The Carbine CEL2-3IN1-SL8SNKIT is the standalone leverset in the CEL2-3IN1 range, providing three access methods: touchscreen PIN code, RFID/NFC credential, and mechanical key override. It stores up to 100 combined user codes and RFID credentials in a shared pool with no hub, gateway, or internet connection required.
The CEL2-3IN1 leverset is the second generation of the original CEL-3IN1, featuring a new lower-profile escutcheon and improved touchscreen and motor. Credential capacity has increased from 25 PIN codes + 25 RFID cards to 100 combined. The leverset is designed to IP54 standards and is NCC compliant. Access Methods
Works on 13.56MHz Mifare NFC (ISO14443 Type A) — RFID cards, FOBs, wristbands, stickers, and most NFC-enabled Android phones. Australian Mifare transit cards (Go card, Opal, Myki, SmartRider, MyWay, metroCard) are compatible. Visa PayWave and Mastercard PayPass are NOT compatible (ISO14443 Type B). If your phone’s NFC chip is incompatible, a Mifare RFID sticker on the back of the phone is the recommended workaround. The CEL2-BT-SL8SNKIT adds Bluetooth via the Carbine Connect App and increases capacity to 200 combined codes and 10 Bluetooth users. This model (CEL2-3IN1-SL8SNKIT) is the standalone version — no app or Bluetooth, simpler setup, same physical format. Will my NFC phone work as an RFID credential?
Most NFC-enabled Android phones with Mifare support work. Verify your phone’s NFC chip compatibility before installation. Visa PayWave and Mastercard PayPass are not compatible. What is passage mode and how do I use it?
Passage mode keeps the latch retracted so the door swings freely without a code. To activate: enter a valid code, then immediately hold [#] for 1 second. To deactivate: wake the screen and hold [#] again. Useful for open hours or busy entry periods. See: Buyers Guide Ch04: Door Types
My door is not within 35–51mm or 60–70mm backset — will this fit?

Additional Information
The connecting cable between the exterior and interior modules must be seated correctly in the designated channel of the mounting plate. Incorrect routing is the most common installation error — a pinched cable causes an unresponsive keypad, a battery cover that won’t close, or the Set button being held down permanently. The factory default programming code is 12345678. It can both unlock the door and access programming mode. Change it to a private code immediately after installation. Issue separate user codes or RFID cards for day-to-day access; never share the programming code with tenants or users. See: The realities of electronic door locks
The CEL2-3IN1 uses a new lower-profile escutcheon. Screw hole positions differ from the original CEL-3IN1, so existing fixing holes may not align. CEL2 retrofit plates (CEL2-L-RP-SS or CEL2-L-RP-MB, 88×195mm) are available to cover old screw holes on both faces of the door. Confirm fitment with the retrofit plate spec sheet before ordering.
Confirm all hardware in the fire door assembly — including hinges, closers, seals, and strike — is compatible and rated. The CEL2-3IN1-SL8SN-FRKIT is the dedicated fire door kit; the standard SL8SNKIT is also certified but the FR kit includes specific hardware for fire door compliance.
