Borg BL2701SCECP Mechanical Digital Lock - Satin Chrome - EasiCode Pro with Key Override
At A Glance
The Borg BL2701SCECP is a fully mechanical digital lock from the Borg BL2700 ECP series - Borg's direct upgrade to the standard BL2000 ECP series, with a key override cylinder built into the keypad itself rather than needing a separate lockcase fitted. No batteries, no mains power and no electronics are involved anywhere in the mechanism - every function is driven by the physical action of the keypad buttons. The lock accepts a single PIN code selected from over 4,000 possible combinations, with Borg's EasiCode Pro system giving on-door code changing without tools or removing the lock, in around 10 seconds.
The BL2701SCECP includes a Yale/Schlage 6-pin removable mechanical key override cylinder as standard, giving keyway backup entry when needed. The body is finished in satin chrome, uses a standard 60mm backset (50mm/70mm also offered across the wider BL2700 ECP range), and is reversible for left-hand or right-hand door installation. A removable holdback function is included, letting the inside handle be held open where free passage is required.
Cycle tested to 50,000 operations, the BL2701SCECP is rated for internal light to medium use - residential entry doors, office access points, secure storage rooms, and similar low-traffic applications. It is one of five models in the Borg BL2700/BL2000 ECP family - if your door has a narrow stile or aluminium frame that a standard 60mm lock will not fit, see the short-backset BL2702SCECP instead.
Usually same day if ordered before 11am AEST (excludes weekends and Queensland public holidays).
Every function - keypad entry, code change, key override - is driven by the physical action of the keypad and key. There is nothing to charge, no batteries to replace, and no electronics to fail.
The access code is changed directly on the installed lock in around 10 seconds, using the dedicated code-change button and supplied block pin - no tools, no lock removal, no programming device. See our guide on changing codes on Borg EasiCode Pro locks, or read more on what MG Pro and ECP actually mean on a Borg lock.
Supplied with a Yale/Schlage 6-pin removable cylinder and 3 keys. Keyed-alike ordering is available across multiple BL2701SCECP units, so one key operates every keypad on the order - contact Terry's when placing your order to specify keyed-alike. The cylinder can also be swapped for a compatible Yale/Schlage-profile master keyed cylinder for site keying integration - confirm suitability with your locksmith before ordering a replacement.
The BL2701SCECP is built for internal residential and light commercial doors. For high-traffic commercial or heavy-duty applications, consider the Lockwood 3572DX, Borg BL7701 Heavy Duty, or Carbine CDL7100SC-HD. See our guide on heavy duty commercial mechanical digital locks for the full comparison.

