FORGE European Cylinder Smart Lock - Fingerprint, PIN, RFID, TTLock
At A Glance
(G5 Gateway)
The FORGE European Cylinder Smart Lock (FECYLDSEU matt silver / FECYLDBEU matt black) replaces the euro cylinder in a compatible European-profile mortice lock with a smart cylinder: a fingerprint, keypad and card knob outside, and an internal turn snib inside. The mortice lock and the rest of the door hardware stay.
It suits a required outside cylinder length of 34-44 mm, set with positioning screws, and a backset of at least 25 mm. Unlock with a fingerprint, a PIN code on physical buttons 1-6, a MIFARE M1 card, the TTLock app over Bluetooth or the mechanical key, and add FORGE's optional G5 gateway for remote unlock. It runs on 2 x CR123A batteries for about 6-10 months, and the outside knob is rated IP55 for a sheltered door.
For an Australian oval-cylinder lockset, see the FORGE Australian Oval Cylinder Smart Lock. Made in China for FORGE, an Australian brand based in Ringwood, Victoria, with FORGE's 2-year warranty.
Usually ships in 24 hours.
Owned by FORGE Electrical (Australia) · Manufactured in China. Our independent FORGE brand profile sets out how the range compares with the other brands we stock.
Access Methods
From the inside, turn the internal turn snib - no credential is needed to open the door from inside.

TTLock App
Set the lock up in the free TTLock app, available for iOS and Android ![]()
. Choose Australia as your location when you sign up, give the app full permissions and turn Bluetooth on. Until the first administrator is added the lock is in its factory state - the default admin code is 123456 and any fingerprint will open it - so pair it as soon as it is fitted. FORGE's TTLock pairing guide shows the steps; keep your phone within 2 metres while pairing. The introduction pages of the manual cover the same ground for this model.
TTLock is one of the two global smart lock platforms - how it compares with Tuya is set out in our TTLock vs Tuya comparison, and the wider TTLock range in Chapter 14 - the TTLock hardware ecosystem. The app itself is covered in the TTLock app user manual.
Without a gateway the European Cylinder is managed over Bluetooth when your phone is within about 5-10 metres - see what a TTLock lock can do without Wi-Fi. FORGE offers the FORGE TTLock G5 gateway as the add-on for remote Wi-Fi management and unlocking: with it plugged in within range you can unlock on demand from anywhere, change codes, check records and set a passage-mode schedule remotely - Bluetooth vs gateway in Chapter 14. Remote Unlock has to be switched on in the app and Power Saving Mode turned off (manual page 18).

- Apartment, townhouse and office doors sheltered from direct rain.
- Rentals and shared premises where codes and cards are managed in TTLock (audit trails).
- Doors that need a simple turn to open from inside.
- A required outside cylinder length over 44 mm - FORGE rates it not suitable.
- A backset under 25 mm.
- Inward-opening doors where the knob would hit the jamb as the door closes.
- Australian oval, round or rim cylinders - this is the European profile.
- Doors exposed to driving rain - the outside knob is IP55.

Will It Fit? Cylinder Length and Backset
This cylinder replaces an existing European-profile cylinder and its inside turn, so the fit comes down to the outside cylinder length and the backset. FORGE's measurement guide (PDF) and manual page 5 set out the check.
- Outside cylinder length - with or without a handle, measure from the centre of the cylinder screw hole in the lock's faceplate to the outside surface of the cylinder cover plate. FORGE's adjustment range is 34-44 mm.
- Door thickness - the turn snib and cylinder each have three positioning-screw positions, giving 71.4-91.6 mm overall. Measure the existing cylinder end to end.
- Backset - FORGE's minimum is 25 mm.
- Jamb clearance - on an inward-opening door with a jamb, check the 40 mm knob clears the jamb as the door closes.
- Not sure? Send us a photo of the faceplate and the cylinder with a tape measure in shot and we will check it with you.
Measuring tips for faceplates and cylinders are in examples of helpful photos.

FORGE Smart Cylinders
This product is in bold. Both cylinders read fingerprints (up to 200), PIN codes on physical buttons 1-6 (up to 150) and MIFARE M1 cards (up to 200), run on TTLock over Bluetooth with the optional G5 gateway for remote access, take 2 x CR123A batteries and carry IP55 on the outside knob. Both need a 25 mm minimum backset.
