Borg Mechanical Digital BL5050SC – Lever/Lever Back-to-Back – Euro Mortice Lock – Key Lockout – Satin Chrome
The Borg BL5050SC is a fully mechanical digital lock in a lever/lever back-to-back (BTB) configuration with a 60×72mm euro profile mortice lock instead of a tubular latch. Both sides of the door have a full lever keypad with independent coding chambers. Code required from both sides — no free inside egress.
The critical difference from the BL5051SC (BTB with tubular latch) is the euro mortice lockcase with key lockout capability. A separately sourced euro profile cylinder can be fitted into the lockcase, enabling the door to be deadlocked from outside using a key — while deadlocked, the keypad code does not operate the lock. This is the "code lockout" or "key lockout" function, ideal for securing a space after hours or preventing keypad access during specific periods. Two euro escutcheons are supplied to cover the cylinder hole on both sides. Euro cylinder is not included and must be sourced separately.
Usually same day if ordered before 11am AEST (excluding weekends and Qld public holidays)
The BL5050SC uses a 60×72mm euro profile mortice lockcase in place of the tubular latch found in the BL5051SC. The mortice lockcase is case-morticed into the door edge and provides a more substantial locking body than a tubular latch. The euro profile hole in the lockcase accommodates a separately sourced euro cylinder for key lockout operation.
A euro profile cylinder can be fitted into the lockcase to enable key lockout operation. When the euro cylinder is turned to the locked position, the door is deadlocked and the keypads will not operate the lock — code entry is disabled until the cylinder is unlocked by key. This allows the door to be secured out of hours or in situations where keypad access must be prevented entirely. Euro cylinder is not supplied — source separately from Terry's Locksmiths and specify a standard 60mm (30/30) euro profile cylinder.
Both sides have a full lever keypad with an independent coding chamber. Each side can be set to the same code, or each side can have a completely different code. A code must be entered to operate the lever from whichever side you are on.
The inside lever keypad requires the correct PIN before the lever operates the mortice latch. Confirm this suits your application and complies with any applicable fire egress or building regulations.
Successfully tested up to 4 hours (depending on doorset) on fire door assemblies in accordance with AS 1905.1-2005 Fire Resistant Doorsets.
Tumbler-based code system. To change the PIN on either side, that side's keypad must be removed. Remove the 4 red screws, lift the cover plate (springs attached), hold the C tumbler depressed, and use the supplied tweezers to reposition the red (coded) and blue (uncoded) tumblers. Up to 2,048 combinations. Each side is changed independently.
After entering the correct code and rotating the lever, press F to engage free passage mode on that side. To exit: rotate the lever and press C until an audible click is heard. Independent per side and permanently deactivatable.
Entirely mechanical. No power source, no wiring, and no battery maintenance at any point.
For heavy duty: consider the Borg BL7701, Lockwood DX, or Carbine CDL7000.
Each keypad accepts one active PIN code at a time. Each side can be set to a different code independently.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the key lockout function and how does it work?
The BL5050SC euro mortice lockcase has a standard euro profile cylinder hole. When a separately sourced euro cylinder is fitted and turned to the locked position, the latch bolt is deadlocked and the keypad code will not operate the lock. This means a keyholder can lock out all keypad access — useful for securing a space after closing time without changing or removing the code. To restore keypad access, the euro cylinder is turned back to the unlocked position. Without a euro cylinder fitted, the key lockout function is inactive and the lock operates as a standard code-only BTB unit.
What euro cylinder do I need?
A standard euro profile cylinder with a total length of 60mm (30mm each side, i.e. 30+30mm) is the most common size for this lockcase, but confirm the correct length for your door thickness with your locksmith before purchasing. Any reputable brand of euro cylinder in the correct size will work. Contact your locksmith if you want the cylinder keyed to match other locks on the property or integrated into a master keying system.
What is the difference between BL5050SC and BL5051SC?
The BL5051SC uses a tubular latch and has up to 8,000+ combinations. The BL5050SC uses a euro profile mortice lock (more substantial lockcase, case-morticed into the door edge) and has up to 2,048 combinations. The BL5050SC adds the key lockout function via euro cylinder. Choose BL5050SC where the euro mortice format is specified or where key lockout capability is required. Choose BL5051SC where a tubular latch is preferred and a higher combination count is important.
How do I change the PIN code?
Code change requires removing the relevant keypad from the door. Remove the 4 red screws, carefully lift the cover plate (springs are attached), hold the C tumbler depressed at all times, then use the supplied tweezers to reposition the red (coded) and blue (uncoded) tumblers. Each side is changed independently. Test before reinstalling. Codes are non-sequential — buttons can be pressed in any order.
Can the two sides have different codes?
Yes. Each lever keypad has its own independent coding chamber. Change the tumblers on each side separately to set different codes. Both sides can also share the same code by setting both chambers to identical configurations.
Is this fire rated?
Yes. The BL5050SC is fire rated to AS 1905.1-2005 (up to 4 hours depending on doorset). When specifying for a fire door, confirm that all hardware in the assembly is fire rated and compatible with the doorset certification. Also confirm that requiring code entry from inside to exit complies with emergency egress requirements for your specific application and occupancy classification before specifying for an egress fire door.
Additional Information
The tumbler code can be set on or off the door. Set and verify both side codes on the bench before installation. This avoids removing a fitted keypad for the first code change and lets you confirm both sides operate correctly before mounting.
The euro cylinder (not supplied) should be fitted by a locksmith who can confirm the correct length for your door, key the cylinder appropriately, and optionally integrate it into your master keying system. Keep physical key access restricted to authorised persons. If a cylinder key is lost, replace the cylinder to maintain security integrity.
The euro mortice lockcase requires a mortice pocket to be cut into the door edge (60×72mm). This is a more involved installation than a tubular latch and typically requires a router or specialist drill guide. The door edge faceplate must be recessed flush. Always verify the door material is suitable for morticing before specifying this product.
The BL5050SC BTB configuration requires code entry from inside. Confirm this complies with emergency egress requirements for your specific fire door application. Where the door is on an escape route, requiring code entry from inside may conflict with occupancy or fire safety regulations. Confirm with your fire door certifier or building surveyor before specifying.
All Borg locks are warranted against mechanical defects in materials and workmanship under normal use and service for a minimum of 12 months from date of sale. The warranty does not cover damage arising from misuse, vandalism, or improper installation. The lock must not be dismantled — doing so will invalidate the warranty.
