The Lockwood 3782-DXKITSC is the DX digital conversion kit for the Selector 3782 short backset mortice lock platform. It turns a compatible 3782-series primary lock into a mechanical keypad-controlled entry point - no batteries, no wiring, no app. The kit is designed for narrow-stile and aluminium door applications where a standard 60mm backset mortice would not fit.

This is a kit only. It does not include the primary 3782-series mortice lock or the Lockwood 4800 or 5800 series furniture. The kit supplies the digital codepad, mounting plate, codepad spindle, mounting hardware (SP3772DX-119 accessory pack), latching adaptor, and code change kit. The primary lock body and door furniture are ordered separately to match your door and functional requirements.

The 3782 short backset family covers four backset dimensions: 23mm, 25.4mm, 30mm and 38mm. On open-in doors, the 38mm backset (6782SS primary lock) is generally preferred to avoid door stop clearance issues that affect the three shorter options. This is the version without key override - the 3782-DXKOKITSC adds key override but is restricted to a narrower 43-46mm door range.

This SKU is a DX digital conversion kit, not a complete mortice lockset. To install it you also need: a compatible Lockwood Selector 3782-series primary mortice lock (3782SS, 4782SS, 5782SS or 6782SS depending on your backset), and Lockwood 4800 or 5800 series door furniture. Compatibility - Which Primary Locks This Kit Suits

This kit suits the 3782-series primary mortice locks only. The primary lock is ordered separately and selected by backset dimension. Cylinders and furniture are also ordered separately.

Decoding Lockwood Codes - The 3782 and DX Kit System

The 3782 short backset family uses a number-prefix scheme that differs from the standard Lockwood DX mortice range. Understanding it prevents ordering the wrong primary lock.

Code Control - How the Code Works and How to Change It

The 3782-DXKITSC uses the same DX coding chamber as every other Lockwood DX product. Digit order does not matter - any combination of the same digits opens the lock. Each digit can only appear once in the code. The factory code is 4 digits.

Operation
Press C (clears any prior entry), enter your code digits in any order, turn the knob. Release the knob and the code clears automatically.

Changing the Code - A Fiddly Bench Job
The keypad comes off the door. Small metal tumblers inside the coding chamber are repositioned to set the new code. It is doable with the supplied kit, but the tumblers are small and the sequence matters. Procedure on page 4 of the Lockwood DX Digital Service Manual. Does it need batteries or wiring?
No. The 3782-DXKITSC is entirely mechanical. The DX coding chamber is a physical tumbler system with no electronics of any kind. It operates on a power cut, never needs charging, and has no firmware to update.

How is the code changed?
The keypad comes off the door. Metal tumblers inside the coding chamber are repositioned to set the new combination. Fiddly bench job but doable with the supplied kit. Procedure on page 4 of the DX Digital Service Manual and in our plain-English walkthrough. Test the new code five times with the door open before closing.

Open-In Door Clearance
On open-in doors, the 23mm, 25.4mm and 30mm backset options may require machining of the door stop to clear the digital codepad. The 38mm backset (6782SS) is generally preferred for open-in applications as it provides additional clearance. See measuring the stile for sizing guidance.

3772 vs 3782 - Choose the Right Platform

Different lock platforms entirely. The 3772-DXKITSC suits the Selector 3772 standard backset mortice (60/89/127mm) for standard timber stile doors. The 3782-DXKITSC suits the Selector 3782 short backset mortice (23-38mm) for narrow-stile aluminium and metal section doors. How do I identify which backset (and therefore which primary lock) I need?
Measure from the door edge to the centre of the existing cylinder or spindle. The 3782 family encodes this in the first digit: 3782SS=23mm, 4782SS=25.4mm, 5782SS=30mm, 6782SS=38mm. Timber doors 32-50mm and metal doors 35-50mm, per the Selector 3700 Series Catalogue. The door must have a minimum internal depth of 38mm to accommodate the fitting. This kit is specifically designed for narrow-stile aluminium and metal section doors. Confirm your door preparation against the mounting templates in the 3700 Series Service Manual before ordering.

Is this suitable for a DIY install?
In most cases, no. The 3782 platform requires cutting into an aluminium frame to tight tolerances, aligning the codepad spindle and mounting plate accurately, and matching the latching adaptor to the correct cam configuration. Can this kit be used on a fire door?
The Selector 3780 platform is fire tested to up to 4 hours doorset-dependent per AS 1905.1-2005. However, "platform tested" and "your specific doorset is compliant" are not the same thing. Final compliance depends on the complete tested doorset: primary lock, frame, latch preparation, closer, seals, and installation method. The certifier assesses the assembly, not just the kit. Code Operation and Product Selection

How does the any-order coding work?
The DX coding chamber is mechanical - metal tumblers correspond to each digit. The chamber does not care what order you press the buttons; it only checks which buttons were pressed. "1234", "4321" and "2143" all open the same lock. Each digit can only appear once. This is the standard DX architecture used across all Lockwood DX products - 002, 530, 3572 and both Selector kit families. See any-order codes explained.

When should I choose the 3782 DX kit versus a complete DX lockset like the 3572DX?
The 3782 kit is for narrow-stile and aluminium section doors where the door construction dictates a short backset format.
