Frequently Asked Questions

What is a rebate kit used for?
It allows a standard mortice lock to function correctly on rebated double doors where one door leaf overlaps the other.
Do I need this for all double doors?
Only if the doors are rebated (overlapping). Flush double doors do not require a rebate kit.
Is this compatible with Vault smart locks?
It can be, provided the mortice geometry matches and the lock supports rebated installations - for example the Hinged Euro Mortice or a tubular-latch lock such as the Vault Eclipse. Always confirm latch and strike alignment.
Can I install this on a single door?
No. It is only used for rebated double-door configurations.
Does this include the lock?
No. This is an accessory only and must be used with a compatible mortice or tubular-latch lock.

Additional Information

Correct Application: Only required where one door leaf overlaps the other (rebated doors). It is not required for standard single doors or flush double doors.
Compatibility Check: Not all mortice locks are automatically compatible - always confirm latch position and strike alignment. See the compatible Vault locks and mortices above.
Installation: Accurate positioning is critical for correct latch or bolt engagement. See our guide to common installation and alignment mistakes.
System Role: An accessory component that does not provide a locking function on its own.
Common Mistake: Ordering without confirming the door is actually rebated is one of the most common errors - check your door type first.

Important Notes

IP ratings and weather resistance
Where a Vault product carries an Ingress Protection (IP) rating, that rating is stated on the individual product listing, packaging or technical documentation. Unless stated otherwise in writing, the IP rating applies only to the external-facing side of the lock - not to the internal assembly, handle, battery compartment, electronics, cables or connectors. The internal side must be installed in a dry, sheltered position. An IP rating describes water resistance, not waterproofing: the lock must not be submerged, pressure washed, or exposed beyond its stated rating, and all seals, gaskets and covers must be correctly fitted and undamaged.
Warranty assessment fee
Vault's manufacturer policy applies a warranty assessment holding fee, which is refundable if the fault is found to be covered under warranty. If a product is assessed as outside warranty or damaged by an excluded cause, a discounted replacement may be offered. We will confirm any applicable fees and options with you before any assessment proceeds.
Your Rights Under Australian Consumer Law
This warranty is provided in addition to your rights under the Australian Consumer Law (ACL). Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the ACL. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure, and to have goods repaired or replaced if they fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.
