Locks gateway. When a gateway is installed, users can remotely unlock the door, issue or revoke access credentials, and view access activity through the McGrath Locks App from anywhere with an internet connection. Difficult to install
Seems ok but very difficult to install, instructions are not clear on which bolts goes where and the bottom bolt to lock the unit together with the door frame actually clashes with the lock mechanism. The lock itself if basically a generic Chinese made version that has been rebadged as McGrath. I have seen similar locks on Amazon for $100 cheaper.
