The Vault Neo (Vault_Neo) is a compact smart lock offered in both knob and lever-handle variants, so it can suit a wide range of residential and light commercial doors. It fits both tubular latch and 5050 (50mm) mortice preparations, with the lock body selected at checkout.
Neo opens by fingerprint, PIN code, RFID card or fob, Bluetooth from the Vault Smart Locks app, and a mechanical override key. It is available in Silver or Black with a knob, or Black with a lever handle, and remote access is available when you add the optional Vault G5 Gateway.

The external (outside) module is IP55 weather rated for everyday outdoor exposure against limited dust ingress and low-pressure water jets. The internal module, which houses the battery compartment and electronics, is for interior use only and is not weather rated. Latch and Mortice Options
The Neo works with either a tubular latch (single latch) or a 5050 (50mm) mortice (dual latch), selected at checkout. Getting the lock body right is critical for correct fitment, handle operation and strike alignment. Confirm your door type and check your backset and door thickness first.
For rebated double doors there are two kits - the Vault Rebate Kit for Tubular Latch Locks for the tubular latch option and the Vault Rebate Kit for Mortice Locks for the 5050 mortice. Choosing the wrong lock body is one of the common pre-purchase mistakes to avoid.

Battery, Power and Backup Access
Neo is powered by 4 x AA batteries (not included). Use new alkaline batteries only and do not mix new and old cells. A low-battery voice alert sounds when the voltage drops below 4.8V, so replace the batteries promptly. A bottom USB port lets you connect a power bank for temporary power during setup or if the batteries are flat.
Neo includes mechanical override keys for entry if the batteries are depleted or electronic access is unavailable. Keep a spare key off-site rather than inside the door it opens. See where the keyhole is and what to do when the battery dies.

Neo is sold in both knob and lever-handle configurations across two lock-body types. Choose the correct handle, finish and lock body before ordering, as these cannot be exchanged after purchase. Selecting the wrong lock body is one of the most common errors, covered in backset mistakes and spindle mistakes.

Choosing Your Variant
Both operate the same lock. A knob keeps the slimmest 60mm profile (65mm clearance); the lever is easier to operate with full hands or limited grip strength and projects to 71mm (75mm clearance). Note the finish coupling: the knob comes in Silver or Black, the lever in Black only.

Fit, Lock Bodies and Installation
Look at your door edge: one visible bolt is a tubular latch (single latch), two is a mortice (dual latch). The Neo's lock body is selected at checkout, so confirm the preparation and your backset first. If in doubt, send us photos of your door edge before ordering.
Rebated (overlapping) pairs need a rebate kit matched to the lock body you chose: the Vault Rebate Kit for Tubular Latch Locks with the tubular latch, or the Vault Rebate Kit for Mortice Locks with the 5050 mortice. Confirm latch and strike alignment for your doors before ordering.
On a door already prepared for a tubular latch or a 5050 mortice, a competent DIYer can follow the manual's installation diagrams (an installation template is included in the box). Power and Batteries
4 x AA alkaline batteries, not included. Use new alkaline cells only and do not mix new and old. A voice alert sounds when the voltage drops below 4.8V - change the set promptly when you hear it. For battery habits that avoid lockouts, see the realities of electronic locks.
Emergency power. If the batteries run flat, connect a standard power bank to the bottom USB port to wake the lock and unlock as normal, then replace the batteries. It also provides temporary power during setup.

Remote Access and App
Only for remote features. Locally, Bluetooth handles unlocking and credential management when you are at the door. The Vault G5 Gateway adds remote unlock, remote passcode changes and unlock history from anywhere. Chapter 08 explains what a gateway does; the blog asks whether you need one at all.

The Vault app keeps unlock records, and with the G5 Gateway fitted you can view unlock history remotely. Assign each fingerprint, code and fob to a named user so the history is meaningful.

No. Vault smart locks carry no fire-door certification. Chapter 05 explains where fire doors are required and which locks are certified for them.

The external module is IP55 rated for everyday outdoor exposure - limited dust ingress and low-pressure water jets. The internal module is interior-only. A covered position extends the life of any electronic lock.
Care, Warranty and Support
The Neo carries Vault's standard 12-month warranty. Note that Vault charges a refundable assessment holding fee for warranty assessments - $200 in metropolitan areas and $250 elsewhere - refunded when the claim is accepted. IP55 covers everyday covered outdoor exposure, but salt air is a corrosion question and coastal corrosion is excluded from warranty cover. A sheltered mounting position and regular wipe-downs help - see coastal environment realities.

- Contact Terry's Gold Coast Smart Locks through the Returns & Warranty page above, with your proof of purchase (invoice or receipt).
- Have your product model and serial number (if applicable) ready, along with a brief description of the fault and your installation address.
- We assess your claim with Vault and advise the outcome and next steps. You may be asked to return the product for inspection.
What This Warranty Does Not Cover
- Normal wear and tear.
- Cosmetic damage that does not affect performance.
- Damage caused by incorrect installation, misuse, neglect, modification, or accident.
- Damage due to improper handling, or installation by an unlicensed technician.
- Products that have been disassembled, tampered with, or where the security seal or warranty label has been removed.
- Battery leakage or failure, or damage caused by incorrect battery usage.
- Environmental or weather damage caused by use outside recommended operating conditions.
- Labour, installation, or removal costs associated with replacing or reinstalling products.
- Work performed before warranty approval or assessment.
Important Notes
Where a Vault product carries an Ingress Protection (IP) rating, that rating is stated on the individual product listing, packaging or technical documentation. Unless stated otherwise in writing, the IP rating applies only to the external-facing side of the lock - not to the internal assembly, handle, battery compartment, electronics, cables or connectors. The internal side must be installed in a dry, sheltered position. An IP rating describes water resistance, not waterproofing: the lock must not be submerged, pressure washed, or exposed beyond its stated rating, and all seals, gaskets and covers must be correctly fitted and undamaged.
Vault's manufacturer policy applies a warranty assessment holding fee, which is refundable if the fault is found to be covered under warranty. If a product is assessed as outside warranty or damaged by an excluded cause, a discounted replacement may be offered. We will confirm any applicable fees and options with you before any assessment proceeds.
This warranty is provided in addition to your rights under the Australian Consumer Law (ACL). Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the ACL. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure, and to have goods repaired or replaced if they fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.
