McGrath Locks Bardon Internal Snib Blank Disc

This McGrath blank disc covers the internal snib opening on the McGrath Bardon smart lock when the snib has been removed. It gives the inside of the handle a clean, finished appearance where the snib used to sit.

It is most often needed on fire-rated door installations - for example when the Bardon is paired with an F54 ANSI mortice lock - where an internal privacy snib is not permitted. The disc is a small passive accessory: no electronics, no moving parts, adhesive-backed for a simple fit.

Key Features

  • Covers the internal snib opening on the McGrath Bardon smart lock once the snib is removed.
  • Commonly required when pairing the Bardon with an F54 ANSI mortice lock on fire-rated doors.
  • Adhesive backing for a clean, straightforward fit.
  • 32mm diameter, 2.2mm thick - sized specifically for the Bardon internal handle.
  • Passive accessory - no electronics, no moving parts.
Fire door note
Fire-Door Installations
On fire-rated doors an internal privacy snib is generally not permitted, so the snib is removed and this disc covers the opening. The disc itself does not carry a fire rating - fire compliance is system-based and depends on the complete doorset and hardware. For the standard and lock-type detail, see the F05 vs F54 ANSI mortice locks guide and the Fire Door Smart Locks chapter.

Suitable Uses

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this disc supplied with the Bardon smart lock?
Yes. The Bardon is supplied with one blank disc. This listing is a replacement item.
When is this disc required?
When the internal snib is removed - most commonly for fire-rated door installations using an F54 ANSI mortice lock, where a privacy snib is not permitted.
Does this disc make the lock fire rated?
No. The disc itself is not fire rated. Fire compliance depends on the complete doorset and hardware configuration - see the fire door certification guide.
What is the internal snib and why remove it?
The snib is an internal privacy lock. On some doors - fire doors especially - it is removed so the door cannot be locked in a way that blocks entry or egress. The internal snib guide explains what it disables.

Additional Information

  • Small but important: on a compliant fire-door install the snib is removed and this disc gives the internal handle a clean finish over the opening.
  • Clean and lightly prepare the surface before fitting so the adhesive bonds well.
  • Suits the McGrath Bardon internal handle assembly only.
  • For choosing between F05 and F54 mortice locks on the Bardon, the F05 vs F54 guide covers which suits which door.