Accessories and Spares
FORGE also names its DB2 video doorbell, which has a TTLock gateway built in, as a remote route for this lock - ask us if you want one. Other gateways are in the modules and Wi-Fi gateways category, and more cards and fobs in the RFID credentials range.
Battery and Emergency Power
The cylinder runs on 2 x CR123A lithium batteries behind the cover on the outside knob, rated by FORGE at about 6-10 months depending on use. FORGE's parts drawing marks the batteries as not included, so buy a pair with the lock. To change them, undo the battery cover screw, turn the cap anticlockwise, lift the cover and fit the cells the right way round (manual page 10). The lock warns you when it has roughly 50 to 100 unlocks left - replace both cells then. There is no USB emergency port on this cylinder: the mechanical key is the backup if the batteries go flat, so keep a key somewhere away from the door (key storage ideas). More on what really affects battery life and power and battery FAQs.
Weather Rating - IP55 Outside Knob
FORGE rates the outside smart-cylinder assembly IP55 against dust and low-pressure water jets when correctly installed, with a working range of -10 to 55 degrees C and 0-95% humidity. It suits a door that is sheltered from direct rain - under an eave, porch or awning. It is not designed for driving rain, salt spray, flooding or immersion; FORGE recommends a rain hood where the door is exposed, and water damage beyond the rating is not covered by the warranty (non-warranty disclaimer). IP55 is a lower rating than FORGE's outdoor gate locks - see IP ratings explained and, on the coast, coastal environments.
FORGE European Cylinder - Technical Specifications
Dimensions
Before ordering, measure the cylinder length on your door as shown in FORGE's measurement guide (PDF) - see Will It Fit? above. The guide is also in the Dimensions tab.
Platform and Data
Platform. The European Cylinder runs on TTLock - Bluetooth to your phone, with the TTLock G5 gateway for remote access. Remote unlock and management need the gateway; at the door the lock works without the internet.
Where your data goes. TTLock is run by Sciener, a Chinese company. Accounts outside China use TTLock's out-of-China servers; where that infrastructure is hosted, and which region Australian accounts use, is not published - in short, a Chinese company's servers, location unpublished. For the platform-by-platform picture see where each smart lock platform hosts its data, and for TTLock's security record see Chapter 14 - TTLock security.
Installation
Fitting is a cylinder swap: the existing euro cylinder and inside turn come out on the cylinder screw, and the smart cylinder goes in with its own turn snib. The installation section of the manual runs through each step with drawings.
- Set the length first - move the positioning screws between the three hole positions on the turn-snib side and the cylinder side to suit the door (manual page 6).
- Remove the existing cylinder and inside turn by undoing the cylinder screw in the faceplate (manual page 7).
- Fit the smart cylinder from outside and secure it with the cylinder screw (manual page 8).
- Attach the internal turn snib to the tail shaft at the positioning hole for your door thickness and fix it with its screw (manual page 9).
- Fit the 2 x CR123A batteries - battery cover screw out, cap anticlockwise, cover off (manual page 10) - then check the outside knob turns freely while locked and engages after 123456# (manual page 11).
- Unsure about the length or backset? Terry's offers installation across the Gold Coast.
Which way a door is handed is explained in how to tell which way your door or gate opens.
Frequently Asked Questions
If your mortice lock takes a European-profile cylinder, the required outside length is 44 mm or less and the backset is at least 25 mm - see Will It Fit? above and FORGE's measurement guide.
Yes - an internal turn snib comes with it and replaces your existing inside turn.
The knob has six number buttons plus * and #, so passcodes use only 1-6, 4-9 digits long.
Yes, with the optional FORGE TTLock G5 gateway. Without it, the app works over Bluetooth within about 5-10 metres.
2 x CR123A lithium cells, for about 6-10 months. FORGE's parts drawing marks them as not included. The mechanical key is the backup.
Additional Information
- Measure the outside cylinder length before ordering. The cylinder suits up to 44 mm on the outside; longer will not fit.
