Borg BL5401 DDA MG Pro ECP Mechanical Digital Lock – DDA Compliant Lever – Marine Grade Pro – Easicode Pro – Black
The Borg BL5401 DDA MG Pro ECP is a medium to heavy duty fully mechanical digital lock combining Marine Grade Pro construction, Easicode Pro on-door code change, and a DDA compliant AS1428.1-2009 flat bar lever. The flat bar lever requires less grip force than a round bar lever, making it the correct specification for disability access doors, accessible toilet facilities, and BCA-compliant applications in commercial, strata, and institutional buildings.
316 stainless steel internal components with MG Pro 2 black marine external coating deliver 1,000 hours of continuous salt spray resistance, making it equally suited to coastal and marine environments. Fire rated to AS 1905.1-2005 (up to 4 hours depending on doorset). Fully mechanical – no batteries, no wiring. Door thickness 35mm to 80mm.
Usually same day if ordered before 11am AEST (excluding weekends and Qld public holidays)
Successfully tested up to 4 hours (depending on doorset) on fire door assemblies in accordance with AS 1905.1-2005 Fire Resistant Doorsets.
The BL5401 uses a flat bar lever compliant with BCA AS1428.1-2009 (Design for Access and Mobility). The lever requires minimal grip force and is designed for users with limited hand strength or dexterity. Suitable for disability access doors, accessible toilet facilities, and any BCA-compliant application requiring AS1428.1 locking hardware. Lever compliance relates to the handle design only and does not imply full building access compliance for the installation.
316 stainless steel internal components with MG Pro 2 black marine external grade coating. Tested to 1,000 continuous hours of salt spray. Suitable for coastal, beachside, and marine environments.
Borg warrants corrosion resistance for 12 months from date of sale under specified conditions.
The PIN code can be changed while the lock is installed using the included code change key. Insert the key over the Φ button, rotate 90° clockwise, hold, press C to clear, enter the new code digits, confirm, then release. No lock removal required. A code change deactivation plug is included.
After entering the correct code and rotating the lever, press F to engage free passage mode. The lever becomes free-turning without requiring the code on each use. To exit: rotate the lever and press C until an audible click is heard. Deactivatable with the included plug.
Entirely mechanical. No power source, no wiring, and no battery maintenance at any point.
For maximum heavy duty: consider the Lockwood DX, Borg 7701, or Carbine CDL7000 Series.
Accepts one active PIN code at a time.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the DDA lever and what makes it different from a standard lever?
The BL5401 uses a flat bar lever compliant with BCA AS1428.1-2009 (Design for Access and Mobility). This lever requires significantly less grip force and torque than a round bar lever, making it suitable for users with limited hand strength or dexterity. It is the correct lever type for disability access doors, accessible toilet facilities, and any application where BCA accessibility compliance is required for the locking hardware. Lever compliance relates to the handle design only and does not imply full building access compliance for the installation.
How do I change the PIN code on the ECP model?
With the door open, enter the current code. Insert the code change key over the Φ button, rotate it 90° clockwise, then press and hold fully. Press C to clear, enter the new code digits, press all digits again to confirm, then release and remove the key. Press C or rotate the lever to finalise. Test at least 5 times before closing the door. The code is non-sequential — if set to 1234, entering 4321 or any order will open the lock.
How does the free passage function work?
Enter the correct code, rotate the lever, then press F while the lever is still rotating. The lever becomes free-turning. To exit free passage: rotate the lever and press C until an audible click is heard. The free passage function can be permanently deactivated by inserting the supplied plug behind the F button slot on the back of the keypad before installation.
Can I reverse the handing on site?
Yes. All BL5401 units are factory set for right-hand doors. To change: remove the rubber grommet at the base of the keypad handle, use the included hex wrench to remove the grub screw, rotate the handle 180° and refit. Repeat for the inside handle. Handing is determined from the outside of the door: right hand = hinges on the right; left hand = hinges on the left, regardless of swing direction.
Is the BL5401 compatible with third-party lock cases?
Yes. The BL5401 uses an 8mm square drive spindle which is compatible with most leading brands of tubular latch and mortice lock case. Always confirm spindle compatibility with the lock case manufacturer before specifying in a multi-brand installation.
Additional Information
Monthly: apply a light spray of silicon-based lubricant (GT85 or equivalent) to the keypad and lever surfaces; wipe off excess. Do not use oil-based lubricants. Annually: remove the lock and spray internally through the button holes; test all buttons and lever operation. Refer to the Borg Servicing Guide PDF for full instructions.
When specifying for fire door use, confirm all other hardware in the assembly is fire-rated and compatible with the doorset certification. The 4-hour rating is the maximum and depends on the doorset tested – confirm with the doorset manufacturer.
The DDA flat bar lever on this lock meets the design requirements of AS1428.1-2009 for locking hardware in accessible environments. Full building compliance requires confirmation with a building certifier or access consultant, as it encompasses door weight, clearances, hardware positioning height, and other factors beyond the lock itself.
All Borg locks are warranted against mechanical defects in materials and workmanship under normal use and service for a minimum of 12 months from date of sale. The warranty does not cover damage arising from misuse, vandalism, or improper installation. The lock must not be dismantled — doing so will invalidate the warranty.
