BLMORTSPDL is the 80mm spindle for a Borg 2000 or 5000 series mechanical digital keypad fitted to a Lockwood mortice lock with an adaptor kit, such as BL3582KIT on the 2000 series or BL50013572K on the 5000 series. It is a single replacement spindle for doors up to 50mm thick, and part of our BDS range.

The adaptor kits convert an existing Lockwood 3572 or 3582 mortice lock to keypad entry, so a sound lock can stay in the door; we explain why that retrofit route makes sense. For a door thicker than 50mm, the extended BLMORTSPDL120 is the 120mm version and suits doors up to 90mm.

The keypads on these conversions are Borg keypad-only units, such as BL2000KSCNEW for the 2000 series or BL5000KSC / BL5000KSS for the 5000 series. If the overlay sticker from a 2000 series key override plate kit is worn, BL2000KORSTICKER replaces it.

Which Borg adaptor kits does this spindle suit?
The Borg 2000 and 5000 series mortice lock adaptor kits, which convert a Lockwood 3572 or 3582 mortice lock, for example BL3582KIT on the 2000 series and BL50013572K on the 5000 series. The kit table lists all eight with the lock each one converts. Our 2000 series kits also suit Borg 4000 series keypads, but this spindle is sold for the 2000 and 5000 series, so ask us before ordering it for a 4000 series set-up.

Is this the spindle for a Lockwood 002 conversion?
No. A Borg 2000 series keypad fitted to a Lockwood 002 deadlatch with the BL002KIT adaptor kit uses BL2000002SPDL. This spindle is for the 3572 and 3582 mortice lock conversions, and the Borg spindle range table shows what each spindle suits.

What happens if the spindle is the wrong length?
Too short, and it may not fully engage the mortice lock hub, which can cause poor operation or premature wear. Too long, and it can bind against the furniture or adaptor plates. If your door is thicker than this spindle suits, the extended BLMORTSPDL120 is the longer option.
