Austyle Extended Striker Plate - 85mm (60mm Lip Extension) - 304 Stainless Steel
The Austyle Extended Striker Plate (85mm) is a mechanical jamb-hardware accessory that mounts on the door frame at the strike, where the latch and deadbolt engage. It is a one-piece plate pressed from 304 stainless steel, combining a strike faceplate - with separate openings for a latch and a deadbolt, and three countersunk fixing holes - and an integral flat side extension (60mm) that reaches out across the frame beside the strike.
That extension gives the plate a much larger fixed footprint on the frame than a plain strike: it spreads the closing and locking load, adds coverage across the frame face, and lets the plate span or conceal a larger, offset or worn strike cut-out. The two openings guide the latch and the deadbolt cleanly into the jamb. The 85mm figure is the plate's overall width; the 60mm figure is the side extension.
Two finishes are available on this listing - Satin Chrome and Matt Black - so the plate can be matched to Austyle lever, entrance and deadbolt hardware already on the door. This is passive mechanical hardware: there are no electronics, no battery and no setup.
Key Features
- 60mm side extension - a flat flange that reaches across the frame beside the strike, giving a much larger fixed footprint than a standard striker.
- Latch and deadbolt openings - separate strike slots accept both the latch and the deadbolt of an entrance lock.
- 304 stainless steel - a corrosion-resistant grade well suited to Australian coastal and high-humidity conditions.
- Reinforces the strike area - spreads the closing and locking load across a wider stainless plate fixed to the frame.
- Covers a larger cut-out - spans or conceals an offset, oversized or worn strike opening.
- Two finishes - Satin Chrome or Matt Black to match Austyle door hardware.
- Passive mechanical hardware - no battery, no electronics, no app and no setup.
The strike side of a door jamb takes the impact every time the door closes and locks. This plate's 60mm extension spreads that load across a wider stainless face fixed to the frame around the strike, reinforcing the area where a jamb tends to weaken under a forced-entry attempt or wear over years of daily use.
304 is an austenitic stainless grade chosen for its corrosion resistance. It holds up well in the salt-air and humidity common across South East Queensland and coastal installs, and keeps its finish far longer than a plated mild-steel plate.
What's in the Box
- 1 x Austyle Extended Striker Plate (85mm) in the selected finish
This item is sold as a single striker plate (each). Standard countersunk timber screws are used to fix it to the jamb; confirm screw inclusion with your order or ask us to supply matching fixings.
Suitable Uses
- Reinforcing and protecting the strike side of a timber door jamb.
- Pairing with Austyle lever, entrance and deadbolt installations that throw a latch or bolt into the jamb.
- Covering and tidying a worn, oversized or previously cut strike opening.
- Adding a larger, cleaner strike face across the frame around the latch and deadbolt.
- Coastal and high-humidity locations where a corrosion-resistant plate is preferred.
Available Finish Options
Satin Chrome
STK 49840
Matt Black
STK 59840
Both finishes are supplied on this single listing - choose Satin Chrome or Matt Black when ordering. Finish selection does not affect functionality, corrosion resistance, or performance.
Compatible Austyle Locks
This striker plate is the jamb-side counterpart to an Austyle lock installation - its two openings receive the latch and the deadbolt thrown by the lock body, which makes it a particularly good match for Austyle entrance installs. It suits the following Austyle products:
- Austyle 49429 Entrance Mortice Lock - 60mm Backset - the 304SS entrance mortice body whose latch and bolt land on the jamb.
- Austyle 59406 Lever Entrance Set (includes 49429 mortice) - complete lever entrance kit.
- Austyle 59405 Lever Latch Set (mortice not included) - adjustable 60-70mm tubular latch install.
- Austyle 59407 Digital Lever Entrance Set (Aluminium Doors) - narrow-stile aluminium door lever entrance set.
- Austyle 59409 Smart Digital Deadbolt - retrofit deadbolt with an adjustable 60-70mm bolt throw.
An extended striker plate is a general jamb-hardware item - it suits a standard latch or deadbolt strike, not only Austyle locks. If you are matching it to an existing strike opening, check the cut-out size and the strike position against the plate dimensions in the Full Specifications below before ordering.
Austyle Extended Striker Plate Range
Both plates share the same strike faceplate (latch and deadbolt openings, three countersunk fixing holes) and differ only in the length of the side extension, which sets the overall width.

Installation and Compatibility
The plate fixes to the jamb at the strike through its three countersunk holes, with the flat side extension lying against the frame face beside the openings. Strike-plate alignment is one of the most common reasons a bolt binds or a lock feels like it is not throwing cleanly, so the two openings must line up with the latch and deadbolt at the correct heights. Our Measuring Your Door guide (Buyer's Guide Chapter 02) covers how backset, handing and bolt position affect strike placement.
If a lock will not lock or the bolt catches on the strike after fitting, misalignment is usually the cause. The Smart Lock Not Locking - 3 Common DIY Mistakes article walks through strike alignment and bolt-position checks, and the Installation and Troubleshooting guide (Chapter 12) covers wider fitting issues.

Frequently Asked Questions
It mounts on the door jamb where the latch and deadbolt land. Its two openings receive both the latch and the deadbolt, while the flat side extension gives a much larger fixed face on the frame - spreading the locking load, reinforcing the strike area, and letting the plate cover a larger or worn cut-out.
It is designed for Austyle lever, entrance and deadbolt installations - including the 49429 entrance mortice, the 59406 lever entrance set, the 59405 lever latch set and the 59409 deadbolt. It also suits standard latch and deadbolt strikes generally.
They share the same strike faceplate and differ only in the side extension, which sets the overall width. The 85mm plate has a 60mm extension and the 125mm plate has a 100mm extension. Choose the wider plate when you want more coverage across the frame or need to conceal a larger existing cut-out.
Yes. It is made from 304 stainless steel, an austenitic grade chosen for corrosion resistance. It is well suited to the salt-air and humidity common in coastal and South East Queensland installs.
It screws to the door jamb at the strike through its three countersunk holes, with the flat extension lying against the frame face, using standard countersunk timber screws. The two openings must line up with the latch and deadbolt - see the Installation and Troubleshooting guide for alignment tips.
Additional Information
An extended striker plate is a low-cost, high-value upgrade on any timber-jamb install. The strike is the single point where the door and frame meet under load, so a longer stainless plate spreads the impact of daily closing and adds meaningful resistance where a jamb would otherwise split under a kick or pry attempt.
Choosing between the two sizes comes down to coverage: the 85mm plate with its 60mm side extension is the more compact of the two, giving neat coverage of the frame face where a full-length plate is not needed. If you are retrofitting over an older strike, measure the existing opening first and pick the plate that fully covers it. When the finish matters, match the Satin Chrome or Matt Black plate to the Austyle lever, entrance or deadbolt hardware already on the door.
