Yale Unity Slim Smart Lock with Multipoint Locking System
The Yale Unity Slim Smart Lock is a keyless multipoint locking system designed for aluminium and timber-framed hinged doors. This smart lock combines secure keypad entry, Yale Home App control, and the mechanical reliability of the Induro® lift-to-lock mechanism to deliver comprehensive access control for residential and light commercial applications.
The slim escutcheon design is specifically engineered for doors with narrow stiles or limited mounting space, making it suitable for modern aluminium-framed doors where traditional smart locks cannot be fitted. The lock integrates a 6-digit keypad, door position sensor, and built-in Yale Home connectivity module without requiring a separate hub for basic functionality.
The Induro® multipoint locking system activates when the handle is lifted, engaging multiple lock points simultaneously to create a weather-resistant seal and enhanced security barrier. This mechanical lift-to-lock operation works independently of the electronic components, ensuring the door can be secured even during power loss or battery depletion.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Does the Yale Unity Slim require a separate hub for basic functionality?
No. The Unity Slim includes a built-in Yale Home connectivity module that allows direct smartphone control without purchasing a separate hub. However, the Yale Connect Plus Hub 2 (sold separately) is required for remote access when away from home and for voice assistant integration with Alexa or Google Assistant. - What is the difference between 2-Point and 4-Point locking configurations?
The 2-Point configuration engages two lock points when the handle is lifted, while the 4-Point configuration engages four lock points for enhanced security and weather sealing. The 4-Point system provides superior resistance to forced entry and better seals against weather penetration, making it the preferred choice for exposed external doors. - Can I install this lock on an existing door without professional help?
Installation requires accurate routing of the door and frame to accommodate the multipoint locking mechanism. While the product includes a routing template and installation instructions, professional installation by a locksmith or experienced door fitter is strongly recommended to ensure correct alignment, proper operation, and warranty compliance. - Is the Yale Unity Slim compatible with my existing Yale smart locks or security system?
The Unity Slim is compatible with other Yale smart locks through the Yale Home App ecosystem. DualDoor™ Technology allows coordination with the Yale Unity Screen Door Lock for simultaneous locking of both screen and main door. Integration with third-party security systems depends on the specific system and may require the Yale Connect Plus Hub 2.
Additional Information
- Slim Escutcheon Design:
The Unity Slim features a reduced-depth external escutcheon specifically engineered for aluminium doors with narrow stiles (typically 45-55mm wide). This slim profile allows installation where standard smart locks cannot fit, making it the preferred choice for modern aluminium-framed doors commonly found in Australian homes. - Induro® Multipoint Locking System:
The Induro® mechanism is a lift-to-lock system where lifting the handle simultaneously engages multiple lock points along the door edge. This creates both a security barrier and weather seal. The mechanism operates mechanically and independently of the electronic components, ensuring the door can be secured during power or battery loss. - Backset Selection:
The backset is the critical measurement from the door edge to the centre of the spindle hole. Incorrect backset selection will result in misalignment of the lock mechanism with the door frame strike points. Measure your existing lock or door preparation accurately before ordering. If replacing an existing multipoint lock, the backset must match exactly. - Long Throw vs Short Throw:
The bolt throw distance determines how far the lock bolts extend into the door frame. Long throw bolts (typically 25mm) provide enhanced security and are required for certain door frame configurations. Short throw bolts (typically 16mm) are suitable for standard residential applications. Frame strike plate preparation must match the selected throw distance. - Built-in Connectivity Module:
Unlike earlier Yale smart locks that required a separate network module, the Unity Slim includes built-in Wi-Fi connectivity for direct connection to the Yale Home App. This reduces installation complexity and ongoing costs. However, remote access when away from home still requires the Yale Connect Plus Hub 2 (sold separately). - DoorSense™ Technology:
The door position sensor monitors whether the door is open, closed, locked, or unlocked. This information is displayed in the Yale Home App and enables auto-lock functionality (the lock will not engage if the door is not properly closed). DoorSense™ also prevents accidental lockouts by alerting users if the door is not fully closed before leaving. - Code Management:
The lock supports up to 100 individual user codes, including permanent codes, scheduled codes (active only during specific times or dates), and one-time codes for temporary access. Code management is performed via the Yale Home App. Fake PIN protection allows users to enter random digits before or after their actual code to prevent shoulder surfing. - Installation Considerations:
The multipoint locking mechanism requires precise door and frame preparation. Door edges must be routed to accommodate the lock points, and the frame must have corresponding strike plates accurately positioned. Door alignment and fit are critical – the door must close flush against the frame for the multipoint system to engage correctly. Warped or poorly fitting doors will cause operational issues. - Weather Resistance:
The IP55 rating indicates protection against dust ingress and low-pressure water jets from any direction. This makes the lock suitable for exposed external doors subject to rain and weather. The UV-tested screen and powdercoat finish provide additional protection against Australian sun exposure. Regular cleaning and maintenance will preserve appearance and function. - Apple HomeKit Integration:
The Unity Slim is natively compatible with Apple HomeKit, allowing control via Siri voice commands and the Apple Home app. HomeKit setup requires scanning the setup code provided with the lock. HomeKit integration provides secure end-to-end encryption and allows the lock to participate in HomeKit scenes and automations.
