Borg BL2401 ECP Mechanical Digital Lever Lock with Easicode Pro - Satin Chrome
At A Glance
The Borg BL2401 ECP is a fully mechanical digital lever lock for internal light to medium duty doors, cycle tested to over 100,000 operations. It uses Easicode Pro (ECP), which lets the PIN be changed on the door with the supplied key - no tools, no removing the lock. This is the lever-handle version of Borg's 2000 ECP family, built for doors where a knob-turn keypad isn't the right fit; Borg positions it as a direct lever-handle upgrade for any existing 130mm-centre digital pushbutton lock.
The lever clutches - it stays free-turning until the correct code is entered, so it can't be forced or levered open. An anti-thrust deadlatch pin engages automatically as the door closes against the strike, so the door is secured the moment it shuts, with no separate action needed. The inside lever is always free, giving immediate egress at any time.
Finished in satin chrome on a cast housing with stainless steel buttons, it accepts over 4,000 user-defined code combinations and is reversible on site without tools for either door swing. Holdback is optional on this model, letting the door be held free of the code when wanted. This model has a keypad outside and a plain lever inside (single-sided); for a back-to-back keypad-both-sides version, ask us about the BL2421 ECP.
Usually ships same day if ordered before 11am AEST (excludes weekends and Queensland public holidays).
For heavy duty, consider the Borg BL7701, Lockwood 3572DX, or Carbine CDL7100SC-HD - see our heavy duty commercial guide.
The BL2401 ECP accepts one active PIN code at a time - it can't store multiple codes or user credentials simultaneously. See our mechanical digital lock limitations guide.
The PIN code can be changed while the lock stays installed on the door, using the included code change key - no removal, no programming device, no tools required. See our Borg ECP code change guide for the full walk-through.
The inside lever can be held in an unlocked (latched-back) state for situations where the door needs to stay freely accessible for a while. Engage it on the inside lever; it can be disengaged again at any time. This is the single-sided model, so holdback applies to the inside lever only. See our passage mode vs holdback mode guide for when to use it - holdback is not suitable for fire doors.
Entirely mechanical - no power source, no wiring, and no battery maintenance. Code entry and latch operation are purely mechanical.
Fitting to a narrow aluminium gate frame
The standard 60mm tubular latch supplied with this lock won't fit a narrow 50mm × 50mm (or similar) aluminium gate frame. A shorter, extended-backset latch is needed instead - BLS272000LH or BLS272000RH (left or right hand). Confirm your frame dimensions and door hand before ordering. See our gate post latch guide for the full explanation.
This lock is rated for internal use only - not weather resistant. "Gate use" here means a covered or internal gate application (e.g. an internal security gate), not a gate exposed to the weather.
Access Methods
This is a PIN-code-only lock - there is no key override and no smart/app access on this model.

Accessories and Spares
The BL2400 ECP Series Brochure also references an XL fixing kit (Part No. S227) for doors up to 85mm - it isn't confirmed whether this is the same item as BLS227A above under a different code, or a separate, shorter-reach kit.

Frequently Asked Questions
With the door held open, enter the current code. Insert the code change key into the hole in the code change button and hold it down. Press C to clear the existing code, enter the new code, then release the key and press C again to confirm. Test the new code at least five times before closing the door. See our ECP code change steps for the full walk-through.
No. The BL2401 ECP holds a single active PIN code at a time. If several people need access, they either share the one code, or you re-code the lock between users. For genuine multi-user credential management, an electronic smart lock with per-user storage is a better fit - see our mechanical vs smart lock guide.
Yes, with the optional XL fixing kit (Part No. S227), which extends the compatible door thickness to 85mm. The standard fixings in the box suit doors up to 60mm thick.
Borg makes a back-to-back version (BL2421 ECP) with keypads on both faces of the door for access control from either side. It isn't currently a confirmed line in our catalogue, so if you need code entry from both sides, contact us and we'll confirm availability before you order.
Yes. The optional code change disabling plug is included in the box. Once inserted into the code change button's hole, it stops anyone starting a code change. This suits shared or commercial spaces where the code should be set by an administrator, not changed by day-to-day users.
Additional Information
The BL2401 ECP is non-handed from the factory and reversible on site. To switch it for the opposite hand, remove the keypad, rotate the latch 180 degrees, and refit - a few minutes' work with no special tools. The inside lever does not need reversing.
The tubular latch includes an anti-thrust pin that engages as the door closes against the strike plate, stopping the latch bolt being pushed back with a card or shim. The door deadlatches automatically on closing - no extra action needed.
Borg positions the BL2401 ECP as a direct lever-handle upgrade for any existing 130mm-centre digital pushbutton lock - useful when replacing an older mechanical keypad lock without changing the door prep.
Over 4,000 combinations are available using the 12 coded buttons, in codes of varying length. Longer codes give better protection against random guessing - avoid setting very short codes (one or two digits) in accessible locations.
Warranty
All Borg locks are warranted against mechanical defects in materials and workmanship under normal use and service for a minimum of 12 months from date of sale. The warranty does not cover damage arising from misuse, vandalism, or improper installation. The lock must not be dismantled - doing so will invalidate the warranty.

Access and Codes
A clutching lever spins freely on its own until the correct code is entered - it isn't rigidly connected to the latch mechanism until then. That means someone can grab and yank the lever all day without forcing the latch, unlike a rigid lever that can sometimes be levered or snapped. Once the code is entered, the lever engages and operates the latch normally.
Without the correct code the outside lever won't engage the latch, so treat the PIN like a house key and keep a written record somewhere safe. The lock has no app, no cloud backup and no locksmith override built in, so a forgotten code on a fitted lock generally means calling a locksmith to gain entry and re-code it from inside.
Holdback
Holdback is the right tool when you want the door genuinely free to swing for a while - deliveries, a busy stretch at a reception desk, moving furniture - without anyone needing the code. Disengage it as soon as the busy period is over. See our when to use holdback guide for more scenarios.
No - holdback should never be left engaged on a fire door, since it defeats the self-closing/latching function fire doors rely on. This lock carries no fire rating or fire-door certification, so it shouldn't be specified for fire-door applications at all. See our passage vs holdback and fire doors guide.
Installation and Fit
It's non-handed from the factory and reversible on site - remove the keypad, rotate the latch 180 degrees, and refit. See our door handing guide if you're not sure how Australian handing conventions work.
Yes - the standard latch is 60mm backset, with 50mm and 70mm backset latches available separately for doors that need them. Confirm your existing backset before ordering a replacement latch.
Gates and Retrofits
Yes, on a covered or internal gate - not one exposed to the weather, since this lock is rated for internal use only. On a narrow aluminium gate frame you'll also need the extended-backset BLS272000LH or BLS272000RH latch instead of the standard 60mm one. See our gate post latch guide for the full explanation.
Borg positions the BL2401 ECP as a direct lever-handle upgrade for any existing 130mm-centre digital pushbutton lock, so it's a common swap where the door prep already suits that spacing. Confirm your existing lock's centre spacing before ordering.

- Warranty claims for Borg products in Australia are processed through LSC, the authorised Australian importer and distributor. Where an item is returned to LSC, freight charges must be prepaid and the item returned within the warranty period.
- If LSC finds the returned item to be defective, it will be repaired or replaced, and a detailed assessment report is provided to the customer after examination.
Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure. The Borg manufacturer warranty above operates alongside - and does not limit - these statutory rights.
