Austyle 59409 Smart Digital Deadbolt – Bluetooth, Fingerprint, PIN, RFID & Key – Matt Black
The Austyle 59409 is a multi-credential smart deadbolt designed for retrofit installation on existing single-cylinder deadbolt preparations. It supports five access methods — Bluetooth app, fingerprint biometrics, PIN code, RFID card, and mechanical key override — and operates on the TTLock platform (iOS and Android). The adjustable bolt suits either a 60mm or 70mm throw, and the lock fits door thicknesses from 35mm to 55mm.
The exterior panel houses a touchscreen keypad and fingerprint reader. The interior panel carries the battery compartment and a manual deadbolt knob for locking and unlocking from inside. The lock communicates with a paired smartphone via Bluetooth. Remote access features — including off-site unlock, access history review, and timed passcode management — require pairing with a TTLock-compatible WiFi gateway (sold separately). Voice control via Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa is also gateway-dependent.
The handing direction (left or right opening) must be set during installation by adjusting the L/R switch on the back panel printed circuit board. Confirm your door handing before fitting. The 59409 is suitable for timber and aluminium doors with an existing 54mm deadbolt hole preparation and a 60mm backset.

Battery, Power & Backup Access
- Powered by 4 x AA alkaline batteries (6V total) — not included. Use high-quality alkaline batteries only; rechargeable and lithium batteries are not supported.
- Low battery alarm activates below 4.8V. Replace all four batteries at the same time when the alarm triggers.
- USB emergency power port on the exterior panel allows temporary operation from an external power bank when batteries are fully depleted — connect the power bank then use any electronic credential to unlock.
- Mechanical key override provides physical backup entry at all times, including when the privacy lock is active. Keep at least one key stored in a secure location outside the door.
Remote App Access (Optional – WiFi Gateway Required)
The 59409 does not have built-in WiFi. Remote access features — including off-site unlock, access history, timed PIN code management, and voice control via Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa — require pairing the lock with the Austyle 59419 WiFi Gateway Hub (sold separately). The hub connects to your 2.4GHz home WiFi network and bridges the lock to the TTLock cloud platform.
Without a gateway, the lock operates fully as a standalone unit using Bluetooth, fingerprint, PIN code, RFID card, and mechanical key. All user management is performed via the TTLock app over Bluetooth within approximately 5m of the lock. For more on whether you need a gateway, see our Smart Lock Gateway Comparison guide.
Frequently Asked Questions
Will the 59409 fit my existing deadbolt preparation?
The 59409 suits doors with a 54mm main hole and a 60mm backset. A 15mm secondary cable hole is also required, positioned 68mm above the main hole centre — this may need to be drilled if it does not already exist. Most standard single-cylinder deadbolt preparations in Australia use a 54mm hole at 60mm backset, so a retrofit install is straightforward on these doors. Confirm your measurements using our guide to measuring your lock backset before ordering.
How do I set the handing before installation?
Remove the battery cover on the interior back panel before fitting. The printed circuit board has a small switch labelled L (left) and R (right) — set this to match your door's opening direction. Left open means the hinges are on your left as you face the door from outside, with the lock on your right. See our guide to understanding door handing in Australia if you are unsure. Incorrect handing will prevent the bolt from operating correctly.
Does the 59409 include a lever or latch, or just the deadbolt?
The 59409 is a deadbolt-only product — it does not include a lever handle or latch. It is designed to be installed either as a standalone deadbolt or alongside an existing lever or knob set. If your door requires a combined lever and deadbolt in a single smart lock, see the 59406 Lever Entrance Set, which includes both a lever and an entrance mortice in the one kit.
The touchscreen is not responding after installation. What should I check?
First confirm the batteries are correctly installed and have sufficient charge — reversed polarity and depleted batteries are the most common cause of an unresponsive display. If batteries are correct, remove the back panel and verify the connecting cable between the front and back panels is fully seated. Also confirm the spindle is horizontal and the bolt is in the retracted position. See our guide on common smart lock installation mistakes for further troubleshooting.
How do I reset the lock to factory settings?
Long-press the reset button on the back of the front panel for approximately 3 seconds, then enter 000# on the keypad. Two short beeps confirm a successful reset. All stored fingerprints, PIN codes, RFID cards, and TTLock account pairings are erased. Re-add the lock to your TTLock account from scratch after resetting. The full procedure is in the Austyle Factory Reset SOP — see the PDF Downloads section below. For a full TTLock app walkthrough, see our TTLock user manual reference.
Additional Information
The spindle must be kept horizontal and the bolt must be in the retracted (pulled in) position before fitting the front panel. These two conditions must both be met. Incorrect spindle orientation is a common cause of the bolt failing to throw or retract after installation. Confirm both before connecting the front and back panels. See our blog on common smart lock installation mistakes for more on this issue.
IP55 confirms the exterior panel has been tested for resistance to water spray from any direction and dust ingress. The lock must not be installed where it is exposed to sustained direct rainfall, prolonged sun, or high-pressure washing. Install under an eave or in a sheltered position. IP55 does not indicate full waterproofing. Not rated for gate installation.
Only high-quality alkaline AA batteries are supported (4 x AA, 6V total). Rechargeable and lithium batteries are not compatible. Reduced fingerprint accuracy or intermittent electronic response often occurs due to low battery voltage before the low battery alarm activates — check battery condition first when troubleshooting access issues.
The first TTLock account to add the lock becomes the administrator. All other users receive access only via e-Key sharing or credentials created by the administrator. If the lock is being transferred to a new owner, perform a factory reset before the new administrator sets up the lock. For WiFi connectivity troubleshooting — including the 2.4GHz band-steering issue common with modern routers — see our blog on why smart locks sometimes drop off WiFi.
Entering an incorrect PIN code more than five consecutive times locks the keypad for 5 minutes. All other access methods — fingerprint, RFID card, Bluetooth app, and mechanical key — remain available during the lockout. This is a fixed manufacturer security behaviour and cannot be disabled via the TTLock app settings.
The Austyle 59409 carries a 1-year warranty from the date of purchase on residential installations. Proof of purchase is required for all warranty claims.
