McGrath A236 Slimline Digital Smart Lock - 5-in-1 Access, 35mm Euro Mortice
The McGrath A236 is a slimline 5-in-1 digital smart lock engineered for narrow-stile aluminium doors as well as standard timber doors. With a compact 36 mm wide lock body and a supplied 35 mm backset European mortice lock (85 mm centres), the A236 suits residential, commercial and light-commercial doors where stile width is limited.
Access and user management run through the McGrath Locks App over Bluetooth as standard. The lock accepts keypad PIN, RFID credentials, fingerprint recognition, Bluetooth eKeys, and a mechanical key override. Remote unlocking and credential management can be added by pairing the lock with a compatible McGrath Locks Wi-Fi gateway.
The A236 sits in the McGrath slimline family alongside the A210 and the ultra-slim A231. Where stile width, backset or door thickness is in question, work through Measuring Your Door (Chapter 02) before ordering.
Usually same day if ordered before 11am AEST (excluding weekends and QLD public holidays).
If this model does not suit your door profile or application, we stock a curated range of slimline smart locks for narrow-stile aluminium and timber doors. Related McGrath slimline models: A210 (hinged), A210 Double-Sided (back-to-back), A231 (hinged), and A231 with Hook Bolt (sliding doors).

Wi-Fi Remote Access (Optional)
The A236 does not include native Wi-Fi. Remote access and management become available only when the lock is paired with a compatible McGrath Locks gateway. With a gateway installed, you can remotely unlock the door, issue or revoke access credentials, and view access activity through the McGrath Locks App from anywhere with an internet connection.
For a full explanation of the gateway generations and which one to choose, read G2 vs G3 vs G4 vs G5: Smart Lock Gateways Compared and work through Gateway Comparison (Chapter 08). Compatible gateways: G3 PoE / Ethernet, G4 4G SIM, and G5 dual-band Wi-Fi. If the lock drops its connection after a gateway is fitted, Why Smart Locks Drop Off Wi-Fi covers the common causes. Remote functionality requires TTLock firmware 6.5.07.220920 or later.

Frequently Asked Questions
The A236 has a slim 36 mm wide body built for narrow-stile aluminium doors, and a supplied 35 mm backset Euro mortice (85 mm centres). It suits doors 35-55 mm thick. Measure your stile width, backset and door thickness first - Measuring Your Door (Chapter 02) and Measuring Your Lock Backset walk through it.
No. Bluetooth is standard for local app control. Remote unlocking and credential management require a compatible McGrath gateway (G3, G4 or G5), and TTLock firmware 6.5.07.220920 or later. G2 vs G3 vs G4 vs G5 explains the differences.
The A236 uses the McGrath 85 Series Euro mortice. It ships with a 35 mm backset body and accepts the ML-Euro-Mortice and ML-Euro-Hook-Mortice range - 60 mm, 70 mm, and the 35 mm hook mortice are all available.
Low-battery alerts sound at the lock and appear in the app well before the batteries die. If they do go flat, use the USB-C emergency power input with a power bank, or the supplied mechanical key in the Euro mortice cylinder. Mechanical Key Override on Smart Locks covers planning for a flat-battery lockout.
On slimline mortice locks this is almost always spindle/hub position, backset, or door prep rather than a fault. Smart Lock Not Locking? 3 Common DIY Mistakes covers it. Some buyers also ask about a vibration Tamper Alert - the A236 does not support Tamper Alert; if it appears in the app it produces phantom alerts, so leave it off (how to turn it off).
Additional Information
The A236 is a McGrath-branded lock on the TTLock platform (also compatible with TTRenting and TTHotel for short-stay and hotel management). For a plain-English overview of the platform, see the TT Lock Platform Guide (Chapter 14) and Which App Platform Is Right for You.
Within the slimline family, the A236 is the 36 mm hinged-door platform. Choose the ultra-slim A231 (31 mm) for the narrowest stiles or sliding doors, the A210 for a lever-only hinged lock, or the A210 Double-Sided where back-to-back keypad access is needed.
