The Borg BL1006SCECP puts proper keyless access on cabinets, lockers, cupboards, and built-in joinery. It is a fully mechanical digital cam lock - a compact pushbutton keypad on the front, a rotating cam behind the door, and not a battery or wire anywhere in the system. Enter the code, turn, open.

The feature that lifts it above generic cabinet locks is Easicode Pro: the code is changed on the door, in place, without pulling the lock off. In a staff room, gym, clinic, or school where locker codes rotate with the people using them, that is the difference between a two-minute job and an afternoon of unscrewing doors.

Easicode Pro - Codes Change on the Door
Locks without Easicode Pro come off the door to be re-coded On The Bench. Easicode Pro does the whole job in place, following the steps in the BL1006SCECP Operation Instructions V2 (PDF) - a genuine two-minute task once you have done it twice. Our code changing guide explains how the ECP method compares with the bench method across the Borg range.

The steps, from Borg's sheet: With the door open: enter the existing code; press and hold the * button with a suitable tool and keep it held until the new code is entered; press C to clear; enter the new code; release the * button; press C to set. Then test the new code five times, watching the cam turn, before you close the door. If you make a mistake, press C while the * button is still held and start the new code again.

Suitable Uses

This is the mechanical digital answer for anything cupboard-sized: staff lockers, medication and first-aid cabinets, stationery cupboards, gym and pool lockers, tradie van drawers, server and comms cabinets, and school or clinic joinery. Anywhere a shared key currently gets lost, copied, or carried home, a code on the door solves it without adding batteries to the maintenance list. It is internal-only hardware - not weather resistant, so outdoor cabinets and wet areas are out of scope.

Can this lock be retrofitted to existing cabinets?
Yes - the compact cam lock format is the usual retrofit choice, provided the existing door cut-out and cam clearance suit. The horizontal and vertical drilling templates on this page let you check the hole pattern against your door before ordering.

Does this cam lock require batteries?
No. It is a fully mechanical digital lock - no batteries, no wiring, no charging, ever. That is precisely why the format suits banks of lockers: nothing to flatten across fifty doors. Our plain-English explainer covers how battery-free keyless entry works.

How is the code changed?
On the door, using the Easicode Pro method in the operating instructions - no need to remove the lock. The steps are under Changing the Code. Each lock accepts a single PIN at a time, so changing the code immediately retires the old one.

Is this lock suitable for external or wet areas?
No. It is intended for internal use only and is not weather resistant. For coastal or exposed conditions on cabinet doors, the BL1706 sibling carries the Marine Grade Pro coating.

What door thickness and construction does it suit?
Door material up to 25mm thick - standard melamine, MDF, plywood, and metal locker doors all fall within that. Two cams are supplied to cover different cupboard constructions; check the drilling templates for the cut-out.

Additional Information

Mounting Height:
Fit the lock so the keypad sits at a comfortable height for the people actually using it - on tall locker banks, that usually means the second row from the top, not the top row.

Buying for a Locker Bank:
Order one spare unit with the batch: a spare on the shelf turns any future damage into a ten-minute swap.

Code-Only Management:

Recovering a Forgotten Code:
Borg's operating instructions show how to recover the current code from the lock: loosen the grub screw on the code cover plate, slide the plate up, then rotate it to read the code, which shows in red. Keep the operating instructions (PDF) with your locker records, and test every new code five times with the door open before you close it.

Maintenance:
Monthly: wipe the keypad and knob with a light spray of silicon-based lubricant (such as GT85) and remove the excess with a soft cloth. Do not use oil-based lubricants such as WD-40 - they attract dirt and wear down internal parts over time. Annually: remove the lock from the door, spray the inside through the code piece holes on the reverse of the keypad with silicon-based lubricant, spray the fixings and the cam with silicon-based lubricant, then press each button and turn the knob several times to confirm smooth operation. Warranty

Borg Locks Warranty - 12 Months (Australia)
All Borg locks are warranted against mechanical defects in materials and workmanship under normal use and service for a minimum of 12 months from date of sale. The warranty does not cover damage arising from misuse, vandalism, or improper installation. The lock must not be dismantled - doing so will invalidate the warranty. Proof of purchase required for all claims.
