Borg Mechanical Digital BL5000SC – Lever/Lever – Euro Mortice Lock – Key Lockout – Satin Chrome
The Borg BL5000SC is a fully mechanical digital lever lock with a 60×72mm euro profile mortice lock. The external lever is clutched and requires a code to open; the inside lever is always free to turn for immediate egress without a code. This is a single-sided lock — one keypad outside, one free lever inside. It is not a back-to-back configuration.
The euro mortice lockcase includes a euro cylinder hole, enabling a separately sourced euro cylinder to be fitted for key lockout operation — when the cylinder is locked by key, the door is deadlocked and the keypad is disabled. This allows the space to be key-secured after hours or when keypad access needs to be fully prevented. Over 8,000 code combinations. Fire rated to AS 1905.1-2005 (up to 4 hours). Fully mechanical — no batteries. Suits doors 35mm to 54mm thick.
Usually same day if ordered before 11am AEST (excluding weekends and Qld public holidays)
The BL5000SC uses a 60×72mm euro profile mortice lockcase (22mm bolt throw) morticed into the door edge — not a tubular latch. The euro profile hole in the lockcase accommodates a separately sourced euro cylinder for key lockout operation.
The inside lever is always free to turn. No code is required to open the door from inside. Only the outside (keypad) lever requires a code.
A euro profile cylinder can be fitted into the mortice lockcase euro hole to enable key lockout. When the cylinder is locked by key, the door is deadlocked and the outside keypad is disabled — code entry will not open the door. Useful for securing the space after hours or when keypad access must be prevented. The door can still be opened from inside (inside lever is always free). Euro cylinder is not supplied — source separately from Terry's Locksmiths; specify a standard 60mm (30+30mm) euro profile cylinder.
Successfully tested up to 4 hours (depending on doorset) on fire door assemblies in accordance with AS 1905.1-2005 Fire Resistant Doorsets.
This model uses a tumbler-based code system. To change the PIN, the outside keypad must be removed. Remove the 4 red screws, lift the cover plate (springs attached), hold the C tumbler depressed, then use the supplied tweezers to reposition the red (coded) and blue (uncoded) tumblers. Over 8,000 combinations; code length adjustable 3–7 digits.
After entering the correct code and rotating the outside lever, press F to engage free passage mode. The outside lever becomes free-turning without code entry. To exit: rotate the lever and press C until an audible click is heard. Permanently deactivatable using the included plug.
Entirely mechanical. No power source, no wiring, and no battery maintenance at any point.
For heavy duty: consider the Borg BL7701, Lockwood DX, or Carbine CDL7000.
Accepts one active PIN code at a time.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is this a back-to-back lock?
No. The BL5000SC is a single-sided lock: one keypad on the outside, one free lever on the inside. The inside lever is always free to turn — no code is required to open the door from inside. If you need code entry from both sides, see the BL5050SC (back-to-back, lever/lever, euro mortice).
What is the key lockout function and how does it work?
The euro mortice lockcase has a standard euro profile cylinder hole. When a separately sourced euro cylinder is fitted and turned to the locked position, the latch is deadlocked and the outside keypad is disabled — code entry will not open the door while deadlocked. The door can still be opened from inside at any time (inside lever is always free). To restore keypad access from outside, unlock the euro cylinder by key. Without a cylinder fitted, the key lockout function is inactive and the lock operates as a code-only unit.
What euro cylinder do I need?
A standard euro profile cylinder in the correct length for your door thickness. The most common size is 60mm total (30+30mm). Confirm the correct length with your locksmith before purchasing. Any reputable brand in the correct size will work. Contact your locksmith if you want the cylinder keyed to match other locks on the property.
What is the difference between BL5000SC and BL5001SC?
The BL5001SC uses a 60mm tubular latch and has no key lockout function. The BL5000SC uses a 60×72mm euro profile mortice lock with key lockout capability via euro cylinder. Both are single-sided with a free inside lever and the same combination count. Choose BL5000SC where a euro mortice format is specified, where the architectural specification requires a mortice lockcase, or where key lockout capability is required. Choose BL5001SC where a tubular latch is preferred and key lockout is not required.
How do I change the PIN code?
Remove the outside keypad from the door (4 red screws). Carefully lift the cover plate (springs are attached). Hold the C tumbler depressed at all times. Use the supplied tweezers to reposition the red (coded) and blue (uncoded) tumblers. All square cut-outs must face outward; coloured marks must face upward. Test the new code thoroughly before reinstalling. Codes are non-sequential — the buttons can be pressed in any order. Spare tumblers are supplied to adjust code length from 3 to 7 digits.
Is this lock fire rated?
Yes. The BL5000SC is fire rated to AS 1905.1-2005 for use on fire door assemblies (up to 4 hours depending on the doorset). When specifying for a fire door, confirm all other hardware in the assembly is also fire rated and compatible with the doorset certification. The inside lever is always free, which meets free egress requirements in most fire door applications. Confirm with your fire door certifier.
Additional Information
The euro cylinder (not supplied) should be fitted by a locksmith who can confirm the correct length for your door, key the cylinder appropriately, and optionally integrate it into your existing master keying system. Keep physical key access restricted to authorised persons. If a cylinder key is lost, replace the cylinder to maintain security integrity.
The euro mortice lockcase requires a mortice pocket to be cut into the door edge (60×72mm). This is a more involved installation than a tubular latch and typically requires a router or specialist drill guide. The door edge faceplate must be recessed flush with the door edge. Always verify the door material is suitable for morticing before specifying.
The tumbler code can be set on or off the door. Set and verify the code on the bench before installation. This avoids removing a fitted keypad for the first code change and lets you confirm the code works correctly before mounting.
The inside lever is always free, which supports free egress requirements. If a euro cylinder is fitted for key lockout, confirm that locking the cylinder from outside (which deadlocks the door) does not conflict with fire safety egress requirements for the specific occupancy. Confirm with your fire door certifier or building surveyor before specifying key lockout on a fire door on an egress route.
All Borg locks are warranted against mechanical defects in materials and workmanship under normal use and service for a minimum of 12 months from date of sale. The warranty does not cover damage arising from misuse, vandalism, or improper installation. The lock must not be dismantled — doing so will invalidate the warranty.
