The ADI ADICTXSPSSS is a matched pair of stainless steel scar plates sized for the Lockwood Cortex 530 digital lockset. One plate fits each face of the door behind the escutcheon, covering the lock preparation and any marking left by hardware that came off before it.
Scar plates do two jobs. On a retrofit they hide the holes and wear left by the previous lock, which is almost never in the same place as the new one. On a new install they give a clean, deliberate finish where the door preparation runs slightly wider than the escutcheon body. Either way the plate is a finishing part, not a security part.
These are made by ADI Security Products, an Australian manufacturer established in Gerringong, New South Wales in 1975 by locksmith brothers Brian and Peter Preddey, and owned by LSC since 2015. They are an aftermarket part, not a Lockwood-branded accessory, and they carry the practical advantage of being in stock rather than on order. No. The ADICTXSPSSS is made by ADI Security Products and is an aftermarket part. The Lockwood CTX-SSPLT-530 is the Lockwood-branded equivalent and there is currently no listing for it on this store. Both are sized for the Cortex 530 and do the same job. Order the Lockwood-branded part through us if your specification requires Lockwood-branded accessories throughout; otherwise these are the quicker option.
Fixings are not listed as supplied with these plates, and ADI does not publish a contents list for them. In practice most installers fix through using the screws supplied with the lockset. Check what came with your Cortex 530 against the plate and the door thickness before you start, and if you are unsure, our advice and installation team can tell you what a given door will need.
They are confirmed for the Cortex 530 only. The other locks in the Cortex range - the CTX3772 and the narrow-stile CTX5782 - use different escutcheon profiles, and fit has not been confirmed on either. Do not assume a fit from a photograph; measure the escutcheon and the prep you need to cover first.
Not on the strength of anything ADI publishes. These plates carry no fire rating and no fire test evidence, and adding an unassessed plate to a fire door can put the doorset outside its assessment. No. You need one when the new lock's escutcheon does not fully cover the old preparation, when the previous hardware has left visible marking, or when a commercial specification calls for plates as standard. ADI Security Products started in Gerringong on the New South Wales south coast in 1975, founded by Brian and Peter Preddey, both locksmiths. The company's original product was the Preddey Bolt, still sold as the ADI Bolt. LSC bought the business in 2015 and manufacture continues in Australia, with assembly in Brooklyn, Victoria. It is worth knowing because ADI is a name shared with an unrelated overseas electronics distributor - the plates on this page are the Australian manufacturer's.
A thin plate telegraphs every ridge and fixing head underneath it and can look worse than the damage it was meant to hide. At 1.6mm this one is stiff enough to bridge an uneven door face and stay flat under the escutcheon. It is also thick enough to notice when you tighten down - check your fixings reach through the plate, the door and into the lock body before you commit.
The commonest ordering mistake is sizing the plate to the new escutcheon instead of to the area that needs covering. Mark the outline of everything you want hidden - old holes, wear rings, paint shadow - then check the 230 x 75mm plate clears all of it with room to fix through. If it does not, a larger plate from another brand may suit better; the brand guide lists every size we carry.
The plate sits between the door face and the escutcheon, so it has to go on before the lock body is drawn up. Dry-fit both sides, check the spindle and cable pass cleanly through the plate cut-out, then tighten. Trying to add a plate to a lock already fitted means taking the whole thing off again. ADI Cortex 530 Scar Plates - FAQ and Fitting Guide

