Auslock Super Slim S3B Smart Mortice Lock

The Auslock Super Slim S3B is a full mortice smart lock designed for modern timber and aluminium doors where a narrow, low-profile panel is essential. At just 33 mm wide and 280 mm tall, the S3B sits flush in the door stile rather than dominating it — while still delivering five access methods, Auslock App management, and optional remote access via the G2 or G3 Gateway. Available in Black, White/Silver, and White/Champagne Gold.

The S3B suits both hinged and sliding door configurations — handle direction is field-adjustable during installation. Three square shaft sizes (50, 57, and 67 mm) are included to accommodate the full 35–60 mm door thickness range without additional hardware. Note the S3B uses 4 × AAA batteries — smaller than the AA cells used in the H05 and H06.

Suitable Uses

Narrow-stile aluminium doors — at 33 mm panel width the S3B fits aluminium door stiles where standard mortice panels (65–72 mm wide) would overhang or not fit. See how to measure stile width before ordering.
Sliding doors — one of the few Auslock mortice models that explicitly supports sliding door installations. Handle direction is field-adjustable during installation.
Modern timber entry doors — front door replacement in a slim, contemporary profile; three finish options suit both light and dark door colours.
Airbnb and short-stay rentals — shareable timed PIN codes; remote access via gateway. See Chapter 07 — Smart locks for Airbnb.
Not for outdoor gates — IP55 applies to the external panel only; the internal unit is not independently rated. Not designed or rated for exposed outdoor gate installations.
Not fire-rated — the S3B does not carry fire rating certification and must not be specified for fire door applications.

Auslock Slim Series — Full Range

The S3B is the narrowest panel in the Auslock slim lock family. If the 33 mm panel is too narrow for your door hardware or you need a wider escutcheon, the S31B series offers a broader panel with the same access methods. The S31B also uses SS304 stainless steel construction and IP66 rating for direct outdoor exposure.

Dimensions

Confirm your door's stile width and backset before ordering. The S3B's 33 mm panel is the narrowest in the Auslock range — confirm there is sufficient stile material to seat the mortice body and fixing screws.

Panel dimensions — 280 mm height × 33 mm width; keypad face 124 mm; depth 22 mm.

Battery, Power & Backup

The S3B runs on 4 × AAA alkaline batteries — not included. Use alkaline only; do not mix old and new cells and do not use rechargeable cells. The lock alerts when voltage drops below 4.8 V — replace all four cells together immediately when notified.

AAA — not AA. The S3B uses AAA cells, smaller than the AA cells used in the H05 and H06. Fitting AA cells will not work and may damage the battery compartment.
USB-C Emergency Power
If batteries fully deplete, hold a USB-C power bank to the front panel port to provide temporary power — this activates the touchscreen to allow PIN entry and access. Keep a power bank accessible outside the property.

The mechanical backup key is a final failsafe independent of battery charge. Always keep one key at a secure off-site location.

Installation Video

Watch the S3B installation video
Auslock has produced an installation guide for the S3B — the visual content is genuinely useful for understanding the shaft selection and clutch orientation steps. Watch on YouTube →
Also see Chapter 12 — when DIY is and isn't appropriate for mortice lock installations.

Remote App Access & Gateway

The S3B connects to the Auslock App via Bluetooth for local control within approximately 5 m. For remote access from anywhere — locking, unlocking, viewing history, managing credentials, voice control — an Auslock Gateway is required.

Auslock G2 Gateway (Wi-Fi) — plug-in; connects to your 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network. Auslock gateways use 2.4 GHz only — if your router merges 2.4 and 5 GHz bands, you may need to split them. See the band-steering guide.
Auslock G3 Gateway (PoE Ethernet) — wired gateway for commercial or IT-managed installs; no Wi-Fi band-steering issues. See Chapter 08 — Gateway Comparison for a full G2 vs G3 breakdown.

Auslock App

The S3B uses the Auslock App, available on iOS and Android. iOS App StoreAndroid Google Play This is Auslock's own proprietary platform — not TTLock, not Tuya. The app supports multiple admin levels, e-key sharing, named access codes, scheduled and recurring codes, activity logs, and remote access when a gateway is connected.

Choosing a smart lock means choosing an app platform for the long term. Chapter 15 — Smart Lock App Platforms covers what to look for in an ecosystem before you commit.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will the S3B fit my narrow aluminium door?
The panel is 33 mm wide — the narrowest in the Auslock range. Measure your stile face width: you need at least 33 mm of stile material for the panel to sit without overhang, plus adequate depth for the mortice body. Check your stile width and backset before ordering. If you're unsure, contact Terry's for a pre-purchase door assessment.
My permanent passcode stopped working — why?
Permanent passcodes must be tested within 24 hours of creation, otherwise they auto-expire as a security measure. Create the code, test it immediately from the keypad, and it will remain active indefinitely. If it has already expired, delete it and recreate it — then test immediately.
The handle operates from inside but not outside — motor sounds fine.
The clutch triangle inside the spindle hub is installed in the wrong orientation. Remove the front panel, check the clutch direction marking against the installation diagram, refit with the arrow aligned correctly, and retest. This is the most common S3B installation error — the YouTube installation video shows the correct orientation. See also Chapter 12 — spindle installation mistakes.
What batteries does the S3B take?
4 × AAA alkaline — not AA. Use brand-name alkaline cells only; do not mix old and new, and do not use rechargeable cells. If you also own an H05 or H06, keep your battery stocks separate — those models use AA.
How do I set up voice control with Google or Alexa?
Voice control requires a G2 or G3 gateway connected and online. For Google Assistant, link via the ScienerSmart skill in the Google Home app. For Amazon Alexa, enable the ScienerSmart skill in the Alexa app and authorise with your Auslock account. Voice unlock requires a confirmation code — set this up in the app or Google Home settings. Locking by voice does not require a code.

Additional Information

Choosing between the S3B and S31B
The S3B (33 mm panel, aluminium alloy, IP55) is the right choice when panel width is the primary constraint — narrow stiles on timber or aluminium doors, either hinged or sliding. The S31B (38 mm panel, SS304 stainless, IP66) is the right choice when weather resistance and corrosion resistance matter more than minimum panel width — coastal installations, exposed hinged or sliding doors. See the S31B slim family table for a direct comparison.
Auslock App is not TTLock
The S3B uses the Auslock App — a distinct platform from TTLock or Tuya. If you need a lock that works with TTLock-based PMS or property management integrations, this is not the right product. Chapter 15 — Choosing an App Platform explains the distinction.
Passcode management — 24-hour activation rule
Permanent codes must be tested within 24 hours of creation or they auto-expire. Create the code, test it from the keypad immediately, and it will remain permanently active. Timed codes work well for guests — set the start time to check-in and expiry to 30–60 minutes after checkout. Verify the timezone in the app matches your property location before saving timed codes.
IP55 — sheltered outdoor use only
IP55 covers dust ingress and directional water spray on the external panel. Suitable for covered entries and porticos. Avoid direct rain and do not install on exposed outdoor gates. For full outdoor exposure consider the S31B Hinged (IP66, SS304). For detail on what IP ratings mean see Chapter 11 — IP ratings explained.
