The McGrath A210DB is the back-to-back version of the McGrath A210 Slimline Digital Smart Lock - two full electronic lock units fitted to the same door, one on each face, sharing a single Euro mortice body. There is no passive interior side: both faces carry a keypad, a fingerprint reader and an RFID reader, so the door is controlled by credential from inside and outside alike. It is the only back-to-back member of the McGrath Locks slimline range and one of the few double-sided smart locks in Australia that fits a narrow-stile aluminium door. Each lock unit is a 43 mm wide 304 stainless steel body built for aluminium shopfront-style doors where a standard smart lock simply will not fit - check your stile width in Chapter 02 before you order. The lock is supplied with a 35 mm backset McGrath Euro 85 Series mortice on 85 mm centres, and the same body accepts every other backset in the Euro 85 mortice range (28 to 70 mm) if your door prep differs - see how to measure your backset. Five ways in are supported on both sides: fingerprint, keypad PIN, RFID card or fob, a Bluetooth eKey in the McGrath Locks App and a mechanical key override through the Euro cylinder.
Out of the box the A210DB works over Bluetooth when your phone is at the door - no internet, no hub. Add an optional McGrath G5, G4 or G3 gateway and you can unlock, issue codes and read the access log from anywhere - Chapter 14 explains what changes when a gateway is added. It suits residential entries, offices, retail and gym entries, and aluminium hinged and bifold doors where access has to be controlled from both sides. Not Suitable for External Pedestrian Gates
The A210DB is not suitable for external pedestrian gates, even though both keypad faces carry an IP65 rating. The battery module sits in a cavity morticed into the door edge between the two lock units - the same way a mortice lock body sits inside a door. On a gate that cavity is open at the top, so rain running down the stile enters the cavity and reaches the rear of the keypads, which are not water-tight. Only the external face of each keypad is IP65. McGrath Euro 85 Series mortice bodies across the full backset range shared by the A210, A210DB, A231, A236 and NX5. Every variant has a 240 mm x 22 mm faceplate and 85 mm centres; overall case widths run from 43 mm (28 mm backset) to 86.5 mm (70 mm backset). Battery, Power and Backup Access

The battery module is cut into the door edge between the two lock units - much as a mortice lock body sits within a door - and is sealed inside the door once correctly installed. This is why the A210DB is a door lock and not a gate lock (see the gate warning above).
Wi-Fi Remote Access (Optional - Gateway Required)
The A210DB has no Wi-Fi built in. Day to day it works over Bluetooth with your phone at the door. Pair it with a McGrath gateway and the lock joins your network: unlock remotely, issue or revoke codes and eKeys from anywhere, and read the access log live. Compatible McGrath gateways: the G5 (dual-band 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz Wi-Fi) for most homes and offices, the G4 (4G SIM plus 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi) where the internet is unreliable or absent, and the G3 (PoE Ethernet) for wired commercial sites. Additional Information
Measure three things before you order. Stile width (about 50 mm minimum), door thickness (38-55 mm) and backset (35 mm supplied, or swap to another Euro 85 body). Use Chapter 02 - existing hardware to identify what is on the door now and our backset guide. Two units plus a battery cavity means more door prep than a single-sided lock - when DIY is appropriate and when it isn't; Terry's advice and installation service covers the Gold Coast.
IP65 - what it covers and what it does not. The rating applies to the external face of each keypad only. The battery cavity between the units and the rear of the keypads are not water-tight, which is the whole reason this is not a gate lock. Coastal installs: read coastal Queensland is not gentle and direct sun and heat; the standards background is in Chapter 11.
Set up in the app first, then hand out codes. Add the lock in the McGrath Locks App over Bluetooth before you issue any PIN, card or fingerprint - the app is the administrator. Two TTLock habits save support calls: new permanent codes must be used once at the lock within 24 hours or they lapse (the 24-hour activation rule), and use the Erase Code carefully at a tenancy handover (what the Erase Code does). Gateway placement and Wi-Fi. Put the gateway within Bluetooth range of the door - about a room away - and on a 2.4 GHz network unless you choose the dual-band G5. Mesh routers that band-steer are the number one cause of "my lock dropped offline" - the hardware fix and where to position the gateway. One gateway can serve several TTLock locks within range, so an A210DB and an ULTRA-SECUA screen door lock can share it.

Why would I want a keypad on the inside of the door?

My timed codes stopped working at the right time. Why?

- Contact Terry's Tradies Pty Ltd and its associated websites, trading names, and subsidiaries (the place of purchase) within the applicable warranty period.
