Neptune Silicone RFID Wristband - MIFARE Classic 1K S50 - Waterproof - Medium, Large and Extra Large

The Neptune Silicone Wristband MIFARE Classic 1K S50 (NEWBMF series) is a waterproof silicone RFID wristband from Neptune with a 13.56 MHz MIFARE Classic 1K S50 chip moulded inside the band. It is made for the places where a card or key fob is a nuisance - gyms, swimming pools, aquatic centres and surf clubs - because it stays on the wrist, has no battery and keeps working wet.

It is read by the Neptune NEKPWST2W and NEKPWST2S touch keypads and by other readers and smart locks that take MIFARE Classic 1K credentials - see Works With. It is sold one wristband at a time, in black or dark blue and in medium, large and extra large sizes (63, 74 and 85 mm across). The two 125 kHz Neptune keypads on this site, the ACKPWB6K and the ACKPW1C, do not read it - they take the EM and HID wristbands instead.

Works With

A MIFARE Classic 1K wristband is read by readers and locks that read MIFARE Classic at 13.56 MHz. It is not read by 125 kHz proximity readers (EM or HID Prox) or by HID iCLASS readers - Neptune makes a separate wristband for each of those. From the Neptune keypads we sell:

Beyond Neptune, the wristband can be enrolled on any reader or smart lock whose credential list includes MIFARE Classic 1K cards and fobs - many of the locks in our Fob, Card and RFID smart locks range do. The lock's own listing is the authority: if it names MIFARE Classic (or MIFARE S50 / 13.56 MHz MIFARE cards), the wristband will enrol; if it names only MIFARE DESFire, 125 kHz or iCLASS, it will not. For a lock that has its own wristband, use that one - the McGrath RFID wristband for McGrath smart locks, the Carbine CEL wristband for Carbine CEL locks and the SALTO silicone bracelet for SALTO systems. Not Suitable For
125 kHz proximity systems - including the Neptune ACKPWB6K and ACKPW1C keypads - which need the EM or HID 125 kHz wristband. HID iCLASS readers, which need the iCLASS wristband. Locks and readers that accept only MIFARE DESFire credentials. Children's wrists - the three sizes are adult sizes.

Item Codes by Size and Colour

Six item codes sit on this listing - three sizes in each colour. The size figure is the band's width across the inside when it is laid flat, as LSC quotes it; all three are adult sizes.

To pick a size, lay an existing silicone band flat and measure across the inside, or compare the wearer's wrist against a band they already find comfortable. Neptune does not quote a wrist circumference for each size.

Neptune makes the same silicone band with four different chips. The bands look alike - the chip decides which readers can use them, so match the wristband to the reader technology on your doors.

The 125 kHz keypad descriptions in the Read By column come from each keypad's own listing - the ACKPWB6K reads EM and HID, the ACKPW1C reads EM only.

Which Neptune keypads read this wristband?
The two capacitive touch keypads - the full-size NEKPWST2W and the mullion NEKPWST2S - which read HID, EM and MIFARE. The push-button ACKPWB6K and ACKPW1C are 125 kHz readers and do not read MIFARE at all - they take the EM or HID wristband. The Works With table lists all four.

Will it work on my smart lock or another brand's reader?
It will if the lock or reader accepts MIFARE Classic 1K cards and fobs - the wristband is the same credential in a different shape. Check the credential line on the lock's listing: MIFARE Classic, MIFARE S50 or 13.56 MHz MIFARE cards means yes; DESFire only, 125 kHz or iCLASS means no. Many locks in our Fob, Card and RFID range list MIFARE Classic, and the Buyer's Guide explains how RFID credentials work. Where a lock brand sells its own wristband - McGrath, Carbine CEL or SALTO - that is the safer choice for that lock.

Which size should I order?
Medium is 63 mm across the band, large 74 mm and extra large 85 mm - all adult sizes. A silicone band stretches over the hand and then sits snug, so measure an existing band across its inside, or compare against one the wearer already finds comfortable. For a club or gym ordering for many members, a mix weighted towards large with some medium and extra large covers most adults; the item code table has each size's code.

Can it be worn swimming and in the shower?
Yes. The chip is sealed inside a solid silicone band with no openings, and LSC lists the wristband for gyms, swimming pools and surf clubs - anywhere water and moisture would be a problem for a card. Neptune does not quote an IP figure for it, so we do not either.

Does it need a battery, or programming before it arrives?
Neither. The chip is passive - the reader powers it for the moment it is held up - so there is nothing to charge. And unlike the Neptune EM, HID and iCLASS wristbands, which LSC pre-codes to your site from an order form, the MIFARE Classic wristband arrives ready to enrol: present it to the keypad or reader in its add-user mode, the same as a MIFARE card or fob, and it is on the system. Delete it the same way if it is lost.

Additional Information

• 13.56 MHz and 125 kHz are not interchangeable. The four Neptune wristbands look identical on the wrist; only the chip differs. If your readers are EM or HID Prox at 125 kHz, order the EM or HID version - this one will simply not be seen by them.
• Use the two colours to tell groups apart. Black for members and dark blue for staff, or one colour per membership tier, lets a desk or a pool attendant see at a glance who should be where - the reader does not care which colour it reads.
• Mix formats on one reader. Because it shares its chip with Neptune's ISO cards, Aqua keyfobs and adhesive dots, a site can give swimmers a wristband and office staff a card without running two reader technologies.
• Delete lost wristbands promptly. A wristband is only as secure as your user list. When one is lost or a member leaves, remove that credential from the keypad or controller straight away - the band itself cannot be disabled remotely.
