Carbine CEL-RFID-ST-C MIFARE Sticker - White
The Carbine CEL-RFID-ST-C is a MIFARE 13.56MHz RFID sticker designed as an additional or replacement credential for Carbine CEL-3IN1 and CEL2 series digital locks. It is sold individually and is compatible with any CEL lock that reads MIFARE (ISO14443 Type A) credentials.
Unlike the credit card format CEL-RFID, this sticker is a 25mm circular disc with a metal-backed construction. Its primary use case is adhering to the back of a smartphone, allowing the phone to be presented to the lock as an RFID credential. It can also be adhered to any flat surface - a bag, lanyard holder, helmet, or similar - where a card format is impractical to carry.
The sticker operates at 13.56MHz using the MIFARE S50 chip standard (ISO14443 Type A). It is not compatible with EMV chips used in credit cards (VISA PayWave, Mastercard PayPass). Each sticker is programmed directly through the lock's programming mode - no separate programmer or software is required.

Frequently Asked Questions
When would I use a sticker instead of a card?
The sticker is the better choice when a user doesn't want to carry a separate card - particularly when attaching a credential directly to a smartphone that is not MIFARE-compatible via its built-in NFC. It is also useful in industrial or trade settings where a wallet card is impractical - for example, adhered inside a helmet, to a tool bag, or into a wrist-worn holder.
Does the metal backing cause problems with smartphone NFC or wireless charging?
The metal-backed construction can interfere with both the phone's built-in NFC antenna and wireless (Qi) charging pads. Carbine recommends positioning the sticker toward the top of the phone, away from the main NFC antenna, to minimise interference with NFC-based phone functions. Avoid placing the sticker directly over a wireless charging coil, as charging performance may be reduced or the sticker itself may be damaged over time with sustained heat exposure.
Will any RFID sticker work, or does it need to be this specific product?
Any sticker using a MIFARE chip (ISO14443 Type A, 13.56MHz) will be compatible with the CEL lock. This Carbine-supplied sticker uses the MIFARE S50 chip and is confirmed compatible. Third-party MIFARE stickers should work but are not Carbine-confirmed - verify the chip specification before purchasing generic alternatives.
How many RFID credentials can the CEL lock store?
On the CEL-3IN1, the lock supports 1 programming code, 25 user PIN codes, and 25 RFID credentials. On the CEL2 series, PIN codes and RFID credentials share a combined pool of 100 credentials total. Check the user guide for your specific model to confirm the limits applicable to your installation.
Can I remove and reuse the sticker if I change phones?
RFID stickers use a pressure-sensitive adhesive and are generally not designed for repeated removal and reapplication. Once adhered, attempting to remove the sticker risks damage to the chip antenna embedded in the disc. If a user changes phones, it is safer to delete the existing sticker credential from the lock and enrol a new sticker rather than attempting to transfer it.
Additional Information
For best read performance, Carbine recommends positioning the sticker toward the top of the phone. Most smartphone NFC antennas are located in the upper-rear area of the handset - placing the sticker in this zone gives the most consistent presentation to the lock's RFID reader. Avoid placing the sticker over the phone's camera cluster or wireless charging area. Where possible, test the placement before finalising adhesion by holding the sticker (without peeling the backing) against the phone and presenting it to the lock.
The CEL lock reads MIFARE credentials only (ISO14443 Type A). Credit cards including VISA PayWave and Mastercard PayPass use EMV chips (ISO14443 Type B) and will not register. MIFARE credentials include Opal cards, Myki cards, generic building access cards, and this CEL-RFID-ST-C sticker. When sourcing third-party stickers, confirm the chip type is MIFARE / ISO14443 Type A before purchasing.
On CEL locks, PIN codes and RFID credentials (cards, stickers, fobs) draw from a shared pool. Adding more RFID credentials reduces the number of available PIN code slots, and vice versa. Plan credential allocation before issuing stickers across multiple users. Where a mix of PIN and RFID access is required, assign RFID credentials to users who benefit from hands-free or card-free presentation and reserve PIN codes for resident users.
If a sticker is lost or a user's phone is stolen, the credential can be deleted from the lock individually through programming mode without affecting other enrolled credentials. Refer to the CEL-3IN1 User Guide for the credential deletion procedure. Deleting an individual credential does not require a factory reset of the lock.
