Borg BL2202SC Mechanical Digital Lock – Knob Keypad – 28mm Mortice Latch – Holdback – Satin Chrome
The Borg BL2202SC is a fully mechanical digital lock designed specifically for narrow stile doors. Unlike the standard BL2000 series which uses a 60mm backset tubular latch, the BL2202SC uses a 28mm backset mortice latch with a compact 96×26mm faceplate — making it the correct choice for aluminium-framed doors, narrow stile timber doors, and any application where the standard 60mm backset would be too deep for the door stile.
Satin chrome finish, inside paddle handle with holdback, and the traditional Borg tumbler code system (lock removal required to change code). Over 8,000 combinations. Single-sided — the inside handle is always free for immediate egress. Suits doors from 35mm to 54mm thick. No batteries.
Usually same day if ordered before 11am AEST (excluding weekends and Qld public holidays)
The BL2202SC uses a 28mm backset mortice latch with a 96×26mm faceplate. This compact latch body is specifically designed for aluminium-framed doors, narrow stile timber doors, and any door where the stile is too narrow for a standard 60mm backset latch to be morticed. If your door stile is wide enough to accept a standard 60mm latch, consider the BL2200SC or BL2501SSECP instead.
The inside paddle handle is always free to operate. No code is required to open the door from inside.
After entering the code and operating the knob, the holdback can be engaged to keep the latch retracted — allowing free passage without code entry. The holdback device can be permanently removed from the lock if not required.
This model uses a tumbler-based code system. To change the PIN, the lock must be removed from the door. Remove the 4 red screws, carefully lift the cover plate (springs attached), hold the C tumbler depressed, then use the supplied tweezers to reposition the red (coded) and blue (uncoded) tumblers. Over 8,000 combinations; code length adjustable 3–7 digits. For on-door code change, see the BL2201SCECP.
Entirely mechanical. No power source, no wiring, and no battery maintenance at any point.
For heavy duty: consider the Borg BL7701, Lockwood DX, or Carbine CDL7000.
Accepts one active PIN code at a time.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why does this lock use a 28mm latch instead of the standard 60mm?
Many aluminium-framed doors and narrow stile timber doors do not have a wide enough stile to mortice a standard 60mm backset latch. The BL2202SC's 28mm mortice latch has a compact 96×26mm faceplate specifically designed to fit into these narrow profiles. If your door stile is wide enough to accept a 60mm latch, the BL2200SC (tumbler, holdback, 60mm) or BL2501SSECP (ECP, satin stainless, 60mm) may be more appropriate.
Is this compatible with electric strikes?
Yes. The 28mm mortice latch format is compatible with electric strikes, making the BL2202SC suitable for access control integrations where the electric strike releases the latch on command from an access control panel. Confirm electric strike compatibility with your access control supplier before specifying.
How do I change the PIN code?
The lock must be removed from the door. Remove the 4 red screws, carefully lift the cover plate (springs are attached), hold the C tumbler depressed at all times, then use the supplied tweezers to reposition the red (coded) and blue (uncoded) tumblers. All square cut-outs must face outward; coloured marks must face upward. Test before reinstalling. Codes are non-sequential — buttons can be pressed in any order. Spare tumblers adjust code length from 3 to 7 digits. For on-door code change, see the BL2201SCECP.
How do I use the holdback function?
Enter the correct code and operate the knob to retract the latch, then engage the holdback to keep the latch retracted. To release: operate the inside paddle. If holdback is not required, the holdback device can be permanently removed from the inside paddle handle before installation.
What is the difference between BL2202SC and BL2002SC?
Both use the 28mm backset mortice latch for narrow stile doors. The BL2202SC has a holdback facility on the inside paddle; the BL2002SC does not have holdback. Choose BL2202SC where holdback is needed; choose BL2002SC where a simpler non-holdback paddle is preferred.
Additional Information
The tumbler code can be set on the bench before installation. Set and verify the code before mounting. This avoids removing a fitted lock for the first code change.
Measure the stile width of your door before ordering. The 28mm backset latch requires a faceplate pocket of 96mm height × 26mm width to be morticed into the door edge. Confirm the stile is wide enough to accommodate this faceplate before purchasing. If the stile is wider than 40mm, a standard 60mm backset latch is likely suitable and may provide a more secure bolt engagement.
All Borg locks are warranted against mechanical defects in materials and workmanship under normal use and service for a minimum of 12 months from date of sale. The warranty does not cover damage arising from misuse, vandalism, or improper installation. The lock must not be dismantled — doing so will invalidate the warranty.