Fit and Sizing
Take the door furniture off, or look at the old one still fitted, and mark the full extent of what you want covered - every hole, every wear mark, any paint shadow where a longplate used to sit. Then measure that rectangle. The plate has to clear it on all four sides with enough margin left to fix through. If your marked area is longer than about 215mm or wider than about 65mm, this plate will be tight and you should look at a larger one. Why size matters works through the measurement properly.
Often not. A mortice longplate can run 300mm or more and leaves a much taller footprint than a 230mm plate will hide. Identify what was there first - Buyer's Guide Chapter 02 has a section on mortice longplates - and if the old plate was longer than this one, choose a larger plate rather than accepting partial coverage. The 900 x 75mm Grange plate is the longest we stock.
You can, and plenty of jobs do - if only one face of the door is marked, only that face needs covering. The pair is supplied because a door usually reads better with matching plates both sides, and because retrofits tend to have damage on both faces. There is no functional reason both must be used.
Installation
Plate first, then lock. The plate is sandwiched between the door face and the escutcheon, so the lock body has to come off, or not yet be fitted, for the plate to go on. Dry-fit both plates, pass the spindle and any cable through, check nothing fouls the cut-out, then draw the escutcheons up. Fitting the lock first and then discovering you need a plate means a full strip-down.
Yes, and it is worth checking before the door is apart. Two plates add 3.2mm to the effective door thickness at the escutcheon. On most doors the standard Cortex fixings still reach comfortably, but on a thick door already near the top of the lock's range it can be marginal. Measure the door, add the plate thickness, and check against the lockset's stated door-thickness range. If it is close, ask us before you order.
We would not recommend it. Cutting stainless leaves a raw edge that will not match the factory finish and is difficult to dress neatly on a visible door face, and drilling new holes in the wrong place is hard to undo. If the plate does not suit as supplied, a different size is a better answer than modifying this one.
Suitability and Limitations
No. A scar plate is cosmetic and protective, not structural. It will stop further wear on the door face and hide what is already there, but it adds nothing to the lock's resistance and does not reinforce the door. If the concern is forced entry, the answer is the lock, the strike and the frame, not the plate.
ADI publishes no corrosion testing for these plates, so we will not put a figure on it. Stainless generally handles exterior use better than plated steel, but grade matters and no grade is stated for this part. On an exposed coastal door treat the plate the same way you would treat any stainless furniture there - expect to clean it, and expect tea staining if it is never washed down. In practice the two read closely enough that most people never notice, and matching the plate to the furniture is the usual approach. If you want an exact match, hold the plate against the escutcheon in the light the door actually sits in before fitting - artificial light flatters both finishes and daylight does not.

How to Make a Claim
- Contact Terry's Tradies Pty Ltd and its associated websites, trading names, and subsidiaries first. All warranty claims must be initiated through us - contact Gold Coast Smart Locks via our Returns & Warranty page with your order details and a description of the fault.
- Retain proof of purchase. Your invoice or receipt showing the purchase date is required to establish the warranty period.
- Notify within 30 days of discovering the fault. The Snap One warranty requires notice of any non-conformity within 30 days of discovery and within the applicable warranty period.
- Return Merchandise Authorisation (RMA). If a return is required, a RMA number will be issued. Products must be securely packed and returned within 30 days of the RMA being issued, with the RMA number clearly marked on the outside of the packaging. Return freight costs are the customer's responsibility.
- Assessment and outcome. Once a valid claim is received, Snap One will - at their discretion - repair, replace, or refund the product.
Exclusions
The following are not covered under the Snap One Limited Hardware Warranty:
- Damage caused by shipping or delivery services, or by improper opening of product packaging
- Operation, storage, or use outside the environmental and temperature specifications in the product documentation
- Acts of God - including flood, fire, earthquake, lightning, pandemic, or electrical surges
- Unauthorised repair or installation by the customer or a third party
- Accident, abuse, misuse, or neglect
- Use of incompatible devices, accessories, or incorrect voltage, fuses, or circuit breakers
- Interference from radio frequencies, infrared sources, or physical obstacles
- Normal wear and tear
- Failure to install, maintain, or repair in accordance with product documentation and applicable law
- Products modified to alter functionality without express written permission from Snap One
- Batteries and consumable parts (unless the damage was caused by a defect in materials or workmanship)
- Cosmetic damage - including scratches, dents, and normal wear
- Products where the serial number has been altered, removed, or defaced
- On-site labour costs for diagnosis, removal, repair, reinstallation, or reprogramming
- Third-party hardware or software, including functionality of third-party products controlled by ADI/Snap One products
- Damage to other property caused by a product not working properly
- Third-party products distributed by ADI/Snap One (these carry only the original manufacturer's warranty, if any)

Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have goods repaired or replaced if they fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.
Before sending any product for warranty service, back up any stored data or settings and disable any security passwords. Product contents may be deleted and storage media reformatted in the course of warranty service. Recovery of software, programming, or user data is not covered under the warranty.
