The Austyle 59405 is a smart digital lever latch set for residential timber and aluminium doors. It provides five onboard access methods - fingerprint, PIN code, RFID card, Bluetooth app, and mechanical key - all managed through the TTLock app (iOS and Android). Understand the difference between Bluetooth-only and gateway-connected operation before ordering. The 59405 is designed to retrofit onto existing doors and includes an adjustable tubular latch (60-70mm backset).
The 59405 is the lever set only - the Austyle 49429 entrance mortice is not included and is sold separately. When the 49429 is installed, lifting the handle engages the mortice deadbolt and pulling down releases both the deadbolt and latch. Remote WiFi access, voice control via Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa, and automated access management are available when paired with the Austyle 59419 WiFi Gateway Hub (sold separately). The 59405 has no built-in WiFi. Lever handing and latch handing are both reversible, making the 59405 suitable for left-hand and right-hand doors. The lock is rated IP55, tested to 250,000 operating cycles, and 200 hours of salt-spray durability. Residential use only.

Battery, Power & Backup Access
- Powered by 4 x AA alkaline batteries (6V total) - not included. Use high-quality alkaline batteries only. Lithium and rechargeable batteries are not supported and may void warranty.
- Low battery alarm activates below 4.8V via app notification and onboard indicator. Replace all four batteries at the same time with fresh alkaline batteries.
- Micro USB emergency power port located beside the key barrel under the exterior panel. Connect a power bank to power the lock when batteries are fully depleted - then use PIN, RFID card, or the app to unlock. The key barrel also remains operational at all times.
- Mechanical key override provides physical backup access at all times. Keep at least one key stored in a secure location outside the door - see our guide to the mechanical key override on smart locks.
Remote App Access (Optional - WiFi Gateway Required)
The 59405 has no built-in WiFi. Remote access features - including remote unlock from anywhere, timed PIN code management, access history, and voice control via Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa - require pairing the lock with the Austyle 59419 WiFi Gateway Hub (sold separately). Pairing the gateway: in the TTLock app, add the gateway and select the G2 (Wi-Fi) gateway type. Position the hub within about 10 metres of the lock for a reliable Bluetooth bridge. Important - 2.4GHz only: The 59419 gateway requires a 2.4GHz WiFi network and does not support 5GHz. Many modern routers use band steering, which may push the gateway onto 5GHz and cause connection failure. Without a gateway, the 59405 operates fully as a standalone unit on its onboard methods - fingerprint, PIN code, RFID card, Bluetooth app (within approximately 5m), and mechanical key. All user management is performed via the TTLock app over Bluetooth in close proximity. Spindle Hub Arrow Direction - Critical:
The arrow stamped on the rear of the backplate spindle hub must face the correct direction or the lock will not function. When using the lock with the tubular latch only, the arrow must point toward the handle. When using the lock with the 49429 entrance mortice, the arrow must point downward. This is the most common cause of installation failure on the 59405/59406 range - and note the 59405's arrow rule is the reverse of the 59407's, so do not follow a 59407 sheet. Do I need the WiFi gateway, and does the 59405 have built-in WiFi?
The 59405 has no built-in WiFi. On its own it is fully functional over Bluetooth in close range (about 5m) - fingerprint, PIN, card, key and app management all work. To unlock or manage the lock remotely from anywhere, to grant timed codes off-site, or to use voice control, you add the 59419 WiFi Gateway Hub (sold separately). How do I get in if the batteries go flat?
Two ways. The lock has a Micro USB emergency power port beside the key barrel under the exterior panel - connect a power bank and then unlock with your PIN, card or the app. The mechanical key override also works at all times, so keep at least one of the two included keys somewhere secure off-site. Leave it off. The TTLock app exposes a tamper-alert toggle on the platform, but this Austyle hardware does not support it and turning it on produces phantom alerts. The fingerprint reader has become unreliable - why?
Check the batteries first. Falling voltage degrades biometric accuracy before the low-battery alarm triggers, so a reader that used to be fast and is now missing reads is usually a battery issue, not a faulty sensor. Fit fresh alkaline cells, and re-enrol prints if needed for a clean, well-covered scan.

Exclusions - What This Warranty Does Not Cover
- Commercial installations - this lock is rated for residential use only
- Damage caused by water entering from the inside of the door (the exterior is rated IP55; internal water ingress is not covered)
- Installation on tongue-and-groove doors, where water can penetrate through the groove
- Installation on gates
- Prolonged direct exposure to sunlight or rain - the lock must be positioned under an eave or in a sheltered area
- Damage caused by use of lithium or rechargeable batteries - only high-quality alkaline AA batteries (4 x AA) are supported
- Damage resulting from incorrect installation, misuse, or failure to follow the installation instructions
- Normal wear and consumable items, including batteries
Important Notes
To maintain warranty coverage, the lock must be installed on a smooth, flat door surface with the rubber gasket correctly seated. Only 4 x AA alkaline batteries are supported - lithium and rechargeable batteries are not compatible and their use may void the warranty. Austyle products purchased from another retailer or website cannot be returned to Terry's Tradies Pty Ltd and its associated websites, trading names, and subsidiaries for warranty assessment.
