Carbine CEL-RFID-FOB MIFARE Key Fob – Blue
The Carbine CEL-RFID-FOB is a MIFARE 13.56MHz RFID key fob designed as an additional or replacement credential for Carbine CEL-3IN1 and CEL2 series digital locks. Sold individually, it is compatible with any CEL lock that reads MIFARE (ISO14443 Type A) credentials. See: Buyers Guide Ch03: RFID access methods.
The fob format is a practical alternative to the credit card format CEL-RFID for users who prefer to carry their access credential on a keyring. It is presented to the lock’s RFID reader zone in the same way as a card — no contact required, no PIN entry needed. Each fob is enrolled directly through the lock’s programming mode; no separate programmer, software, or app is required.
Like all CEL RFID credentials, the fob operates at 13.56MHz using the MIFARE chip standard (ISO14443 Type A). It is not compatible with EMV chips used in bank cards (Visa PayWave, Mastercard PayPass), which use ISO14443 Type B.
Usually same day if ordered before 11am AEST (excluding weekends and Qld public holidays)
All five credential types are compatible with Carbine CEL-3IN1 and CEL2 RFID-capable locks. Choose the format that best suits your users:
- CEL-RFID — MIFARE Card (Blue/White) — credit card format; wallet/card-holder carry
- CEL-RFID-ST-C — MIFARE Sticker (White) — adheres to phone back, existing card, or any flat surface
- CEL-RFID-FOB — MIFARE Key FOB (Blue) — keyring attachment; suitable for high-frequency users — This Product
- CEL-RFID-WB — MIFARE Silicone Wristband (Blue) — hands-free access; suitable for gyms and wellness facilities
- CEL-RFID-UFOB — MIFARE Ultra FOB — compact premium keyfob; thinner profile than standard FOB
Key Features

- Lost fob can be deleted from the lock individually — no rekeying required.
- Sold individually — order the quantity needed per user.

- Issuing access to contractors, cleaners, or tradies without sharing a PIN code.

Frequently Asked Questions
The fob is the practical choice for users who carry their keys rather than a wallet. Attaching the fob to a keyring means the same key set used for other locks on the property also carries the RFID credential for the CEL lock. A card suits wallet-carry users; a sticker suits those who want a credential permanently on their phone; a fob suits keyring-carry users. For a slimmer keyring format, also consider the CEL-RFID-UFOB.
On the CEL2 series, PIN codes and RFID credentials share a combined pool of 100 credentials. On the CEL2-BT leverset series, the pool is 200 combined credentials (PIN codes + RFID + 10 separate Bluetooth users). Fobs, cards, and stickers all draw from the same RFID credential pool. Check the user guide for your specific model to confirm the limits. See: Buyers Guide Ch03: RFID access
Any fob using a MIFARE chip (ISO14443 Type A, 13.56MHz) is compatible with the CEL lock. This Carbine-supplied fob is confirmed compatible. Generic MIFARE fobs from third-party suppliers should also work, but are not Carbine-confirmed — verify the chip specification is MIFARE / ISO14443 Type A before purchasing alternatives. See: Carbine CEL RFID Application List (PDF)
Fobs are enrolled directly through the lock’s programming mode — the same process used for RFID cards. No separate programmer, software, or app is required. Enter programming mode using the master code, select the Add Credential function, then present the fob to the RFID reader zone on the lock body. Full instructions are in the CEL-3IN1 User Guide PDF linked below.
RFID credential access is available on all CEL2-BT leverset models. It is not available on the CEL2-BT deadbolt variants (CEL2-BT-DBSNKIT / CEL2-BT-DBMBKIT), which support PIN and Bluetooth only. Confirm your lock model before ordering.
Additional Information
The CEL lock reads MIFARE credentials only (ISO14443 Type A, 13.56MHz). Credit cards including Visa PayWave and Mastercard PayPass use EMV chips (ISO14443 Type B) and will not register on the lock. MIFARE credentials include Opal cards, Myki cards, Go cards, generic building access cards, and this CEL-RFID-FOB. When sourcing third-party fobs, confirm the chip type is MIFARE / ISO14443 Type A before purchasing. See: Carbine CEL RFID Application List (PDF)
On CEL locks, PIN codes and RFID credentials — including fobs, cards, and stickers — all draw from the same shared pool. Adding more RFID credentials reduces the number of available PIN code slots, and vice versa. Plan your credential allocation before issuing fobs across multiple users. Where a mix of credential types is required, assign fobs to keyring-carry users and PIN codes to users who prefer not to carry a physical credential.
If a fob is lost or stolen, it can be deleted from the lock individually through programming mode without affecting other enrolled credentials. This is a key advantage of RFID credentials over physical keys — a lost fob can be decommissioned immediately without rekeying the lock. Refer to the CEL-3IN1 User Guide for the credential deletion procedure.