- Register an administrator straight away. Until the first administrator is added in the app, the lock is in its factory state with the default code 123456.
- Buy batteries with it. It runs on 2 x CR123A cells, which FORGE's parts drawing shows as not included.
- Shelter matters. The outside knob is IP55 - fine under an eave or porch, not for a door that takes driving rain.
- Keep the mechanical keys away from the door - there is no USB emergency port, so the key is the backup (key storage ideas).
Warranty
2-year FORGE warranty from the date of delivery - covers defects in materials and workmanship under normal use. Excludes improper installation or maintenance, misuse, accident, normal wear and tear (including fading or dulling of finishes) and water damage beyond the product's rated IP protection. FORGE European Cylinder Smart Lock - FAQ, Setup and Owner's Guide
Everything below is here to help you choose, fit, set up and live with the FORGE European Cylinder. For general smart lock questions see our Smart Lock FAQ (Chapter 13), and for measuring and fitting the Buyer's Guide.
Fit and Measuring
With or without a handle on the door, measure from the centre of the cylinder screw hole in the faceplate to the outside surface of the cylinder cover plate (manual page 5). Up to 44 mm suits this cylinder.
Both the turn-snib side and the cylinder side have three positioning-screw holes. Moving the screws sets the cylinder between 71.4 and 91.6 mm overall (manual page 6).
At least 25 mm, measured from the door edge to the centre of the cylinder - how to measure backset.
Usually, but check that the 40 mm knob clears the door jamb as the door closes.
No - this is the European profile. For an oval-cylinder lockset, see the FORGE Australian Oval Cylinder Smart Lock.
Press the finger firmly on the sensor several times when prompted, moving it slightly each time so the lock captures different areas. Avoid wet fingers. Older people can have flatter fingerprints - register the same finger more than once. Children's fingerprints change as they grow, so update them every few months or give them a passcode.
A duress fingerprint. You register it like any other, but when it is used the administrator receives an alarm notification. It is meant for an emergency where someone is forcing you to open the door, not for daily use.
Four: time-limited, one-time (it must be used within 6 hours of being created), permanent and recurring. Time-limited, permanent and recurring codes must be used once within 24 hours of their start time or the lock suspends them. Codes are generated by the app and can be customised afterwards, 4 to 9 digits (manual page 14; Chapter 14 - passcode types).
MIFARE M1 cards - up to 200. Extra FORGE MIFARE 1K cards are sold separately.
An eKey gives another TTLock account the right to unlock - time-limited, one-time, permanent or recurring - with options for remote unlock, an unlock link that works without the app, or near-administrator rights (TTLock eKeys).
After five wrong attempts in a row the lock ignores all input for 90 seconds. The keypad goes back to sleep after 20 seconds without use.
The knob only has digits 1-6, so a code containing 0, 7, 8 or 9 cannot be entered. Create codes using 1-6 only, 4-9 digits long.
Remote Access and the G5 Gateway
Only for remote use. Fingerprint, PIN and card entry work with no phone at all, and the app works over Bluetooth within about 5-10 metres. Add the FORGE TTLock G5 gateway to unlock on demand, change codes or check records from away from home - what a gateway actually does and the G5 explained.
Plug it in indoors within Bluetooth range of the lock, on a 2.4 or 5 GHz Wi-Fi network - the closer the better, with as few walls as possible in between. If the lock keeps dropping off, see the real fixes for Wi-Fi dropouts and gateway placement.
Remote Unlock must be switched on for the lock in the app, and Power Saving Mode turned off (manual page 18). Check that the gateway shows the lock in range.
Yes - FORGE offers the FORGE TTLock Bluetooth remote as an add-on for the European Cylinder. It unlocks at close range without the app or a code.
Power and Batteries
About 6-10 months on 2 x CR123A, depending on use. The lock warns you when roughly 50 to 100 unlocks remain.
Use the mechanical key from outside - there is no USB emergency port - then fit two new CR123A cells. From inside, the turn snib still opens the door.
Installation and Troubleshooting
Hold the reset button for 5 seconds, then enter 000# at the prompt (manual page 19). This returns the lock to the default code 123456.
No - while locked the outside knob turns freely. Once a credential is accepted, the knob engages the cylinder and turns the lock.
