The Borg BLS272000LH is the 28mm narrow-stile mortice latch for the Borg 2000 and 4000 Series mechanical digital locks, in left hand. It is a narrow-stile mortice latch with a 28mm backset, made for aluminium shopfront doors where a full 60mm latch will not fit the stile.
This latch is supplied left hand. It is sold handed, and Borg names the hand of its 28mm latches differently to the usual Australian convention, so the L in the code does not simply mean a left-hand door - check the Borg handing guide below before you order, and choose the right-hand version where the guide points to it. If the wrong hand does turn up on site, a locksmith or a competent handy person can change the hand on the bench.

Borg Latch Handing - Check Before You Order
The handing convention Borg uses for its 28mm latches (left and right) is different to the one locksmiths generally use in Australia, so the LH or RH in the latch code is not necessarily your door's usual hand. When you select the handing of your latch, follow the schematic below produced by the experts at Terry's Locksmiths, rather than the hand you would normally call the door.

On a door that opens in, the latch letter follows the hinge side seen from outside - hinges on the left takes the LH latch. On a door that opens out it is the other way round - hinges on the left takes the RH latch. So two doors hung on the same side can need different latches if one opens in and the other opens out.

Which 28mm Latch - 2000 Series or 5000 Series?
We stock two 28mm short-backset latches and they look almost identical in a photograph - same 28mm backset, same slim face plate, same satin chrome. The difference is the drive, and it is on the back of the latch where the spindle passes through. This one, for the 2000 and 4000 Series, is driven by a tail piece. The 5000 Series latch takes an 8mm square spindle. Work out which lock you have before you order.

This 28mm latch fits the Borg 2000 and 4000 Series knob and lever locks below. On the three locks built for narrow stiles it is the matching spare; on the others it replaces the 60mm latch supplied with the lock where a narrow aluminium gate frame or stile will not take a 60mm backset. All Borg locks are warranted against mechanical defects in materials and workmanship under normal use and service for a minimum of 12 months from date of sale. The warranty does not cover damage arising from misuse, vandalism, or improper installation. The lock must not be dismantled - doing so will invalidate the warranty. How to Make a Claim
- Contact Terry's Tradies Pty Ltd first if you purchased through us or one of its associated trading names - we will assess the issue and manage the warranty process with LSC on your behalf. You do not need to contact LSC or Borg Locks UK directly.
- Have your proof of purchase ready (receipt or order confirmation).
- Warranty claims for Borg products in Australia are processed through LSC, the authorised Australian importer and distributor. Where an item is returned to LSC, freight charges must be prepaid and the item returned within the warranty period.
- If LSC finds the returned item to be defective, it will be repaired or replaced, and a detailed assessment report is provided to the customer after examination.
