The ASSA ABLOY SMARTair i-MAX R4N Sliding Door Escutcheon Kit (S4B42SL2V6480I-SB) is a matched SMARTair access control kit for timber sliding doors: an i-MAX R4N electronic escutcheon with an integrated MIFARE card reader and DDA lever, supplied with the Lockwood Selector 3773E self-latching sliding door mortice lock. The escutcheon runs on batteries, so the door needs no cabling.

This listing is the card-only kit on the Update-on-Card tier (ASSA ABLOY code S4CB42SL2V6480I-SB): users open the door with MIFARE cards or fobs, and a key in a Lockwood oval cylinder overrides it, with the 3773E's latch hold-back letting you turn the key one-handed. Commercial Wireless Access Control
The kit is built for commercial and institutional sliding doors - offices, healthcare and aged care, schools and apartment common areas. The escutcheon is rated to EN 1906 Grade 4 category of use and the 3773E to AS 4145.2 durability level D8. SMARTair is one of the commercial access-control brands we support.

Disability Compliance (DDA)

• Supplied with a DDA lever handle, and ASSA ABLOY states the 3773E sliding door solution complies with AS 1428.1 for accessibility (3773E brochure, page 3).
• Accessibility is still assessed on the complete doorset - handle heights, circulation space and door operating force on the sliding leaf all count.

Fire Doors

• The SMARTair i-max escutcheon is EN 1634 fire tested - a European test of the escutcheon on a test doorset.
• The 3773E brochure gives no fire rating for the sliding door lock, and we do not quote an Australian fire resistance level (FRL) for this kit.

ASSA ABLOY says the wireless escutcheons need only minor changes to an existing mechanical door preparation, and a retrofit fixing kit (3773ERFKITSS) suits doors that had the Lockwood 3573 sliding door strike (3773E brochure, pages 4 and 7).

The Lockwood oval cylinder for the key override is not included, nor are credentials, the USB encoder, the portable programmer or the TS1000 software licence. Aluminium doors need the 3773EAFKITSS fixing kit, ordered separately. The 3773E itself is not sold on its own - it comes only in these matched kits.

Available System Variants

ASSA ABLOY lists six SMARTair i-MAX R4N codes for the 3773E - card-only and keypad, on three management tiers - all black, MIFARE, DDA and key override, with 3773E timber fixing (3773E brochure, page 7). We list the two Update-on-Card kits; the Openow and Wireless Online codes are ordered in on request.

Tiers are compared on page 4 of the SMARTair Product Overview. The Wireless Online tier talks to the server through SMARTair hubs - see our guide to what a gateway does. Emergency lockdown (TS1000 Lockdown Upgrade) is a Wireless Online feature only.

SMARTair Platform

• Managed in TS1000 - ASSA ABLOY's Windows client/server software - with the browser-based Web Manager for day-to-day administration; Web Manager needs a public IP address on the server (Product Overview, page 6).
• An Update-on-Card site needs a software licence, the USB encoder for cards, the portable programmer (or PC-TO-LOCK) for the doors, and online updaters where users refresh their cards (Product Overview, page 3).
• Lost or stolen cards are cancelled automatically, and users can be given activation and expiry dates (Product Overview, page 4).
• SMARTair tiers can be combined on one site and upgraded as it grows (Product Overview, page 5); our platform chapter compares SMARTair with other ecosystems.
• Sales, warranty and technical support are handled in Australia by ASSA ABLOY.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the mortice lock included?
Yes. The kit includes the Lockwood Selector 3773E sliding door mortice with timber fixing. The oval key cylinder is not included, and the 3773E is not sold separately.

Can users open it with a phone?
Not on this listing. It is the Update-on-Card kit, which opens on cards. ASSA ABLOY makes the same kit with Openow phone keys (S4BB and S4ZB codes) - ask us to order one in.

Will the same cards open my hinged SMARTair doors?
Only if those doors read MIFARE. This kit reads MIFARE; the SMARTair i-max hinged escutcheons we list read HID iCLASS, so cards will not cross between them. The i-Reader R4N Slim for Update-on-Card and the i-gate MIFARE padlock share this kit's credential technology.

What happens if the batteries go flat?
The escutcheon warns of low battery first. If the batteries do run flat, a key in the Lockwood oval cylinder opens the door, and the latch hold-back lets you do it one-handed - see key override when the battery dies.

Can it go on a fire-rated sliding door?
Not on our advice. The escutcheon is EN 1634 fire tested, but the 3773E brochure gives no fire rating for the sliding lock. Treat the kit as for non-fire-rated doors unless the doorset manufacturer certifies it - see fire door types and certification.

• Timber or aluminium. The kit comes with timber fixing. Aluminium doors need the 3773EAFKITSS fixing kit, and doors that had a Lockwood 3573 sliding strike can use the 3773ERFKITSS retrofit kit (brochure, page 7).
• Credentials. Plan on MIFARE cards or fobs encoded for your site with the USB encoder. If the building already runs iCLASS SMARTair doors, those cards will not open this kit.

• Coastal sites. The 3773E is rated to corrosion level C6 (168 hours), but batteries and electronics still suffer in salt air - see electronic locks in coastal conditions.
