Austyle 59418 RFID Easy Unlock Fob - Matt Black (Pack of 3)
The Austyle 59418 is a pack of three card-format RFID credentials for Austyle smart locks. Each one measures 50 x 30mm and is 2mm thick - credit-card proportioned but a good deal smaller, sized to sit on a key ring or live flat in a wallet. Austyle's catalogue calls it the key chain RFID swipe card, which describes the intent well: hold it to the keypad and the door opens.
Every Austyle smart lock already ships with three RFID tags in the box, so this is a top-up rather than a necessity. You buy it when the household has outgrown three credentials, when a tag has been lost, or when you want a spare set to hand out and get back. Each lock holds up to 200 RFID credentials, so there is no practical ceiling.
The card format has one real advantage over the 59417 stick-on disc: it is a discrete object you can give someone and take back. A sticker on a tradesperson's phone is theirs forever. What is RFID?
RFID stands for radio frequency identification. The card holds a chip and an aerial and no battery at all. When you hold it to the keypad the lock powers it briefly through the air, reads its unique number, checks that number against its own list and opens if it matches. Nothing is stored on the card except an identifier, and nothing about it wears out.
In use it is the quickest way through a door - no code to remember, no phone to wake up, no app to wait on. That makes it the credential of choice for children, for older residents, and for anyone who finds a keypad fiddly. The trade-off is that it behaves like a key: whoever is holding it can open the door. The difference from a key is that you can cancel it from your phone in about five seconds. The access method comparison weighs the options against each other.
Registering one takes half a minute in the TTLock app: open Cards, add a card, choose permanent, timed or recurring, name it, then hold the card against the keypad. Name it after the person who will carry it - in two years "Cleaner" is far more useful than "Card 3".

Every Austyle smart lock ships with three RFID tags already, so you can use RFID from day one. Buy these when the household needs more than three, when one has gone missing, or when you want a set specifically to hand out and take back.
Card if the credential needs to be a separate object: handed to a cleaner, carried on a key ring, returned at the end of a tenancy. Sticker if you want it permanently attached to something the person already carries, typically the back of a phone case. Most households end up with both.
No. It is passive - the keypad powers it through the air for the instant it takes to read. There is nothing to charge and nothing to replace, and it will outlast several sets of batteries in the lock itself.
Delete it in the app and it stops working straight away. That is the main advantage over a metal key - no lock to change, no locksmith. Register a replacement from the pack and carry on. Revoke a missing card immediately rather than waiting to see if it turns up.
Yes. Register the same card to each lock and it opens all of them - useful where a front door and a garage or studio both run Austyle locks. Each registration is separate, so you can also revoke it from one door and leave it working on another.
Additional Information
The app lets you label each credential, and it is worth doing properly at the time. Two years on, "Cleaner - Tuesdays" is something you can confidently revoke; "Card 3" is something you leave active because you are not sure whose it is. The same applies to passcodes and fingerprints. The credentials guide covers the management side.
If a card is going to someone on a schedule - a cleaner, a carer, a regular contractor - set it to recurring when you register it rather than permanent. It then works only in the window you choose, and you are not relying on anyone returning anything. It also means a card that quietly disappears stops being useful on its own.
If the lock's batteries are dead the keypad cannot power the card, so nothing reads. The mechanical key override is the genuine fallback - know where the keyhole is on your model and keep a key somewhere you can actually get to it. What happens when the battery dies is a short read worth doing once.
Registering a credential is a Bluetooth operation, so you have to be beside the lock with your phone. Deleting one can be done remotely if the lock has a 59419 gateway - which is exactly the situation that matters when a card goes missing while you are away. RFID cards are the credential most households settle on once the novelty of app unlocking wears off - they are faster than a code and need no phone. Our access methods chapter and the Buyer's Guide put them in context.
Managing Credentials
Up to 200 RFID cards, the same across the whole Austyle range. Fingerprints also cap at 200, and passcodes at 150. For a house that is effectively no limit; even a small office or a short-stay property will not reach it. The practical constraint is managing them, not storing them.
Yes. At registration you choose permanent, timed or recurring. Recurring is the one worth knowing about - a cleaner's card that works Tuesdays between nine and eleven and at no other time. It removes the awkwardness of asking for a credential back, and a card that goes astray outside its window is useless. The credentials section has the detail.
A card is faster and needs nothing remembered, which suits children, older residents and anyone arriving with their hands full. A passcode can be issued remotely and shared over a message, which a card cannot. Most households run both: cards for the people who live there, passcodes for the ones who visit. The access method comparison sets out the trade-offs.
Compatibility and Limits
Austyle confirms its own range only. Other TTLock-platform locks from McGrath, Lockton and others use RFID as well, but Austyle does not state cross-brand card compatibility and use outside the confirmed range falls outside the warranty. The TTLock hardware ecosystem guide explains why this varies.
Pressing it flat against metal is the usual culprit - a steel key ring or a metal card holder sitting directly behind it will weaken the read. Water and weather are not an issue; the card is sealed and passive. If a card that always worked suddenly stops, check the lock's batteries first, because a weak keypad cannot power the card properly. Troubleshooting sets out the order to check things in.

- Damage caused by water entering from the inside of the door (the exterior is rated IP55; internal water ingress is not covered)
- Installation on tongue-and-groove doors, where water can penetrate through the groove
- Installation on gates
- Prolonged direct exposure to sunlight or rain - the lock must be positioned under an eave or in a sheltered area
- Damage caused by use of lithium or rechargeable batteries - only high-quality alkaline AA batteries (4 x AA) are supported
- Damage resulting from incorrect installation, misuse, or failure to follow the installation instructions