Frequently Asked Questions
No. The BL2701SCECP is a fully mechanical digital lock. All internal mechanisms are driven by the physical action of the keypad buttons - no electricity, batteries, or wiring are involved at any point. For a broader overview of how battery-free Borg locks sit within the smart lock category, see Lockwood vs Borg vs Carbine.
The code is changed directly on the installed lock using the dedicated EasiCode Pro button and the supplied code change block pin - the process takes around 10 seconds and does not require removing the lock or using specialist tools. Full step-by-step instructions are in the BL2000 ECP EasiCode Pro Installation Instructions, or see our guide on changing codes on Borg EasiCode Pro locks.
Yes to both. Keyed-alike ordering is available across multiple BL2701SCECP units, so a single key operates every keypad on the order - specify this when placing your order. The supplied Yale/Schlage 6-pin removable cylinder can also be swapped for a compatible Yale/Schlage-profile master keyed cylinder if you need to integrate it into an existing site keying system - confirm compatibility with your locksmith before ordering a replacement, since not all Yale/Schlage-profile cylinders fit without modification.
Yes. Unlike the short-backset BL2702SCECP's handed 28mm ali-latch, the BL2701SCECP's standard 60mm tubular latch is a drop-in reversible design - no handing-change procedure or LH/RH ordering is needed.
No. The BL2700 ECP series is rated for internal light to medium duty use only - it is not designed for prolonged external weathering, coastal salt air, or high-humidity environments. For external applications, contact Terry's for guidance on suitable weather-rated alternatives.
Additional Information
EasiCode Pro is Borg's on-door code change system. Unlike older Borg models that required removing a code disc, EasiCode Pro lets the code be changed at any time while the lock stays installed, using the dedicated button and supplied block pin. This makes the lock well suited to rental and strata applications where tenant codes must be changed regularly. The same block pin can also be fitted permanently to disable the external code-change function - useful where the code must be locked down and only changeable by someone with physical access to the lock internals.
The Yale/Schlage 6-pin removable cylinder supplied with the BL2701SCECP is the standard key profile for the BL2700 ECP series. Keys can be duplicated at most locksmith workshops. If a restricted or master keyed profile is required, the supplied cylinder can be swapped for a compatible Yale/Schlage-profile cylinder - confirm fitment with your locksmith first. Duplicating or replacing cylinders is a job for a licensed locksmith; do not attempt to dismantle the cylinder housing, as this voids the warranty.
The BL2701 uses a deadlocking tubular latch with an anti-thrust pin. When the door closes fully, the latch bolt automatically deadlocks - preventing the bolt from being retracted by force using a card or flexible tool. For the deadlocking function to engage reliably, the strike plate must be correctly aligned and fully engaged with the latch bolt. See our guide on measuring your lock backset to confirm correct installation measurements before drilling.
Genuine Borg locks carry logged, traceable spare parts and documentation, unlike many hardware-store imitations. See our guide on why our mech-digi range beats hardware store imitations for the full comparison, covering retrofit kits, keypad-only spares, and scar plates.
Borg Locks are warranted against defects in materials and workmanship for 12 months from the date of sale. The warranty does not cover damage from misuse, vandalism, or improper installation, and does not cover anything beyond the documented code change procedure. Locks must not be dismantled - dismantling voids the warranty. Warranty claims for products purchased through Terry's are managed by Terry's - contact the team directly to start a claim. This warranty operates alongside, and does not limit, your rights under Australian Consumer Law.

Frequently Asked Questions - BL2701SCECP
Fit and Compatibility
The BL2701SCECP has a fixed 60mm backset, matching the vast majority of Australian residential and commercial doors. Measure your existing latch backset before ordering - see our backset measuring guide. If your door only has around 25-30mm of clearance, the narrow-stile BL2702SCECP is the better fit instead.
Both share the same EasiCode Pro keypad and 60mm tubular latch. The BL2201SCECP has holdback but no key override; the BL2701SCECP adds the Yale/Schlage mechanical key override as a backup entry path, which the BL2201SCECP does not have. If you don't need a mechanical key backup, the BL2201SCECP is the simpler option. See Item Code Family for the full comparison.
They share the same keypad, latch, key override and holdback function. BL2701MGPRO uses Borg's Marine Grade Pro coating and finish for improved corrosion resistance in coastal or exposed environments, while this Satin Chrome BL2701SCECP suits standard internal residential and light commercial doors. See Item Code Family.
This listing is built and rated for internal residential and light-commercial doors, not gates - it carries no outdoor weather rating or gate-specific hardware. See our Digital Mechanical Locks range for Borg's dedicated gate lock series if you need one for a gate application.
Code, Keys and Servicing
Over 4,000 possible PIN combinations gives a far larger keyspace than the 3-4 digit codes on many consumer keypads, while EasiCode Pro's on-door change means the active code can be rotated in seconds whenever tenants or staff change. Combined with the Yale/Schlage key override as a mechanical fallback, this is standard commercial-grade practice for a light-duty internal keypad lock.
Not as a discrete keypad-only SKU at this time - see Accessories and Spares for what is currently catalogued (spare latches, tumblers, gasket, scar plate and spindles). If your external keypad assembly needs replacing, contact Terry's and we will confirm current availability rather than guess.
The holdback mechanism is fully removable. When activated it holds the inside handle open so occupants can pass freely without operating the handle on each entry or exit. If holdback is not required for your installation, the mechanism can be removed - instructions are included in the product documentation.
With both credentials lost, entry requires a locksmith to pick or drill the lock - there is no factory backdoor or reset code. Keeping the key override cylinder and a written code record in a safe place avoids this scenario.

You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage.
