The ASSA ABLOY SMARTair Wireless Wall Reader with Keypad is a networked access control reader designed for doors, gates and automated access points requiring advanced authentication methods and real-time system communication.
This model supports HID iCLASS RFID credentials, PIN keypad authentication and Openow mobile credentials, allowing users to unlock controlled access points using a card, PIN code, smartphone, or a combination of authentication methods depending on system configuration.
Operating within the SMARTair Wireless Online architecture, the reader communicates with the SMARTair system via wireless hubs, enabling real-time credential management, audit trails and remote administration.
The integrated dual relay outputs allow the reader to control two independent devices such as electric strikes, maglocks, door automation systems or gate operators.

SMARTair Wireless Online Architecture
Wireless SMARTair readers communicate with the access control system through wireless communication hubs installed throughout the building.
- Reader communicates with SMARTair wireless hub.
- Hub connects to SMARTair management server.
- Credentials and access permissions are managed centrally.
- Audit events and access logs are recorded by the system.
This architecture allows administrators to manage credentials, schedules and access rights remotely while maintaining real-time system awareness.
Specifications & Reader Operation
- System architecture: Pro Wireless Online - the control/relay board carries the RF module (R4 circuit) and links to SMARTair communication hubs for real-time control. The platform can also be run in Standalone or Update-on-Card configurations.
- Credentials and authentication: HID iCLASS, MIFARE Classic and Ultralight, SKIDATA and DESFire, plus PIN entry via the integrated keypad; supports multi-authentication (RFID and PIN together). Read/write distance approx. 2-4 cm.
- Mobile access: Openow smartphone credentials over Bluetooth Low Energy are included on this model.
- Capacity: Normal mode 1500 users and 600 events; High-traffic mode with an unlimited number of users filtered into 48 groups and 1000 events.
- Time management: real-time clock and calendar; 14 time zones with 5 time periods; up to 20 operating-mode changes per door per day; yearly calendar; automatic daylight-saving change; clock/calendar retained for 48 hours without power (internal backup battery).
- Operating modes: Standard, Standard ADA (double opening time), Passage, Double-user and First-user.
- Relay board I/O: one output relay for the locking device, plus status inputs for door position (door sensor not included), request-to-exit and tamper.
- Power: cabled 12-24 VAC / VDC through the relay board; maximum consumption (reader + relay board) 500 mA @12V or 250 mA @24V. Combine with an electric strike, electromagnetic lock or other electromechanical device; cabling required, power supply not included.
- Emergency and service: jack connection for the portable programmer and emergency kit; LED (green / red) and buzzer for access-authorised / denied signalling; upgradeable firmware.
- Environmental: IP55 (wall reader); operating temperature -20 C to +80 C (reader) and -10 C to +80 C (relay board); up to 85% humidity; high traffic volume.

- Stainless steel does not mean stain-free. Tea staining is not covered where cleaning and maintenance guidelines have not been followed.
- Cosmetic, decorative and appearance damage is not covered.
- Battery failure or battery leakage damage is not covered.
What the Warranty Covers
- Defects in material and workmanship within the applicable period.
- Assessment by ASSA ABLOY to determine repair, replacement with the same or closest equivalent product, or refund of purchase price.
- Remedy determined at ASSA ABLOY’s discretion.

- Normal wear and tear.
- Misuse, abuse or installation outside published technical specifications.
- Improper maintenance or neglect.

Warranty Claim Process
- Retain proof of original purchase.
- Return the product to the original authorised retailer where applicable.
- If claiming directly, obtain a case number before returning goods.
- Securely package returned goods and clearly reference the case number.
- Warranty assessment determines repair, replacement or refund.
Australian Consumer Law
ASSA ABLOY warranties operate in addition to rights available under the Australian Consumer Law. Goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded. Customers may be entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and compensation for reasonably foreseeable loss or damage.
Where a product fails to meet acceptable quality standards and the failure does not amount to a major failure, the customer is entitled to repair or replacement.
