Auslock Gateway G2 — Wi-Fi Remote Access (AUS-G2)

The Auslock G2 Gateway is the plug-in bridge that converts your Bluetooth Auslock smart lock into a remotely accessible device. Without a gateway, the Auslock App controls the lock locally via Bluetooth only — useful, but limited to within about 5 m of the door. With the G2 connected to your 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network, you can lock, unlock, view the full activity log, manage credentials, and enable Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa voice control from anywhere in the world.

The G2 is the standard choice for residential homes, rental properties, and Airbnb setups. It plugs into any USB power point and sets up via the Auslock App in minutes. One G2 supports up to 5 compatible Auslock Bluetooth locks within range. For environments where Wi-Fi is unreliable or a wired connection is preferred, see the Auslock G3 Gateway (PoE Ethernet). For a full explanation of what a gateway does and when you need one, see Chapter 08 — Gateway Comparison.

Compatible Locks

The G2 is compatible with all current Auslock App smart locks. It must be positioned within approximately 12 m (open space) of each lock it serves. Compatible models include:

Not compatible with the Auslock A519 Push/Pull. The A519 uses the Usmart Go app platform, which is separate from the Auslock App. The G2 will not work with the A519.

What's in the Box

  • Auslock G2 Gateway Wi-Fi bridge ×1
  • USB-C power cable ×1
  • User manual
A USB power adaptor (plug) is not included — use any standard USB-A power point or adaptor capable of 5 VDC / 1.0 A output.

Suitable Uses

Residential homes — remote access for the main entry lock when away; check door status and receive notifications from anywhere.
Airbnb and short-stay rentals — remotely create timed guest codes before check-in and monitor activity without being on-site. See Chapter 07 — Smart locks for Airbnb.
Rental properties — manage tenant access remotely; add or remove credentials between tenancies without visiting the door.
Not suitable for 5 GHz-only or band-steered networks without configuration. The G2 requires a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network. If your router uses band-steering, you will need to separate the bands before the G2 can connect reliably. See band-steering guide. For wired network environments, see the G3 Gateway instead.

How It Works

The G2 sits between your Auslock smart lock and your home Wi-Fi router. It connects to the router via 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi and communicates with the lock using Bluetooth/Zigbee. The Auslock cloud relays commands between the G2 and the Auslock App on your phone, wherever you are. The lock itself continues to work normally via all local access methods whether or not the gateway is online.

2.4 GHz only — important network note. The G2 requires a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi connection. Many modern routers use band-steering — automatically merging 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz into a single network name — which can prevent the G2 from connecting reliably. You may need to split your router's bands into separate SSIDs and connect the G2 to the 2.4 GHz network specifically. See the band-steering guide for step-by-step instructions.
Placement tip. Position the G2 so it is within ~12 m (open space) of each lock it serves, and within reliable Wi-Fi range of your router. The closer to the lock, the stronger the Bluetooth/Zigbee signal. Walls, metal frames, and concrete floors all reduce effective range. If the gateway is between the router and the lock — rather than at either extreme — it will generally perform best.

Auslock App

The G2 works exclusively within the Auslock App ecosystem, available on iOS and Android. iOS App StoreAndroid Google Play It is not compatible with TTLock, Tuya, or any other smart lock app platform. For help choosing between Auslock and other platforms, see Chapter 15 — Smart Lock App Platforms.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many locks can one G2 support?
Up to 5 compatible Auslock Bluetooth locks, provided each lock is within approximately 12 m (open space) of the gateway.
My gateway keeps losing connection — what should I check?
The most common cause is band-steering on modern routers preventing a stable 2.4 GHz connection. Confirm your router broadcasts a separate 2.4 GHz SSID and the gateway is connected to it specifically. Also confirm the gateway is within ~12 m of the lock and within reliable Wi-Fi coverage of the router. See the smart lock FAQ on Wi-Fi dropouts for step-by-step guidance.
Do I need a gateway to use my Auslock lock?
No. All Auslock App locks work fully via Bluetooth without a gateway — unlock, manage credentials, and view history when within ~5 m of the lock. The gateway adds remote access from anywhere, voice control, and real-time notifications when away from the property. Without a gateway, credential changes also require physical proximity to the door.
The remote control button has disappeared from the app — how do I restore it?
Usually means the app cannot confirm the gateway is online. Work through: confirm you are logged in as admin; check the gateway has stable power; confirm 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi and internet are working; restart the gateway by unplugging for 10 seconds; then refresh the lock in the app. If the button is still missing, re-pair the gateway via the app. Common triggers include a router password change or the gateway being moved out of Wi-Fi range.
I changed internet provider and the gateway stopped working — what do I do?
The gateway must be reconnected to the new network. Confirm 2.4 GHz is available on the new router. Power cycle the gateway (unplug 10 seconds). In the Auslock App, open gateway settings and re-pair to the new Wi-Fi network. Wait 2–5 minutes then refresh lock status. For rental/remote setups, use a stable 2.4 GHz network name and avoid frequent password changes.

Additional Information

G2 vs G3 — which to choose
The G2 uses 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi and is the right choice for most homes, apartments, and rental properties where a standard Wi-Fi network is available. The G3 uses Power over Ethernet — it suits commercial buildings, IT-managed networks, and installs where a wired connection is preferred for reliability. The G3 also eliminates band-steering issues entirely since it does not use Wi-Fi at all. See Chapter 08 — G2 gateway overview for a full comparison.
Remote credential management for rentals
With the G2 online, create timed guest codes before check-in and set expiry to 30–60 minutes after checkout. Use recurring codes for cleaners. Name every code and e-key in the app — "Guest July" or "Cleaner Weekly" — so the activity log is readable. Without the gateway, all credential changes require being physically at the door.
Managing multiple locks across a property
One Auslock account can manage multiple locks, each with its own gateway or with locks sharing a single gateway's coverage. Name each lock clearly — property name plus door name. One gateway can serve up to 5 locks within range, making it practical for apartments with a front door and internal room locks on the same network.
