ASSA ABLOY Aperio AH20-1-0 Gen 5 Standard Wiegand Hub - 1:1 Interface (White)

The Aperio AH20-1-0 Gen 5 Standard Wiegand Hub is the communication bridge between a single Aperio wireless lock or device and an existing Electronic Access Control (EAC) system. It provides a 1:1 Wiegand interface - one hub connects one Aperio device to one controller input - enabling wireless credential transactions without running cable to the opening.

The hub communicates with the Aperio lock using 2.4 GHz encrypted wireless (IEEE 802.15.4, AES 128-bit) with a typical range of up to 25 metres depending on the building environment. The Standard version provides Wiegand integration without additional relay outputs. For sites requiring relay outputs and enhanced lock status monitoring, see the AH20-2-0 Advanced Wiegand Hub.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between the AH20-1-0 Standard and the AH20-2-0 Advanced?
Both hubs use the same 1:1 Wiegand interface and the same encrypted wireless protocol, connecting one Aperio device to one controller input. The Standard (AH20-1-0) passes credential data only. The Advanced (AH20-2-0) adds four configurable relay outputs and extended lock status monitoring (low battery, door status, offline state). Choose Standard for basic integrations; choose Advanced for higher-security sites requiring status feedback.
How does the hub communicate with the Aperio lock?
The hub communicates wirelessly using the Aperio 2.4 GHz protocol (IEEE 802.15.4) with AES 128-bit encryption. This is not Wi-Fi - it is ASSA ABLOY's proprietary Aperio wireless channel. The hub then outputs credential data to the EAC controller via a standard Wiegand cable connection.
How many Aperio devices can one AH20-1-0 hub support?
One. The AH20-1-0 is a 1:1 hub - it connects a single Aperio lock or device to a single Wiegand controller input. For multi-lock deployments, a hub is required per device. For RS485 or Ethernet-based multi-lock hubs supporting up to 16 or 64 devices, refer to the AH30 and AH40 hub series.
Where should the hub be installed?
The AH20-1-0 is rated IP20 for indoor installation only. It should be mounted inside the secure side of the door, typically in the ceiling void, riser cabinet, or within the door frame area - positioned to maintain the wireless range to the Aperio lock (up to 25 m). Hub placement is critical; consult the Aperio installation guide for placement guidance.
Does the hub work with any Aperio lock?
The AH20-1-0 is designed for the Aperio ecosystem. Compatibility with a specific Aperio lock model should be confirmed against the Aperio compatibility matrix in the Technical Catalogue before specifying. Not all Aperio devices are compatible with all hub generations.

Additional Information

Choosing the right hub: The AH20-1-0 is the appropriate choice for basic Wiegand deployments where the EAC system only needs to receive credential data. If the site requires lock status feedback (battery level, door open/closed state, offline alerts) or relay outputs for additional hardware control, the AH20-2-0 Advanced Wiegand Hub is the correct specification.

Hub placement: Wireless range to the Aperio lock is the critical installation variable. The 25 m range is a free-air maximum; concrete walls, reinforced doors, and electrical interference all reduce effective range. Hub placement should be confirmed with a site survey before installation. Refer to the Aperio Technical Catalogue for placement guidance.

Multi-lock deployments: For sites requiring more than one Aperio device, either deploy one AH20-1-0 per lock (each occupying one Wiegand input on the controller), or consider the AH30-3-0 (1:16, RS485) or AH40-4-0 (1:64, IP/Ethernet) hub series for more efficient multi-lock integration.

Professional installation required: This is an EAC infrastructure product. Installation, commissioning, and integration must be performed by an accredited Aperio-trained installer. It is not suitable for end-user self-installation.
